A Dance Instructor (Program Specialist) will plan, prepare and instruct recreation activities. Activities may include art, cooking, dance, pre-school program and other program areas. Programs are designed for children ages 4-17 (primarily 5-12) years of age.

Dance programs may include ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, ballroom, folkloric, salsa, and rhythmic international styles.

• Develop and submit lesson plans including class content and material needs.
• Lead organized activities to develop and strengthen youth academic, recreational, and social skills.

General supervision is provided by a program coordinator or Recreation Supervisor. The Program Specialist may supervise a part-time aide and/or "counselor in training" in a classroom environment in daily activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age
• Different program areas will have different skills and knowledge requirements for the position; check with Recreation Supervisor. (For example: 6 ECE unites required for pre-school instructor)
• One school year teaching experience
• At least one year's experience working with children in an academic setting
• Must be willing and able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as required

THE POSITION: The San Mateo Public Library has an opening for 2 per diem Librarian I positions with regular schedules (schedules listed below). This recruitment will also be used to fill on call per diem Librarian openings. Education and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school and two years of responsible office support, secretarial, or general clerical experience.  Experience in dealing with the public and working in a public agency setting is desirable.

Physical Demands:  Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.

SALARY AND HOURS: $29.23 – $30.64 – $32.17 – $33.78 - $35.49 per hour. Paid sick leave benefit available. Appointments are generally made at the first step in this range.

An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the departmental interview process.  Eligibility lists are good for one year, unless abolished sooner.  Prior to appointment, a background check, including fingerprinting for submission to the Department of Justice must be completed along with reference checks.
