The City of Patterson is seeking to fill one (1) part-time vacancy for a Facility Attendant in the Recreation Department and to establish an eligibility list.

Duties include, but are not limited to: under direct supervision, performs a variety of facility related tasks to ensure effective operations at the Recreation and Community Services Complex and related facilities and parks. Prepares facilities for use; works with users during events; provides set-up and arrangements for classes, meetings, and public and private events; registers participants for recreational programs; assists with cleaning and maintaining of Community Services' facilities including removing and disposing of trash, sweeping, and mopping of floors.  Provides staff support for recreation events and programs.

The City of Rocklin is currently accepting applications for a full-time Landscape Services Worker in the Parks and Recreation Department.

THE POSITION

Under general supervision, the Landscape Services Worker performs a variety of landscapes and/or recreational facility maintenance and repair work; provides maintenance support to the Landscape Services Division; and performs related work as required. Examples of duties are:

• Performs a wide variety of semi-skilled tasks in the construction and repair of landscapes, and park facilities such as installing and maintaining signs, erecting safety structures (i.e., barricades), installing park structures (i.e., benches, tables, awnings), building and maintaining fences and removing and pouring concrete.
• Inspects assigned landscape areas for safety, appearance and vandalism.
• Cleans and clears landscapes, facilities, structures and playing fields of debris and potentially dangerous conditions.
• Inspects and repairs playground equipment, picnic tables, barbecues, and other related park equipment.
• Plants, mows, prunes, and maintains turf, trees, shrubs, and plants; clears sites of weeds.
• Prepares and maintains athletic fields and related facilities; grades, fills and shapes baseball diamonds.
• Performs minor maintenance and repairs on equipment of park facilities such as replacing light bulbs, repairing electrical equipment (i.e., scoreboards), and laying conduit and pulling wire.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade

AND

One (1) year of experience in the maintenance, modification, and repair of parks, medians, and landscaped areas.

License Requirements

• A valid California Class C driver license or higher with a satisfactory driving record is required at the time of appointment. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
•  A valid California Class A driver license with a satisfactory driving record is required within twelve (12) months of appointment.
• A Work Zone Traffic Control Safety Certificate issued by the International Municipal Signal Association (I.M.S.A.), or successful completion of the Traffic Control Technician-CA State Specific Training Course thru the American Traffic Safety Services Association is required within twelve (12) months of appointment.
• Qualified Pesticide Applicator Certificate issued by the Department of Pesticide Regulation is desirable.
• A Playground Safety Certificate is desirable.

To perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, sidewalks, signs, water meters, sewers, storm drains, pump stations and tree maintenance. 

The purpose of this recruitment is to hire a Temporary / Part-Time position.  Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualifications for the Maintenance Worker I position may be considered for employment as an Intern.  Temporary / Part-Time employees work no more than 130 hours per month AND 960 hours per fiscal year. Typical work schedule will be three 8-hour shifts per week, excluding weekends and evenings.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Ideal Candidate for this position should have previous Road Maintenance experience; sidewalks, driveways, roads, curbs, and gutters, although not required. The Ideal Candidate will be able to follow directions, demonstrate good communication skills (orally and in writing), be flexible, arrive on time, have good attendance, a positive attitude, be able to work independently with limited supervision, and a willingness to take on and learn new skills. Possessing a Class B commercial Driver’s license is desired, though not required upon hire. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Operate a variety of light and moderately heavy construction and maintenance equipment including such pieces as a loader, dump truck, water truck, rubber-tired and steel rollers, rubber-tired tractor with all attachments (except backhoe attachment), striping equipment, and trencher in order to perform a variety of routine construction and maintenance operations.  Spread asphalt in patching and repairing streets.  Use concrete cutting equipment; operate a jackhammer; pour and finish concrete; construct concrete forms and perform rough carpentry work.  Paint and install traffic markings on streets, crosswalks, parking lots, and curbs; operate a striping truck; manufacture and install traffic signs and remove signs no longer required.  Install and remove traffic control barricades and cones.  Assist in a variety of tree maintenance activities including low limb, stump routing, tree watering, and tree planting.  Utilize proper safety precautions and comply with policies and procedures in the Department Illness and Injury Prevention Program.  Operate equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates.  Regular and consistent attendance.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Respond to inquiries from the general public.  Clean storm grates and drains.  Perform work in emergency situations as required.  Perform minor and preventive maintenance on paint spraying equipment, compressors, sprayers, compactors, and other construction equipment.  Work cooperatively with others.  Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Maintenance Worker I

Education:  High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience:  One (1) year of work experience in construction or related field.

License or Certificate:  Possession of a valid California Driver's License required upon hire.  Class B permit and DMV Medical Certification are required within three months of hire.  A valid Class B California driver's license, Completion of Work Zone Safety certification issued by the International Municipal Signal Association, First Aid and CPR Certifications required prior to permanent appointment.

To perform a variety of skilled and semiskilled horticulture tasks in the construction, maintenance and repair of parks, pools, recreation, and cemetery facilities and buildings.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy in the Community Services Department, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The City of Woodland is looking to fill a Park Maintenance Worker I/II position in the
Community Services Department. The Ideal Candidate for the current vacancy is someone
who has a good understanding of many aspects of the maintenance of facilities, parks, janitorial, and horticulture. This position requires a “team player” with good interpersonal, time
management, and communication skills. The Ideal Candidate must be highly self-motivated,
able to work independently with minimal oversite, demonstrate good judgement, as well as be
organized, flexible, approachable, resourceful, and a positive team contributor on a
consistent basis. This position will also require the selected candidate work weekends,
standby and overtime as necessary.

Park Maintenance Worker I:

This is an entry-level classification in the park maintenance worker series. Positions in this class normally perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled duties. May be required to work any shift, including a regular work-shift that includes weekends and holidays, and routinely participate in a weeklong stand-by shift. Park Maintenance Worker I will usually exercise less independence, discretion and judgment on matters related to work procedures and methods.

Park Maintenance Worker II:

This is the journey level in the park maintenance worker series. This class differs from Parks Maintenance Worker I in that incumbent performs more complex parks maintenance duties, including the requirement to work any shift, weekends, and holidays, to work independently, exercise judgment, and operate the full range of tools and mechanical equipment related to a specific assignment. The incumbent Park Maintenance Worker II may also be expected to assist in the oversight and training of less experienced personnel. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the Park Maintenance I level, or when filled from the outside requires prior work experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

Performing general grounds cleaning, including emptying trash receptacles, mopping, sweeping, and raking City parks, ball field maintenance/set up, and Cemetery as needed. Maintain irrigation, maintain synthetic turf, mow, cultivate, prune, weed, renovate, and fertilize grass, plants, trees, flowers, and shrubs. Operate power mowers, turf groomers, chain saws, rototillers, aerators, hedgers, spreaders, front-end loader, edgers, air compressors, and other equipment. Utilize proper safety precautions related to all performed work, while all safe work procedures i.e., necessary PPE. Drive vehicles and equipment as required. Prepare and maintain athletic fields and related facilities, swimming pools, and cemetery/interment operations.  Regular, predictable, consistent and timely attendance is an essential function of the position, in that the failure of such attendance undermines the City’s ability to provide critical services to the employees, department and the public.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS 

Install, maintain and replace playground equipment and fences; assemble tables, benches and bleachers. Applying fertilizers and spraying various herbicides and pesticides in City park and recreation areas. Respond to inquiries from the general public. Install, maintain and repair irrigation systems. Assist in setting up community services and special events. Maintain, repair and replace plumbing systems and fixtures such as light switches, motors, wall receptacles, faucets, drinking fountains, water heaters, water closet, urinals, water regulators and pressure valves, and building maintenance as required. Work cooperatively with others. Meet all Standby Program requirements; work any shift including weekends and holidays. Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Park Maintenance Worker I:

Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:  Six (6) months of experience in the care and maintenance of landscapes or facilities.

License and Certificate:  Required upon hire, possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

Park Maintenance Worker II:

Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:  One (1) year of experience performing duties comparable to those of a Park Maintenance Worker I in the City of Woodland.

License and Certificate:  Required upon hire, possession of a California Driver’s License. It is highly desirable to possess a State of California Qualified Applicator Certificate, Category B.

The Community Development Department of the City of Dixon has been authorized to fill a full-time position of Associate Planner.  This classification performs a variety of highly complex professional work in current planning, housing, advance planning, and environmental planning including research and analysis, report writing, plan review; permit coordination, managing complex projects, data collection and analysis, information dissemination; assists with management of consultant contracts and work programs as assigned and performs field inspection.

This is in the professional planning series and competent to independently perform the full scope of duties required, with minimal supervision from the Community Development Director or designee. Supervision received is characterized by general supervisory direction and control intended to define objectives and problems.  Control over work methods is general, rather than detailed in nature.  Supervision given will involve training and providing lead direction to professional, technical and clerical staff.

This classification is distinguished from that of Assistant Planner by the greater complexity and political sensitivity of the assignments received, higher level of experience and knowledge and greater independence.

THE POSITION

The City Attorney's Office seeks a well-qualified, motivated attorney for the position of Assistant City Attorney. This is an at-will position that serves as part of the City's executive management team. 

The Assistant City Attorney will provide legal advice, counsel, and representation to the City in areas including, but not limited to, land use, real estate, housing, and environmental law. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The City Attorney's Office also prepares and/or reviews all ordinances, resolutions. contracts and other documents and represents the City in civil litigation and acts as liaison to outside special counsel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association with a Juris Doctorate degree;

AND

Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience as an attorney in the practice of civil or municipal law.

Licenses and Certificates:

• Active membership, in good standing, in the State Bar of California.
