Description
The City of Dixon Recreation Department is accepting applications for one (1) position of Pool Manager for the 2025 Aquatics Season.
The Aquatics Supervisor organizes, leads, supervises and performs all aquatic activities as related to the management and operation of the City of Dixon swimming pool. Performs regular lifeguard duties, organizes and instructs swim classes. Performs related and other work as required.
This is a temporary/seasonal position working the Aquatic Season as early May 2025 through November 2025. Staff can average between 20-40 hours per week based on the season, needs of the program, and staff availability. Staff may be expected to work weekends and on fixed holidays. Those who work on a City Holiday will earn 1 ½ times their base hourly salary.
This position is subject to random controlled substance testing and/or breath alcohol testing.
Exam Process: A limited number of candidates whose applications indicate that they, among those competing, are better qualified in terms of related education, training and experience will be invited to participate in an interview process. The most qualified candidates from this process will be placed on an employment eligibility list. Note: the examination process may be changed as deemed necessary.
Employment Processing: Those selected are subject to subject to pre-employment drug testing and fingerprinting. In accordance with Federal law, an employee must provide proof of identity and legal right to work in the United States.

Ideal Candidate
Applications are invited from qualified persons who possess the knowledge and abilities to perform the job. A typical way to obtain such knowledge and ability would be:
Education: Completion of the twelfth grade or the equivalent.
Experience: Two years of experience at a swimming pool as an instructor and lifeguard. Experience in pool management and supervising employees is desirable.
Certificates: Must have current American Red Cross certificates in the following:
- Lifeguard Training/First Aid
- CPR-AED for Lifeguarding
- First Aid for the Public Safety Personnel (Title 22)
Possession of a Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certificate is highly desirable.
Spanish language skills desirable, incentive offered.

CalPERS Annuitants will be limited to only 960 hours in a fiscal year.
