City of Moorpark

The City of Moorpark incorporated in July of 1983 and is conveniently located in the southeastern part of Ventura County. The City is within an hour’s drive from Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. The City is a growing community with a current population of approximately 38,000. Moorpark is consistently ranked as the safest city in Ventura County.

The City of Moorpark is governed by a Council/Manager form of government. The Mayor is elected to serve a two-year term. The four City Council members are elected at large to serve staggered four-year terms. Moorpark is a contract city, providing administrative services, community development, public works, and parks and recreation services internally.
