THE POSITION

Under supervision of the Utilities Superintendent, the Water Treatment/Distribution System Operator will be responsible for a variety of operational and general maintenance tasks on the City’s water treatment and distribution systems. The position will entail the proper operation of each of the City’s well sites, laying and fitting pipelines, installing, reading, repairing water meters, maintaining records of water infrastructure, and other duties as required and assigned.

Water Treatment/Distribution System Operator I
The Water Distribution/Treatment System Operator I is an entry level class responsible for a variety of operations and maintenance of the water distribution and treatment system, and incumbents are expected to perform the full scope of assigned duties. This classification is alternatively staffed with a Treatment/Distribution System Operator II and incumbents may advance to a higher level after gaining experience, obtaining required certification’s and demonstrating a level of proficiency that meets the qualifications of the higher-level class.

Salary: $4,017.05 - $4,882.75 Monthly

Water Treatment/Distribution System Operator II
The Water Treatment/Distribution System Operator II is the journey level class expected to perform the full range of water system activities and related support duties with minimum supervision. Incumbent is responsible for the performance of the division’s complex and difficult assignments and may provide training to entry level staff. This classification is distinguished from the next higher classification of Senior Water Distribution/Treatment System Operator in that the latter is responsible for division supervision and performance of the divisions most complex tasks.

THE POSITION

The classification is alternatively staffed with Plant Operator II, and incumbents may advance to the higher level after gaining experience, obtaining required certifications and demonstrating a level of proficiency that meets the qualifications of the higher level class.

The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II is the advanced journey level class responsible for the full range of treatment plant responsibilities and for the performance of the most complex and difficult assignments within the series. This classification is distinguished from the next higher classification of Public Works Supervisor in that latter is responsible for the overall operation and supervision of the wastewater treatment program.

The City of Auburn is hiring to fill two part-time Bus Driver II positions!

Auburn Transit is looking for qualified individuals with a valid CDL to join our transit team. These positions are seasonal, part-time and each has a maximum of 999 hours of work per fiscal year. The incumbent's schedule will be based on the designated bus route shifts and may vary to accommodate community transit needs.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Bus Driver II operates and maintains a variety of transit and General Public Paratransit (GPPV) vehicles to transport passengers in a safe, courteous and reliable manner. This position will primarily transport passengers on commercial motor vehicles, but may provide transit services through Auburn OnDemand, the City's ride-share service.

Auburn Transit provides fixed and on-demand transportation services to the community. In addition to designated bus routes, Auburn Transit works with other local transit agencies to ensure adequate services are provided for school needs and special events. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Bus Driver II is a journey-level classification responsible for full range of duties and operation of all transit vehicles in the fleet. It is necessary incumbents have a full knowledge of transit laws, operating procedures and policies. The role performs under general supervision from the Transportation Supervisor or designee and does not involve supervision over other staff.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

The following duties are typical for this classification. Actual work may vary based on department needs or change due to evolving business practices.

• Operates a bus or other General Public Paratransit (GPPV) vehicles on City streets and highways in all weather conditions to transport passengers on established routes with designated stops, on-demand rideshare services, field trips and special events.
• Ensures passenger safety by observing passenger behavior, verifying safety belts are secured and rendering aid to passengers in an emergency.
• Assists passengers boarding and deboarding as needed or requested, including senior citizens, individuals with disabilities and care-dependent persons.
• Operates a smart device and two-radio to respond to transit dispatch and on-demand rideshare requests requiring adjustments to existing schedules and routes.
• Operates automatic wheelchair lifts, collects fares, issues passes, secures wheelchairs and other assistive devices.
• Promptly notifies management and completes reports regarding accidents and incidents involving vehicles and passengers.
• Conducts mandatory daily pre-trip vehicle inspections adhering to state and city regulations before each route, including reporting inspection results, daily trip logs, and required vehicle repairs and maintenance.
• Performs minor maintenance, repair and cleaning of transit vehicles and fleet storage facility.
• Adheres to all public transit federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations.
• Maintains a valid California driver’s license and passenger certifications required by the state vehicle code, Department of Motor Vehicles, Department of Transportation and other applicable standards.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

THE POSITION:

The ideal candidate for the Senior Secretary position in the City Clerk's Office will be a highly organized and detail-oriented individual, capable of handling a wide range of administrative and clerical duties. They should possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to efficiently interact with members of the public, City officials, and other departments. Strong proficiency in office software, including word processing and spreadsheets, is essential for this role. The candidate will also need to demonstrate a deep understanding of record-keeping and be able to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information. Familiarity with the City's legislative process, Municipal Code, and Public Records Act is a plus. Additionally, the ideal candidate should be a proactive problem solver, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience in taking minutes for a public body and interacting with members of the public is highly desirable.

The Senior Secretary position is a City-wide classification utilized in many departments. The current vacancy is in the City Clerk's Office; however, this list will also be used as vacancies open in other City departments.
 

 

Essential Duties

What you will do: 
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

• Relieve supervisor or other department staff of administrative support service functions; utilize independent judgement and initiative.
• Act as interdepartmental liaison relating to administrative or project support functions for the office and for compliance with city regulations and practices relating to those functions.
• Perform administrative clerical duties related to area of assignment such as rent review, automated inventory systems or plan review.
• Interpret, apply and explain polices and procedures related to area of assignment; determine eligibility of participation by individuals requesting services related to area of assignment.
• Prepare correspondence and supporting documentation relating to area of assignment; maintain accurate records and files of program activities.
• Plan, assign and review the work of assigned clerical  personnel including providing input on performance evaluations.
• Respond to public inquiries, both on the telephone and in person, and refer to appropriate staff member for more specific information as appropriate; exhibit familiarity with functions of the city.
• Assist in preparing procedures, operating manuals, written material, budgets, forms, charts and/or other documents for internal or external distribution.
• Act as information source to inquiries not requiring the supervisor's attention and otherwise assist in representing the department by telephone and in person.
• Type letters, reports, memoranda and other documents relating to the department or division which may include contracts, proposals, technical documents, statistical and/or special forms, budgets, and charts.
• Compose routine correspondence and memoranda; proofread for accuracy, correct form, content and proper English usage.          
• Collect information from a variety of documents pertinent to assigned department or functional area of responsibility; compile data for reports; prepare routine reports as required.
• Maintain and monitor records and files; follow up on due dates; perform other monitoring functions to ensure timely completion of work.
• May make appointments for staff and maintain daily  calendars; may arrange meetings and conferences for supervisor and/or other administrative staff; prepare material and handle transportation when necessary.
