Description

The Finance Department is recruiting for Management Analyst I/II (Budget and Treasury).

The Department

The Finance Department functions include budgeting, revenue collection, debt management, purchasing, cash management and investment, disbursements, accounting, and financial reporting. Budget activities include coordinating and producing the annual budget document, monitoring revenue and expenditure performance, preparing mid-year and year-end budget presentations to the City Council, evaluating the effects of budget changes on service levels, assisting departments with business planning, and supporting citywide economic development projects. Treasury activities include maintaining the City’s banking relationships, ensuring sufficient liquidity to meet projected cash flow needs, supervising the City’s investment portfolio, preparing monthly cash and investments reports to the City Council, issuing debt, and administering the City’s debt portfolio.

 

The Ideal Candidate

Professional experience in public sector budget preparation, treasury operations (e.g., cash handling, banking, securities transactions, cash flow forecasting), and/or debt administration are highly desirable, as well as the following:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, establish priorities, and develop action plans
  • Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
