City of Rio Dell

The City of Rio Dell is located in northern California in Humboldt County, approximately 35 miles south of Eureka, the County seat. The community is located on a bend of the Eel River just off of US Highway 101 and provides easy access to the towering Redwoods, Humboldt Bay and the Pacific Ocean.

The City was incorporated in 1965 and provides the full range of municipal services to its population of 3,500 residents, except fire protection services which are provided by a special district. The political environment in the City is very stable and City staff is professional and close knit.

Services provided to the community include the core services of City Manager, City Clerk, Finance Department, Street Maintenance, Water and Wastewater Utilities, Police, Community Development and Building Inspection.

Rio Dell employs 18 FTE’s and has a total budget for fiscal year 2103-14 in the amount of $7,467,658, including $2,448,177 for operations and maintenance and $5,019,481 for capital and special projects.
