DEFINITION

• OPERATOR I (COLLECTION)
  Under general supervision or direction, the Operator I (Collection) is responsible for the overall operation of the wastewater collections system, which includes the repair and maintenance of the sewer collection system and pump stations.
   
• OPERATOR II (COLLECTION)
  Under general direction, supervises the operation of the Collections System of the Wastewater Treatment Plant on a designated shift to ensure processing and discharge of wastewater which complies with performance standards of State regulatory agencies; perform any combination of tasks involved with inspection, construction, repair, and preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance of sanitary personnel; prepares logs and other records; performs maintenance tasks as required and other related duties as required.
   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION REQUIREMENTS

For the Collections System, ability to locate, detect cause, and correct sewer stoppages; detect and perform minor repairs and adjustments to sewer equipment; maintain pumps and related mechanical equipment; and report to work at any time during an emergency.  Perform electrical and mechanical repairs, maintenance work and modification to equipment used in a water quality control plant; use various mechanic’s tools with skill and accuracy; available for standby on sewer calls on a rotation basis; follow oral and written directions; maintain working relationships with other employees.  (See Physical Demands section as it relates to Essential Function Requirements.)

• Positions in this classification require one to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, climb, and stand for long periods of time.

  • Employees work primarily in the field and are exposed to noise, dust, pollen, grease, smoke, fumes, chemicals, noxious odors, gases, heat, and cold in confined workspaces and in all types of weather conditions.

BASIC EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

• OPERATOR I (COLLECTION)
  Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Performs operation and maintenance on sanitary sewer pump station.
  • Responds to service requests regarding clogged mainline stoppages, mainline breaks, manholes and related structures.
  • Performs mechanical work in repairing and installing equipment.
  • Operates compressor, air gun tamper, backhoe and other related construction tools.
  • May undertake minor carpentry, plumbing, cement work and electrical.
  • Performs general grounds maintenance work, sweeping, sanding, painting.
  • Maintains routine and daily records.
     
• OPERATOR II (COLLECTION)
  Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Lead a crew in the safe performance of preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance of sanitary sewers
  • Respond to service requests, unclog mainline stoppages, and keep records on sewer line cleanings and state of existing problems within the Collections System
  • Repair mainline breaks, replace broken pipe and reconnect pipe sections
  • Operate power rodder, jet truck, backhoe and TV equipment
  • Conduct periodic inspections and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to wastewater pumping stations and equipment
  • Keep daily logs and records on equipment; makes reports to the supervisor
  • Provide technical assistance and prescribe work methods and safety procedures to maintenance workers and utility workers
  • Inspect installation of new sewer lines, laterals and related structures; may study blueprints and specifications preparatory to inspection of construction project
  • Supervises the work of all operating personnel assigned to shift; trains and evaluates performance of shift employees, enforces safety procedures in conformance with policy of plant’s safety program.

The position will receive a 2.5% base salary increase in July 2024.

THE POSITION

The City Attorney's Office seeks a well-qualified, motivated attorney for the position of Assistant City Attorney. This is an at-will position that serves as part of the City's executive management team. 

The Assistant City Attorney will provide legal advice, counsel, and representation to the City in areas including, but not limited to, land use, real estate, housing, and environmental law. Duties include drafting and reviewing contracts, ordinances, resolutions, deeds, permits, licenses, and other legal documents, conducting research, interpreting and updating the City Municipal Code, and providing advice to City staff. 

The Assistant City Attorney will provide counsel to the Planning Commission, the Community Development Department, other City departments, and assist with the enforcement of City Municipal Code. The Assistant City Attorney receives general direction and supervision from the City Attorney and may provide oversight and supervision to support staff. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will have a broad base of knowledge and experience in a variety of areas of municipal law such as the Brown Act, Political Reform Act, Public Records Act, contracts, personnel matters, public safety, public works, and advisory and litigation services. THE DEPARTMENT

The City Attorney's Office consists of the City Attorney, Assistant City Attorney, and Department Administrative Specialist and has a departmental budget of, $1,118,400. The City Attorney's Office advises the Rocklin City Council, City Boards and Commissions, and City Departments on the legal propriety of proposed municipal actions. The City Attorney's Office also prepares and/or reviews all ordinances, resolutions. contracts and other documents and represents the City in civil litigation and acts as liaison to outside special counsel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association with a Juris Doctorate degree;

Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience as an attorney in the practice of civil or municipal law.

• Active membership, in good standing, in the State Bar of California.

The Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS) team of the Human Services Agency (HSA) of San Mateo County is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Rehabilitation Production Supervisor I/II. This current vacancy is a permanent position assigned in Catering Connection and/or the WorkCenter program. The position is a shared assignment and will be scheduled weekly to work in Catering Connection and/or the WorkCenter. The schedule of this position will vary and include weekends depending on the needs of the departments.
 
Under supervision, Rehabilitation Production Supervisor I/II will perform a variety of support activities and supervise the operation of Vocational Rehabilitation Services’ Catering Connection, and WorkCenter. In addition, this position is responsible for: Instructing, training and supervising the work of support staff and individuals with emotional and physical disabilities or others with barriers to employment by observing, evaluating and reporting on progress, attendance and employment potential of clients and preparing written evaluations.

The Department

The Human Services Department (HSD) delivers and supports services by forging long-term community partnerships, engaging with and building the capacity of the community to do its own problem-solving, and leveraging financial and volunteer resources. The Department’s nationally and internationally recognized programs support thousands of residents throughout their life course, from infants to elders. The Aging and Family Services Division (AFS) of HSD specifically supports older residents and their caregivers to live active, healthy lives in the Tri-City community. With input from local, older adults (age 55 years+) as our guide, the AFS team strives to provide and AFS staff work together to provide a continuum of supportive services that range from health promotion activities to home-based end of life care. AFS has a Senior InfoLine (phone and email) that is answered in 4 language (Farsi, English, Spanish and Chinese) that is often an entry point. As an older adult or their caregiver’s situation changes, they seamlessly have access to a continuum of programs that include counseling and emotional support; care coordination and resource assistance; specialized family caregiver support and education. Many of these supportive services are provided in the resident’s home. We also provide regular expert clinical consultation, supervision, opportunities for self-reflection, and team building, fostering a culture of empathy, inclusivity, humility, and respect.

The Position

Under the supervision of the Age Well Center Managers, the Chef/Food Services Manager position manages meal programs for the City of Fremont’s Age Well Centers. Chef responsibilities across both Age Well Center locations include the performance of menu planning, purchasing of foodstuffs, preparing quantity meals, supervising and assisting kitchen employees and volunteers and maintaining clean and orderly kitchens.

The incumbent will be responsible for properly cooked, economical, and wholesome, well balanced meals in City operated Age Well Centers. This position is not limited to being responsible for the assignment of work, supervision and evaluation of paid and volunteer food service workers. The review and approval of proposed menus, food purchases, control and monitoring of expenditure rates; and institution of disciplinary actions are functions reserved for the Program Coordinator or Age Well Center Managers.

• Plan menus with consideration for the dietary needs of older adults, wholesomeness, quantity of food to be prepared and budgetary constraints.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Deputy County Counsel II/III in the Office of County Counsel. Under the direction of the County Counsel and Chief Deputy County Counsel, attorneys in this series perform professional legal work by preparing and trying civil cases and providing legal counsel and assistance to the County, it’s officers, associated boards and commissions, as well as outside agencies; assist departments in interpreting regulations on a wide range of topics; represent officers and employees in litigation; and perform duties as assigned.  The Deputy County Counsel I/II/III classification is flexibly staffed and depending on background and experience, may be filled directly at the Deputy County Counsel II or III level. Involvement in formal litigation and discretionary authority increases as the incumbent progresses through the various levels.

• Prepares pleadings and other papers in connection with trials, hearings and other legal proceedings; performs research, investigation and detailed legal preparation for the trial or defense of the County in cases involving condemnation, damage or other civil suits.  
• Makes recommendations to the County Counsel concerning the advisability to prosecute, compromise or dismiss civil litigation.
• Drafts proposed legislation, analyzes pending legislation and recommends County position on legislation.

The Position

The Solid Waste Manager reports directly to the Environmental Services Manager and is responsible for the administration of multiple integrated waste management contracts and programs within the Environmental Services Division. This position supervises a team of technical staff who execute various integrated solid waste management activities and may serve as the division head in the absence of the Environmental Services Manager.

Examples of Duties

• Manage multiple City franchise agreements for solid waste collection, material transfer and recovery, and landfill disposal including negotiating contract terms and monitoring performance.
• Oversee the division’s solid waste programs including planning, organizing, and implementing programs to create environmentally sound and cost-effective methods for the disposal of garbage and household hazardous waste, recovery of recyclables, diversion of organic material, and waste prevention.
• Plan, develop, and oversee the work of integrated waste management staff, providing leadership and fostering staff development.
• Receive and respond to complex customer service requests concerning scope of program, technical information, and service delivery issues.
• Oversee the Division’s public education, outreach, and special events to promote environmentally responsible and sustainable behavior.
• Analyze proposed legislation affecting integrated waste management activities, develops and implements program and policies to ensure City compliance with regulatory mandates.
• Conduct analysis and prepare reports and documents as required by regulatory agencies and for City Council study sessions and meetings.
• Participate in budget preparation and administration.
• Make presentations to City Council, boards, commissions or other public groups and acts as the City designated representative as assigned.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Deputy District Attorneys perform professional legal services in the prosecution of a variety of criminal and/or civil matters on behalf of the District Attorney and perform other related work as assigned.

Deputy District Attorney I-II-III:

• Level I – This level is assigned to attorneys who have no previous legal experience.  Attorneys at this level work under close supervision. Applicants who have taken the California State Bar Exam this year and are waiting for results are encouraged to apply.

• Level II – This level is assigned to attorneys with at least one year of experience in the practice of law, who have demonstrated sufficient professional knowledge, judgment and skill to begin handling cases under general supervision. 

• Level III – This level is assigned to attorneys with at least four years of experience in the practice of law, who have demonstrated sufficient professional knowledge, judgement and skill to handle the most difficult and complex cases under limited supervision.

Examples of Duties: 

• Reviews and evaluates law enforcement reports and associated information and makes decisions whether to prosecute, negotiate or dismiss.      
• Appears in Superior Court for all criminally related court matters, including, pre-hearing conferences, sentencing, preliminary hearings, motions, and court and jury trials.
• Interviews witnesses and victims of criminal, domestic violence, and other offenses; reviews and evaluates physical evidence, views crime scenes; discusses cases with law enforcement; evaluates cases for settlement purposes and creates strategies for trial.

The City of San Bruno Community Services Department is seeking a Food Services Coordinator to coordinate the lunch program and assist in the planning, organizing, coordination, and administration of community recreation programs for age 50-plus adults. The position works under the supervision of a Recreation Services Supervisor.

This position will perform food service management, food preparation, cooking, menu planning following Aging and Adult Services (AAS) guidelines; kitchen sanitation procedures, and routine cleaning of the kitchen appliances; purchase necessary supplies from vendors, keep detailed records of expenses and meals served, maintain food and supply inventory list. The position will also assist senior center staff in the development, scheduling, and implementation of a variety of fun lunch time activities and programs, such as the “Variety Show” and “Spring-Time Fun.”

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual who can follow recipes, plan and organize menus; prepare food in large quantities and manage kitchen operations to meet a fixed preparation and serving schedule; calculate ingredients and prepare required food quantities with minimum waste; follow safety practices, sanitation requirements and health code rules; maintain a variable work schedule based on needs of program and community center; follow oral and written instructions, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ideal candidate will also be able to safely operate kitchen tools and equipment, including proper use of knives, scissors, and other cooking tools; serve as an Emergency Disaster Worker and respond to other emergencies as needed; supervise and manage employees; demonstrate sound judgement, timeliness, initiative, and independence.

Examples of the essential duties and responsibilities include:

• Perform food service management, food preparation, cooking, menu planning following Aging and Adult Services (AAS) guidelines, and kitchen sanitation procedures and routine cleaning of the kitchen and all appliances. Provide quarterly nutrition education.
• Purchase necessary supplies from vendors and keep detailed records of expenses and meals served. Maintain food and supply inventory list.
• Assist with input of computer data and financial records pertaining to kitchen expenses and county grant data.
• Attend quarterly meetings to comply with grant funding.
• Hire and supervise part-time staff, volunteers and 50-plus adults from various food service backgrounds and age groups during daily meal preparation. Meet regularly with kitchen staff and volunteers to review procedures. Provide training for lunch registration and kitchen volunteers.
• Assist in the development, scheduling and implementation of lunch time activities and programs, with understanding of 50-plus adult and program needs.
• Work with various government agencies on regulations, training, and education surrounding food safety, nutrition, and other guidelines.
• Maintain a variable work schedule based on needs of program and community center.
• May perform needed custodial and general maintenance work as required.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

The Food Services Coordinator will possess the following:

• Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) Degree from a two-year college or university with a degree in hospitality management, culinary arts, institutional food preparation management, or a closely related field or Certificate in Culinary Arts from an accredited culinary school.
• One year experience in institutional food preparation management or related experience.
• Additional experience and training in institutional food preparation, community center use, nutrition, menu planning, and food preparation is desirable.
• Ability to obtain and maintain valid California State Driver’s License.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the following by the end of the probationary period:
  • First Aid and CPR Certification
  • California State certification in food safety (equivalent to the ServSafe Certificate).

As Sr. Deputy litigator, under supervision of a Chief Deputy, you will have primary responsibility for all aspects of assigned cases, including pleading, litigation strategy, client communication and coordination, discovery and document review, motion practice, settlement evaluation and negotiation, and trial.
