A Dance Instructor (Program Specialist) will plan, prepare and instruct recreation activities. Activities may include art, cooking, dance, pre-school program and other program areas. Programs are designed for children ages 4-17 (primarily 5-12) years of age.

Dance programs may include ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, ballroom, folkloric, salsa, and rhythmic international styles.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (These duties are a general description and are not all inclusive.)

• Develop and submit lesson plans including class content and material needs.
• Lead organized activities to develop and strengthen youth academic, recreational, and social skills.
• Plan lessons and activities so they are appropriate to students with various abilities.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED

General supervision is provided by a program coordinator or Recreation Supervisor. The Program Specialist may supervise a part-time aide and/or "counselor in training" in a classroom environment in daily activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age
• Different program areas will have different skills and knowledge requirements for the position; check with Recreation Supervisor. (For example: 6 ECE unites required for pre-school instructor)
• One school year teaching experience
• At least one year's experience working with children in an academic setting
• Must be willing and able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as required

Parks Planning and Design Manager Class Specification

Definition
Under administrative direction, plans, organizes, manages, and directs the activities of the Landscape Architecture Division; serves as a key staff member in the administration, development, and implementation of policies, systems, and procedures to facilitate the implementation of the City’s Park Master Plan; oversees and directs the supervision and activities of citywide tree preservation and landscape development policies; and gives professional advice on landscape matters.

Class Characteristics 
This is a single position management classification reporting to the Community Services Director.  The incumbent has considerable latitude in the application of department policy as it relates to division activities and follows general guidelines or professional and administrative standards in accomplishing assignments; the incumbent is expected to identify policy issues and work with other staff to develop options and recommend solutions.  This classification is distinguished from the Senior Landscape Architect by the latter’s responsibility to manage the staff and activities of one or more sections of the Landscape Architecture Division.

• Plans, organizes, and oversees the landscape, site design and layout of parks, recreational areas, city facilities, roadway medians, and pedestrian ways.
• Acts as the City(s) Landscape Architect in the review, revision, implementation and interpretation of City tree and landscape ordinances, regulations, and policies.
• Directs and participates in analysis of park planning efforts and park site acquisition for compliance with the Park and Recreation master Plan and the Park and Recreation Chapter of the General Plan.
• Plans, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of professional City and contract staff.
• Trains staff in work procedures.
• Provides policy guidance and interpretation to staff.
• Recommends design direction on high-profile urban design of public and private projects that impact landscape design and urban projects within the City.
• Manages the Park Planning and Development Plan for the City.
• Provides staff support and recommendation alternatives to the Recreation Commission and City Council in park planning policy and implementation of facility development.
• Recommends modifications to ordinances, policies and procedures and implements after approval.
• Performs professional landscape architectural work including preparing landscape plans, coordinating master plan development, and performing park planning and preparing related specifications, contracts, and cost estimates.
• Reviews and approves landscape proposals for private development, ensuring compliance with codes, policies, regulations and procedures.
• Prepares reports.
• Recommends approval or denial of various projects for submission to the Planning Commission and/or the City Council.
• Directs the inspection of and/or inspects public and private landscaping work for conformance with plans, specifications and ordinances.
• Administers and implements the Tree Preservation Ordinance, including recommending approval or denial of permits for tree removal.
• Administers the tree planting program, including maintenance of the street tree master plan, botanical designation, inspection of plantings, issuance of permits for planting, removal, and pruning.
• Serves as technical adviser to other City departments and officials on park, street tree and landscape matters.
• Reviews and analyzes federal, state and local landscape and water legislation and its implementation in the City of Fremont.
• Participates as a team member in the work of the department’s management team, understanding and then implementing assigned duties and responsibilities to support team goals and objectives.  
• Works cooperatively with other team members, receiving and sharing information, soliciting input, identifying operational and interpersonal issues, participating in the development of problem solving solutions.
• Acts as the City's representative in dealing with public and private agencies, groups and individuals concerned with parks and open space, trees, and landscape.
• Conducts park location studies to evaluate park site feasibility and proposed land acquisition and/or development.
• Responds to public requests and complaints regarding landscape development and tree preservation.
• Coordinates the work of the division with that of other departments and divisions.
• Maintains accurate records and files.
• Supervises the preparation of clear and effective reports, correspondence, policies, procedures, ordinances and other written materials.

Education/Experience
 Any combination of education and/or experience that has provided the knowledge and skills necessary to satisfactory job performance would be qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skills would be:  Education and/or experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Park Planning, Horticulture, or closely related field and five years of experience in professional landscape architecture, park planning or park management.  A Master’s degree is desirable.

Project Hope is a neighborhood engagement and empowerment initiative focused on nine neighborhoods in San Jose. Organized into operational teams, Project Hope staff are assigned to specific neighborhoods, where they assist residents to address the conditions and circumstances that exist due to systemic racism such as crime/violence, blight, lack of trust, marginalization, and inadequate services. Project Hope supports residents to create new neighborhood associations or reinvigorate existing ones, develop the organizational and capacity building skills to better utilize and reach key City, and other public/private resources to address ongoing quality-of-life issues.

The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is seeking a Senior Construction Manager to provide highly complex professional work in the planning, management and oversight of construction and rehabilitation projects and programs. The Economic Development and Innovation Division is dedicated to fostering economic vitality by facilitating collaboration between businesses, community, and the city.  Our mission is to increase investments in San Rafael that contribute to the growth of the City's economy, foster fiscal sustainability, expand job opportunities for all residents, and enhance the community's quality of life.

THE ROLE AND PROJECTS:
Reporting to the Economic Development Program Manager, the Intern will be engaged in project-based work to advance key economic development strategic initiatives.  Examples of the work include, but are not limited to the following:

• Implement tasks outlined in the San Rafael Economic Development Strategic Plan.
• Develop a business support communications plan in collaboration with business support partners.
• Support Division Manager to activate outreach to businesses.
• Learn and assist with contract management.
• Evaluate resources available to various business groups through an equity lens.  Research strategies for business support for underserved sectors in San Rafael.
• Support activation of the Downtown San Rafael Arts District Strategic Plan.
• Administrative tasks as assigned.

HOURS, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
This position will work approximately 12-20 hours per week.  The candidate will have hands-on learning and work experience at San Rafael City Hall and outreach in the community.

This is a temporary position and hours worked may not exceed 1,000 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 thru June 30).

In accordance with the salary resolution, this position receives no benefits with the exception of Paid Sick Leave and a retirement plan.  

• Temporary employees are entitled to receive sick leave in accordance with California's Paid Sick Leave Law (AB 1522).
• Participation in a retirement plan is mandated by Federal Law and you will be enrolled in the Public Agency Retirement System (PARS):
  • Employee contributes 3.75% of salary
  • City of San Rafael contributes 3.75% of salary

StopWaste is hiring an Energy Council Program Services Specialist to work on Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN) programs. The position will conduct community outreach and engage with stakeholders to make energy upgrades and electrify multifamily and single family buildings in Alameda County and the larger Bay Area. The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a Purchasing Supervisor to join our team!

We are seeking a collaborative and results-oriented Purchasing Supervisor with excellent communication, strong technical experience, and effective leadership skills to join our Finance Department team. The Purchasing Supervisor manages the Purchasing and Municipal Services Center (MSC) warehouse functions for the City. With an emphasis on customer service, this position ensures material and service requirements are met in a timely, efficient, effective, and ethical manner. The ideal candidate will be an energetic problem-solver, ready to embrace challenges with creative solutions and advancements in technology.

The ideal Purchasing Supervisor candidate is a flexible and enthusiastic individual who can develop, mentor, and build relationships with team members and across the various departments they serve. The Purchasing Supervisor guides a team of six staff members located at three different City facilities.

The Purchasing Supervisor provides technical support, information, and assistance for purchasing materials, supplies, and services to all City Departments. The successful candidate will interpret, explain, and diplomatically enforce compliance with City procurement policies and procedures and all Federal and State rules and regulations. This position works closely with the Public Works Department and the Finance Department’s Accounting and Information Technology Divisions. These cross-functional teams work collaboratively to improve processes and procedures for efficient vendor management and payments, ensuring effective internal controls are implemented, monitored, and audited.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provides leadership and works with staff to ensure a high-performance, customer service-oriented work environment that supports achieving the department’s and the City’s mission, objectives, and values.
• Supervises and participates in developing, implementing, and evaluating plans, work processes, systems, and procedures to achieve annual goals, objectives, and work standards.
• Participates in the selection of Purchasing and warehouse staff; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies; conducts staff meetings as necessary.
• Establishes schedules and methods for providing Purchasing and warehouse services; identifies resource needs; reviews needs with appropriate management staff; allocates resources accordingly.
• Plans, organizes, and supervises the City’s purchasing operations; reviews, monitors, and approves City purchases; approves purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and related documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with purchasing and budgetary policies and procedures; ensures effective inventory control and issuance of equipment and supplies.
• Trains other departmental staff on purchasing rules and regulations, meeting with division managers, and one-on-one meetings; conducts procedural research when new issues arise and need to be researched, evaluated, and implemented.
• Administers formal and informal bidding and Request for Proposal (RFP) processes; assists departments with preparation and review of RFP and bid documents; ensures development of a competitive product specification; ensures all federal, state, and local laws are met; evaluates bids against specifications and per City code, laws, and established policy.
• Oversees and administers the City’s Cal Card Program; opens and closes accounts; conducts training sessions for new cardholders; monitors payments of invoices and types of purchases; audits cardholder statements; reviews vendor activity reports quarterly to determine if better pricing could be obtained through competitive bidding; prepares reports for Finance Director regarding card use.
• Oversees, monitors, and utilizes the purchasing website to solicit bids and review vendor activity; evaluates the vendor list to ensure integrity and accuracy of list; ensures all active vendors are registered; maintains solicitation to keep all data current.
• Oversees and manages vendor information and payment system entry including W9 processes and procedures.
• Oversees the activities for the MSC warehouse including the effective management of inventory and annual inventory count process.
• Maintains and updates a variety of manuals including purchasing manual and Cal Card administrative manual.
• Maintains current knowledge of new trends and innovations in the fields of purchasing and inventory management; attends and participates in professional group meetings; participates in professional development activities.
