What You’ll Do

• Perform skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of diesel and gas-powered apparatus, vehicles, hydraulic systems for aerial ladders, and other like equipment.
• Accept assignments received in the form or oral or written communications.
• Determine the nature and extent of needed repairs, prioritize them, and perform necessary repairs.
• Inspect all department vehicles to ensure they meet proper safety protocols and are in standard working order.
• Maintain all vehicles to ensure safe working order for all employees.
• Perform regular servicing and preventative maintenance on all vehicles and apparatus including performing tune-ups, lube, oil, filter, Inspection, and chassis lubrication.
• Diagnose, service, maintain such things as: fire pumps, relief valves, and other control of plumbing equipment (proper certification required).
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair engines, power train components, transmissions, transfer cases, differentials, hydraulic and pneumatic brake systems, steering and suspension systems, and electrical systems.
• Perform welding and fabricating work when applicable.
• Operate all equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
• Perform routine shop maintenance and clean-up and dispose of hazardous materials according to established procedures.
• Keep records of work assignments for bookkeeping and tracking purposes.
• Potentially respond to unanticipated emergencies to make temporary and/or permanent repairs in the field.

The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a Purchasing Supervisor to join our team!

We are seeking a collaborative and results-oriented Purchasing Supervisor with excellent communication, strong technical experience, and effective leadership skills to join our Finance Department team. The Purchasing Supervisor manages the Purchasing and Municipal Services Center (MSC) warehouse functions for the City. The Purchasing Supervisor provides technical support, information, and assistance for purchasing materials, supplies, and services to all City Departments. This position works closely with the Public Works Department and the Finance Department’s Accounting and Information Technology Divisions. Primary Responsibilities:

• Provides leadership and works with staff to ensure a high-performance, customer service-oriented work environment that supports achieving the department’s and the City’s mission, objectives, and values.
• Supervises and participates in developing, implementing, and evaluating plans, work processes, systems, and procedures to achieve annual goals, objectives, and work standards.
• Participates in the selection of Purchasing and warehouse staff; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies; conducts staff meetings as necessary.
• Establishes schedules and methods for providing Purchasing and warehouse services; identifies resource needs; reviews needs with appropriate management staff; allocates resources accordingly.
• Plans, organizes, and supervises the City’s purchasing operations; reviews, monitors, and approves City purchases; approves purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and related documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with purchasing and budgetary policies and procedures; ensures effective inventory control and issuance of equipment and supplies.
• Trains other departmental staff on purchasing rules and regulations, meeting with division managers, and one-on-one meetings; conducts procedural research when new issues arise and need to be researched, evaluated, and implemented.
• Administers formal and informal bidding and Request for Proposal (RFP) processes; assists departments with preparation and review of RFP and bid documents; ensures development of a competitive product specification; ensures all federal, state, and local laws are met; evaluates bids against specifications and per City code, laws, and established policy.
• Oversees and administers the City’s Cal Card Program; opens and closes accounts; conducts training sessions for new cardholders; monitors payments of invoices and types of purchases; audits cardholder statements; reviews vendor activity reports quarterly to determine if better pricing could be obtained through competitive bidding; prepares reports for Finance Director regarding card use.
• Oversees, monitors, and utilizes the purchasing website to solicit bids and review vendor activity; evaluates the vendor list to ensure integrity and accuracy of list; ensures all active vendors are registered; maintains solicitation to keep all data current.
• Oversees and manages vendor information and payment system entry including W9 processes and procedures.
• Oversees the activities for the MSC warehouse including the effective management of inventory and annual inventory count process.
• Maintains and updates a variety of manuals including purchasing manual and Cal Card administrative manual.
• Maintains current knowledge of new trends and innovations in the fields of purchasing and inventory management; attends and participates in professional group meetings; participates in professional development activities.

San Mateo Medical Center is seeking an experienced Surgery Scheduling Specialist for a Full-Time, Extra-help position for the Surgery Department. The Surgery Scheduling Specialist provides technical, complex and specialized administrative support to surgeons and patients scheduled for surgery, which includes interaction with operating room staff and patients; handles multiple competing priorities; interacts with diverse customer groups; handles multiple patient-related tasks such as tracking patient financials to ensure information is correctly entered; and moves patients from the clinic to the operating room, including all pre-operative processes necessary for the patients prior to surgery, pre-op process sheets and clinic schedules, data entry of items into the operative database, financial reconciliation, and post-op order sets, and may have some responsibilities for ordering supplies or equipment.
 
The ideal candidate for this position will possess excellent communications skills, including the ability to communicate complex medical terminology to a variety of people with varying levels of medical knowledge. In addition, they would possess skills in conflict resolution, and problem solving. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work with challenging patients, and patients who may have a language or communication barrier. This position will require attention to detail, and therefore the ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
 
NOTE: The ability to speak, read and write in fluent English and Spanish is preferred for this position.
 
 Duties for this position may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Tracking patient financials to be sure they are correctly entered.
• Scheduling patients in the procedure clinic.  
• Updating the pre-op process sheet and clinic schedule in the computer.
• Entering data into the operative database.
• Interfacing between the Operating Room and Surgeon.
• Ability to schedule patients using the OR manager program.

The Position: 

Accounting Technician I

This is the entry-level class within the Accounting Technician series in the classified service.   The class is distinguished from the Accounting Technician II by the performance of more routine tasks and duties assigned to the position within the series.

Accounting Technician II

Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are frequently filled by advancement from the Accounting Technician I class, or when filled through recruitment, require additional experience.  The appointing authority will approve appointment or promotion based on the employee's demonstrated ability to perform the full range of duties for the class and meet the qualification standards for the class.  Incumbents within this class are distinguished from the Accounting Technician I by exhibiting a higher level of judgment and independence in performing the full range of duties as assigned.

• A Bachelor's Degree may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience in Finance/Accounting.

The Department of Public Works is recruiting for a Chief of Surveys to provide the following typical duties and responsibilities which may include but are not limited to:

     * Supervises an office technical staff in the preparation of drawings, corner records, record of surveys, reviewing improvement plans and specifications, parcel maps and tract maps.

DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The San José Police Department is dedicated to providing public safety through community partnerships and 21st Century Policing practices, ensuring equity for all. The Department is committed to treating all of San Jose's diverse community members with dignity, fairness, and respect, while protecting their rights and providing equal protection under the law.The San Jose Police Department is seeking a Division Manager for the Operations Support Services Division (OSSD) of the department. OSSD is comprised of approximately 89 employees, with a budget of approximately $9.4 million dollars. The OSSD Division Manager is an essential position within the Police Department and reports directly to the Captain of Bureau of Administration (BOA).

BOA and the OSSD operate and maintain critical systems in support of public safety on a 24/7 basis. The primary purpose of OSSD is to manage and maintain local, state and federal databases in order to assist in the identification, apprehension and prosecution of criminal offenders and to ensure officer and public safety. The Division is divided into five units, which include: Vehicle Records Unit, Report Processing Unit, Warrants Unit, Services & Communications Unit, and Fingerprints.

     * The Vehicle Records Unit processes all reports and calls related to stolen, recovered, impounded, private property towed, and repossessed vehicles. The Unit enters and updates data in all local, state, and national databases. Duties include coordinating with investigative units on the release of vehicles held for investigation or as evidence of crime.

     * The Report Processing Unit processes all incoming reports and provides a variety of services to the public, officers, and other government and law enforcement agencies.

     * The Warrants Unit processes all warrants. Duties include 24/7 "hit confirmation" for officers and other agencies checking the status of warrants, sending warrant abstracts to arresting agencies, managing "due diligence" documentation, purging expired warrants, updating local, state, and national databases, and providing services to members of the public who "self-surrender". This Unit is also responsible for processing traffic citations.

     * The Services & Communications Unit provides a variety of services to officers, other agencies and the members of the public. Services include data retrieval, requests for copies of reports, background requests and Clearance Letters for Visa & Immigration purposes. The Unit also processes subpoenas for records and Public Records requests. Duties include entries and updates of firearms and property in all local, state and national databases.

     * The Fingerprint Unit processes all "non-custodial" bookings and registrants. This Unit is also responsible for managing local, state, and national databases for all criminal citations.

This position will oversee OSSD and related issues in support of the Police Department's mission. The OSSD Division Manager will work closely with the Communications and Systems Development Division Managers and must possess strong leadership, decision-making, and collaborative skills. The Division Manager will take a critical role in developing a cohesive work environment and change management for the future.

The Division Manager will set division policy related to OSSD protocol and will ensure workforce productivity through effective interpersonal skills and adherence to instituted procedures. The Division Manager will supervise shift managers, assign and prioritize staff work, evaluate the performance of mid-level managers, act as the Custodian of Record for most records retained in the department, coordinate the release of Public Records Acts requests, and monitor the evaluation process for all of the Division employees.

The Division Manager will be responsible for preparing, administering and managing the Division budget. This will include drafting purchasing documents and maintenance of contracts. This will be accomplished by negotiating contracts, scheduling vendors and requesting services. The Division Manager will be responsible for holding contractors accountable in an expeditious and efficient manner. Additionally, the Division manager will be responsible for authorizing expenditures in compliance with City protocols and that the division budget is kept within the appropriate authorizations.

The Division Manager will oversee the management of all aspects of policy related to the Division's operation. This includes management of the Division's access to local, regional, state and nationwide databases such as the Records Management System (RMS), California Law Enforcement Telecommunications (CLETS), Sheriff's Law Enforcement Telecommunications (SLETS), National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and Criminal Justice Information Control (CJIC) systems.

The Division Manager will prepare and present Department reports for Senior Management and City Council. This will include preparing Annual Performance Plans and Quarterly Program Management Reports that encompass measures, accomplishments and needs of the Division.

The salary range for this classification is $131,187 to $207,658 annually. This salary range(s) includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience.

The essential functions of this position are as follows:

- A history of effectively managing staff and working in an environment in which senior department managers regularly balance competing expectations from groups with diverse points of views and interests.

-Skill in creating new approaches to a variety of unprecedented and problematic situations.

-Ability to manage a complex operation, communicate well with an experienced staff, including the oversight of a police support services operation for both day-to-day operations as well as future development.

-The division operates 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year including holidays. As such, the Division Manager must be available via telephone at all times. This position will require the employee to work 5 days a week and may be scheduled to work evenings, nights and/or weekends.

Selection Process

The City of Berkeley invites applications for the position of Community Health Worker Specialist! MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined above is:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and two (2) years of paraprofessional experience in a public health or related setting, supplemented by formal or approved in-service training, which has provided additional expertise and demonstrated proficiency in an area of specialization such as training, examination, screening, counseling, or outreach.

Additional health science and community health coursework may be substituted for the experience on a year by year basis, to a maximum of one (1) year.

Other requirements: Some positions require a valid California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record. Must be willing to work evenings or weekends. San Mateo Medical Center is seeking well-qualified candidates for the position of Occupational Therapist II.  
Currently, there is one full-time, limited-term vacancy and two Extra-Help, part-time, vacancies. These positions will plan and provide occupational therapy services for acutely ill or rehabilitative patients in an outpatient and/or inpatient setting.
Occupational Therapist II is the experienced journey level class in this series. Incumbents in this class perform the full range of general therapy treatments with a greater degree of independence and proficiency, additionally applying more specialized and advanced therapy treatments. Some individuals may also assist in providing technical advice and training to less experienced staff.
The ideal candidate has graduated from an accredited occupational therapy curriculum and is licensed as an Occupational Therapist by the California Board of Occupational Therapy and registered with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. They will also possess a Certificate of completion for a course in Basic Life Support as approved by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Additionally, the incumbent will have experience in working with adults, skilled nursing, and acute care.  Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required. Ability to work weekends and/or holiday coverage when necessary is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification:

• Possession of a Certificate of completion for a course in Basic Life Support as approved by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association; or must be obtained within six months of appointment.

Occupational Therapist II: One year of supervised experience in occupational therapy.

Knowledge of:

• Principles and methods of occupational therapy, as applicable to all types of cases found in a general hospital providing acute care or in a rehabilitative center.
• Physical and psychological problems of physically disabled, aged, gero-psychiatric and chronically ill patients.
• Principles of splint design and fabrication.
• Use and care of therapeutic tools and equipment commonly used in occupational therapy.
• Professional ethics and the fundamental laws of practice for occupational therapy.

• Administer and document occupational therapy treatments.
• Assess patient needs, analyze situations accurately and implement an effective plan of action.
• Adapt equipment to patient needs.
• Integrate occupational therapy services with other medical and institutional programs.
• Develop new programs in response to patient/department need.
• Explain and teach occupational therapy activities to patients, health care professionals and other interested persons.
• Exercise tact and good judgment in dealing with patients, staff and the public.
