Are you passionate about aquatics? If so, the City of Belmont invites you to apply for one of our Lifeguard/Swim Instructor positions.
Monday – Friday Shifts - NO WEEKENDS!
Lifeguard I / Swim Instructor I $18.95-23.04
Lifeguard II / Swim Instructor II $19.95-24.25
This is a part-time position. Hours will range up to 40 hours per week with no weekend shifts. Typical shift is from 9AM-5PM Monday - Friday.
Must hold current Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED and First Aid Certificates by June 1st, 2024. With proof of payment, the City will reimburse you for the cost of the lifeguard certification training at the end of the aquatics season if certification is obtained in the 2024 year.

• Must be available for paid training June 12 - June 14, 2024
• Must be available for the summer aquatics season June 17 – August 2, 2024 (7 weeks).

Ideal Candidate
Experience and Education
Minimum age at time of hire is 15 years old.
Knowledge of, and the ability to demonstrate skills in swim lesson instruction.
Ability to work independently and possess energy and enthusiasm.
What You Will Do
Lifeguards / Swim Instructors will ensure the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies and instruct swim lessons for participants of all ages.
The essential functions of this position include: maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; act immediately and appropriately to ensure the safety of patrons in the event of an emergency; provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services; perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility; prepare and maintain appropriate reports; possess thorough knowledge of rescue techniques; understand and enforcement of facility rules, policies and procedures, demonstrate leadership, public relations skills and decision-making skills.
In addition, Swim Instructors are responsible for instructing all swim lesson participants, ensuring the safety of all participants in their class, instructing and evaluating students participating in swim lessons, submitting completed participant report cards on time, and attending mandatory meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
The individual must be able to represent the City of Belmont in a professional manner and follow the City’s polices and regulations.
