DEFINITION: Under general supervision, provide personal fitness training to clients requesting service; maintain personal schedule at the front desk; enforce all rules and regulations pertaining to the safety and well being of all patrons; keep fitness floor tidy and clean. Perform related work as required, may include light cleaning and janitorial.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Ensuring that the participant’s needs are met through personal recognition and by providing quality service and group fitness classes.
  • Provide corrective feedback and proper technique.
  • Maintain certain class records and reports as required.
  • Assuming a leadership role as a professional.
  • Ensuring that a safe and healthy environment exists for exercising.
  • Enforce all rules and regulations.
  • Recognize and respond professionally to emergencies, provide care as indicated under the scope of training.
  • Assume assigned duties connected with care and maintenance of the facility.
  • Provide basic maintenance, equipment care.
  • Deal tactfully and courteously with the public.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other city employees, other agencies, and the general public.
  • Actively attend and participate in required staff training and in-service drills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
  • The ability to speak English clearly and understandably.
  • Perform related duties as required.

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education, training, and experience, which likely provides the required knowledge and abilities.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: Candidates receiving a conditional job offer must pass a pre-placement fingerprint review. The employee must satisfactorily complete an evaluatory period before obtaining regular status. Candidates must possess a current CPR/AED and First Aid certificate and be comfortable calling 911 in an emergency.
