Description

The Position

The Public Service Assistant (PSA) II is assigned to the Police Department’s Red-Light Camera Unit. Under direct supervision of the Traffic Enforcement Project Specialist, the Public Service Assistant II will perform administrative tasks in support of the Police Department’s Red-Light Camera Unit. This position is a temporary/part-time appointment and may work up to 20 hours a week.

 

Examples of job duties include:

 

  • Order and prepare court packets of red-light violation from Red Flex for review by court commissioner and defendants.
  • Research and understand several sections of the vehicle, government and evidence code as it pertains to red light violations.
  • Prepare trial by written declaration packets.
  • Research and print out DMV information, including photos and convictions for case files.
  • Assist with conducting enforcement sign and equipment verifications.
  • Assist with verifying yellow light timing with city Traffic Engineers.
  • Assist with review and maintenance of court evidence binders.
  • Uploading case file evidence.
  • Research statistical studies and assist in report preparation.
  • Order office supplies and maintain a functional and organized workspace.
  • Retrieve, sort and distribute incoming mail.
  • Answer phone and return phone and email messages.
  • Other duties as assigned

The Police Department is searching for a motivated and enthusiastic candidate with the ability to multi task with time sensitive projects, organize, prioritize and remain task oriented. The successful candidate will possess excellent customer service, written and verbal communication skills. In addition, the incumbent must be able to develop and maintain good working relationships with supervisors, staff and the general public. Two years of professional administrative/clerical and customer service experience is highly desirable.

 

Qualifications

Education: High school degree or equivalent.

Special Requirements: Must be 18 years of age. The selected candidate must possess a valid California Class C Driver’s License.
