THE POSITION

Reporting to the Director of Administrative Services, the Management Analyst (Risk Management) provides professional support to risk management programs including: workers' compensation, safety compliance, review and approval of contracts and Certificates of Insurance, risk transfer, and leave and disability administration. 

In addition, you will have the opportunity to coordinate and oversee workers' compensation claims administration including monitoring accepted claims and providing information to claimants, attorneys, and the workers' compensation carrier. You will also serve as a consultant to City departments and employees on Risk Management (workers' compensation, safety, contract insurance) problems and communicate regularly with internal and external parties to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of assigned programs and activities, minimize risk, and advise of claim developments. This position will also support the City's leave management program.

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael is recruiting for a Child Care Director.  Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, this position will perform responsible work in administering and managing a state-funded preschool program.  The incumbent in this position will independently oversee the program and staff at Pickleweed Preschool located in East San Rafael. 

This position performs the following essential job duties: 

• Assist with the establishment of the program budget
• Hire, train, and supervise staff
• Supervise timely completion of annual ECERS
• Supervise completion of DRDP assessments twice annually
• Supervise timely completion of parent surveys
• Supervise timely completion of two parent conferences annually
• Supervise timely ongoing child portfolios
• Supervise and implement systems for creating and maintaining regular written child observations
• Complete annual June 1st report to Department of Education
• Schedule staff and ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained
• Facilitate parent nights for families four times per year

The position is a shared assignment and will be scheduled weekly to work in Catering Connection and/or the WorkCenter. The Human Services Department (HSD) delivers and supports services by forging long-term community partnerships, engaging with and building the capacity of the community to do its own problem-solving, and leveraging financial and volunteer resources. The Department’s nationally and internationally recognized programs support thousands of residents throughout their life course, from infants to elders. The Aging and Family Services Division (AFS) of HSD specifically supports older residents and their caregivers to live active, healthy lives in the Tri-City community. With input from local, older adults (age 55 years+) as our guide, the AFS team strives to provide and AFS staff work together to provide a continuum of supportive services that range from health promotion activities to home-based end of life care. AFS has a Senior InfoLine (phone and email) that is answered in 4 language (Farsi, English, Spanish and Chinese) that is often an entry point. As an older adult or their caregiver’s situation changes, they seamlessly have access to a continuum of programs that include counseling and emotional support; care coordination and resource assistance; specialized family caregiver support and education. Many of these supportive services are provided in the resident’s home. We also provide regular expert clinical consultation, supervision, opportunities for self-reflection, and team building, fostering a culture of empathy, inclusivity, humility, and respect.

The Position

Under the supervision of the Age Well Center Managers, the Chef/Food Services Manager position manages meal programs for the City of Fremont’s Age Well Centers. Chef responsibilities across both Age Well Center locations include the performance of menu planning, purchasing of foodstuffs, preparing quantity meals, supervising and assisting kitchen employees and volunteers and maintaining clean and orderly kitchens.

The incumbent will be responsible for properly cooked, economical, and wholesome, well balanced meals in City operated Age Well Centers. This position is not limited to being responsible for the assignment of work, supervision and evaluation of paid and volunteer food service workers. The review and approval of proposed menus, food purchases, control and monitoring of expenditure rates; and institution of disciplinary actions are functions reserved for the Program Coordinator or Age Well Center Managers.

• Plan menus with consideration for the dietary needs of older adults, wholesomeness, quantity of food to be prepared and budgetary constraints.

The City of San Bruno Community Services Department is seeking a Food Services Coordinator to coordinate the lunch program and assist in the planning, organizing, coordination, and administration of community recreation programs for age 50-plus adults. The position works under the supervision of a Recreation Services Supervisor.

This position will perform food service management, food preparation, cooking, menu planning following Aging and Adult Services (AAS) guidelines; kitchen sanitation procedures, and routine cleaning of the kitchen appliances; purchase necessary supplies from vendors, keep detailed records of expenses and meals served, maintain food and supply inventory list. The position will also assist senior center staff in the development, scheduling, and implementation of a variety of fun lunch time activities and programs, such as the “Variety Show” and “Spring-Time Fun.”

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual who can follow recipes, plan and organize menus; prepare food in large quantities and manage kitchen operations to meet a fixed preparation and serving schedule; calculate ingredients and prepare required food quantities with minimum waste; follow safety practices, sanitation requirements and health code rules; maintain a variable work schedule based on needs of program and community center; follow oral and written instructions, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. • May perform needed custodial and general maintenance work as required.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

The Food Services Coordinator will possess the following:

• Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) Degree from a two-year college or university with a degree in hospitality management, culinary arts, institutional food preparation management, or a closely related field or Certificate in Culinary Arts from an accredited culinary school.
• One year experience in institutional food preparation management or related experience.
• Additional experience and training in institutional food preparation, community center use, nutrition, menu planning, and food preparation is desirable.
• Ability to obtain and maintain valid California State Driver’s License.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the following by the end of the probationary period:
  • First Aid and CPR Certification
  • California State certification in food safety (equivalent to the ServSafe Certificate).

In addition, the ideal candidate possesses the following competencies:

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael Library & Recreation Department, Child Care Division, is accepting applications for Child Care Instructor II to work in our School-Age Programs at Mary Silveira and Vallecito Children’s Centers.  Under the supervision of the Child Care Director, the Child Care Instructor II will provide developmental care and supervision to children enrolled in the childcare program; implement age-appropriate curriculum for children; establish and maintain supportive relationships with children and parents.  Incumbents in this position assume primary responsibility for planning, scheduling, and organizing curriculum and other activities for childcare participants.  In the absence of the Child Care Director, the Child Care Instructor II may assume those duties.

This position performs the following essential job duties (including but not limited to):      

• Plan, implement and supervise enrichment and recreation-based programs.
• Develop age-appropriate curriculum and activities to stimulate children’s cognitive skills, abilities, and development.
• Evaluate needs of children, staff, and site to maintain a safe and healthy environment for children and staff.
• Maintain accurate attendance and enrollment records; maintain appropriate confidential records.
• Supervise and coordinate the work of subordinate childcare staff.
• Monitor and order classroom supplies and materials as needed.

To be eligible for this position you must have knowledge of: 

• Stages and phases of Child Development.
• Age-appropriate curriculum development and implementation.
• Principles of parent communication and support.
• Instruction, supervision, and classroom management techniques.
• Appropriate disciplinary techniques.
