General supervision is provided by a higher level professional or management position.  A Recreation Leader may provide lead direction to part-time or seasonal employees if applicable. Under the general direction of the Recreation Supervisor or the Parks & Recreation Director. with project oversight by Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Leader assists with developing, organizing, implementing, and leading a broad range of recreational activities and programs for all ages designed to meet the community needs and performs other related work required.

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the classification of Correctional Officer.  Under continuing supervision incumbents perform a wide variety of support in two areas: corrections, in which incumbents ensure the security, safety and care of individuals in custody; and bailiff, in which incumbents ensure the safety and security of the courts and their personnel during court proceedings; and perform related work as assigned. Incumbents may be assigned to either County Jail security or Court security.

The Yuba County Sheriff's Department is responsible for the administration of the Yuba County Jail and Jail staff. The Mission of the Yuba County Jail is to provide safe, efficient, humane and secure custody of all persons incarcerated. The county prisoner population is made up of those who are sentenced to county jail, those serving state prison sentences in the county jail under AB109, and those who are pre-trial and who have not yet been sentenced. The jail provides a necessary link in the criminal justice system. There are numerous programs operating within the facility including medical, kitchen, exercise, commissary, visiting, law library, inmate education, work programs, work furlough program, and inmate classification.

The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to fill current vacancies and establish an employment list for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher within the Sheriff’s Department.  The incumbent receives 9-1-1 system sheriff, fire, medical emergency and rescue calls; dispatches sheriff, fire and medical personnel following established procedures; maintains communication with officers in the field to ensure safety and provide back-up and information; provides relief coverage for the records unit; and performs related work as assigned. These classifications require shift work and the ability to make decisions and act appropriately in stressful situations. The work also involves interdepartmental cooperation with various public safety agencies located throughout the County to coordinate the most effective response to requests for assistance from the public.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Public Health Nurse Intern/Public Health Nurse in the Health and Human Services Department. This position provides the full range of public health nursing services including teaching, health assessment, and counseling services in homes, clinics, schools and community centers in connection with the prevention and control of diseases and adverse health conditions. Public Health Nurses are assigned to specific programs such as Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health, California Children’s Services, Child Health and Disability Prevention, Foster Care and communicable disease control. Performs related work as assigned.

Public Health Nurse Intern: is a recruiting and training level class established to qualify candidates for duties as a PHN in Yuba County Health & Human Services Department. Under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform a variety of public health nursing duties in assigned program areas while pursuing a Public Health Nurse Certification. Upon satisfactory completion of the PHN Certification, the PHN Intern are eligible for promotion to the level of PHN. Incumbents who do not successfully complete the PHN certification as prescribed herein may be released from employment.

Public Health Nurse: is the entry level in this class series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform a variety of public health nursing duties in assigned program areas. As experience is gained, assignments become more complex and are performed under more general supervision.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Registered Nurse in the Public Health Division within the Health and Human Services Department. Under general direction, the Registered Nurse promotes general health in the community through education and outreach; performs a range of nursing tasks such as specimen collection and processing; administering medication/injections, diagnostic skin tests and immunizations; completes appropriate paperwork such as logs, reports, and forms; coordinates the patient’s medical care with private physicians, public facilities and other health centers; reviews laboratory results; assists in monitoring quality assurance, infection control and safety activities; participates in COVID-19 response activities including testing and other activities; administration of general nursing care, including general health screenings; provision of quality nursing care to both adult and pediatric patients in a variety of settings in conjunction with or under the direction of the Public Health Officer. The City is interviewing to fill several openings for part-time positions.  Apply immediately to be considered.  Regular assignment and substitute (on-call) positions are available.  Hours for the 23-24 school year are typically 1-1.5 hours in the morning and 1-1.5 hours in the afternoon depending on the school location and schedule.

Primary responsibilities:

• Monitor and assist in crossing of school-age children during peak traffic times at select locations.
• Provide appropriate safety instruction for children crossing streets and intersections.
• Watch traffic flow and wait for an appropriate gap between vehicles to lead groups of school children safely across a street.
