The City of Sebastopol is seeking an engaging, inclusive, and talented leader well-versed in current and long-range planning, affordable housing, and development activities, administers housing and zoning codes, and serves as a liaison to the business community, including developing economic development strategies. Under administrative direction, the Community Development Director oversees all functions and activities of the Community Development Department. In addition, the Community Development Director may also oversee the building, inspection, and code enforcement functions of the City. 

This position coordinates Community Development Department activities with other City departments, officials, contractors, consultants, outside agencies, and the public to ensure cohesive and efficient development and planning processes. The Community Development Director reflects a demonstrative cultural competency working with all community members regardless of cultural differences or circumstances including race, ethnicity, religion, language, gender identity, age, marital and familial status, sexual orientation, diverse physical and learning abilities, socioeconomic status, and other identities. This position provides highly responsible and complex professional consult to the City Manager to advance the City's planning, housing, economic development, and building and development goals and objectives and may serve as the City Manager or Assistant City Manager in either manager’s absence or as assigned. Performs related duties as assigned.

This is an “at will” classification serving at the pleasure of and receiving administrative direction from the City Manager. This role's duties allow for a broad scope of independent decision-making within legal, policy, and regulatory guidelines. It involves exercising general direction and supervision over professional, technical, and administrative support staff.

We are seeking a customer service-oriented individual with the competence and experience to address challenges with confidence and professionalism. The Plan Check Assistant performs a range of duties in reviewing and checking building construction plans (residential, commercial, and industrial) for compliance with all applicable State and City codes.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Review construction plans for additions, alterations, repairs, and other projects to ensure compliance with all applicable codes and ordinances
• Respond to inquiries from, and provide information to architects, engineers, contractors, building designers, owners, and the general public regarding project status, plan checking, and other code code-related issues
• Provide assistance at the public service counter (over-the-counter plan checking, code questions, and permit issuance)
• Perform routine engineering analysis and calculations
• Approve over-the-counter plan revisions to issued permits

The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a Purchasing Supervisor to join our team!

We are seeking a collaborative and results-oriented Purchasing Supervisor with excellent communication, strong technical experience, and effective leadership skills to join our Finance Department team. The Purchasing Supervisor manages the Purchasing and Municipal Services Center (MSC) warehouse functions for the City. With an emphasis on customer service, this position ensures material and service requirements are met in a timely, efficient, effective, and ethical manner. The ideal candidate will be an energetic problem-solver, ready to embrace challenges with creative solutions and advancements in technology.

The ideal Purchasing Supervisor candidate is a flexible and enthusiastic individual who can develop, mentor, and build relationships with team members and across the various departments they serve. The Purchasing Supervisor guides a team of six staff members located at three different City facilities.

The Purchasing Supervisor provides technical support, information, and assistance for purchasing materials, supplies, and services to all City Departments. The successful candidate will interpret, explain, and diplomatically enforce compliance with City procurement policies and procedures and all Federal and State rules and regulations. This position works closely with the Public Works Department and the Finance Department’s Accounting and Information Technology Divisions. These cross-functional teams work collaboratively to improve processes and procedures for efficient vendor management and payments, ensuring effective internal controls are implemented, monitored, and audited.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provides leadership and works with staff to ensure a high-performance, customer service-oriented work environment that supports achieving the department’s and the City’s mission, objectives, and values.
• Supervises and participates in developing, implementing, and evaluating plans, work processes, systems, and procedures to achieve annual goals, objectives, and work standards.
• Participates in the selection of Purchasing and warehouse staff; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies; conducts staff meetings as necessary.
• Establishes schedules and methods for providing Purchasing and warehouse services; identifies resource needs; reviews needs with appropriate management staff; allocates resources accordingly.
• Plans, organizes, and supervises the City’s purchasing operations; reviews, monitors, and approves City purchases; approves purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and related documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with purchasing and budgetary policies and procedures; ensures effective inventory control and issuance of equipment and supplies.
• Trains other departmental staff on purchasing rules and regulations, meeting with division managers, and one-on-one meetings; conducts procedural research when new issues arise and need to be researched, evaluated, and implemented.
• Administers formal and informal bidding and Request for Proposal (RFP) processes; assists departments with preparation and review of RFP and bid documents; ensures development of a competitive product specification; ensures all federal, state, and local laws are met; evaluates bids against specifications and per City code, laws, and established policy.
• Oversees and administers the City’s Cal Card Program; opens and closes accounts; conducts training sessions for new cardholders; monitors payments of invoices and types of purchases; audits cardholder statements; reviews vendor activity reports quarterly to determine if better pricing could be obtained through competitive bidding; prepares reports for Finance Director regarding card use.
• Oversees, monitors, and utilizes the purchasing website to solicit bids and review vendor activity; evaluates the vendor list to ensure integrity and accuracy of list; ensures all active vendors are registered; maintains solicitation to keep all data current.
• Oversees and manages vendor information and payment system entry including W9 processes and procedures.
• Oversees the activities for the MSC warehouse including the effective management of inventory and annual inventory count process.
• Maintains and updates a variety of manuals including purchasing manual and Cal Card administrative manual.
• Maintains current knowledge of new trends and innovations in the fields of purchasing and inventory management; attends and participates in professional group meetings; participates in professional development activities.

The Town of Los Altos Hills is recruiting for a Finance Director.

Actual salary will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. The salary receives an automatic CIP adjustment every July.

The Department: 

The Finance Department administers the financial affairs of the City of Santa Clara, including City-owned public utilities. The department is comprised of five divisions, Administrative Services, Budget and Treasury, Accounting, Municipal Services, and Purchasing. Together these divisions carry out the mission of the Finance Department to ensure that the financial/fiscal activities of the City are performed, recorded, and presented in compliance with professional and ethical standards.  

The Position: 

Accounting Technician I

This is the entry-level class within the Accounting Technician series in the classified service.   The class is distinguished from the Accounting Technician II by the performance of more routine tasks and duties assigned to the position within the series.

Accounting Technician II

Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are frequently filled by advancement from the Accounting Technician I class, or when filled through recruitment, require additional experience.  The appointing authority will approve appointment or promotion based on the employee's demonstrated ability to perform the full range of duties for the class and meet the qualification standards for the class.  Incumbents within this class are distinguished from the Accounting Technician I by exhibiting a higher level of judgment and independence in performing the full range of duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Accounting Technician I

Minimum Requirements: 

• Graduation from high school or possession of a GED;
• Completion of thirty (30) semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units from an accredited college or university including at least six (6) semester units or nine (9) quarter units, which must be in Accounting or Bookkeeping;
• One (1) year of work experience in Finance/Accounting (accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, or general accounting);
• Experience with electronic spreadsheet and word processing programs; and
• Ten-key by touch.

Acceptable Substitution: 

• Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on the basis of one (1) year of experience for fifteen (15) semester units.  (There is no substitution allowed for the requirement for six (6) semester units or nine (9) quarter units in Accounting or Bookkeeping.)
• A Bachelor's Degree may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience in Finance/Accounting.

Desirable Qualifications: 

• Experience with on-line financial and/or payroll systems;
• Experience with PeopleSoft Financial or Human Resources/Payroll Systems.

Accounting Technician II

Minimum Requirements: 

• Graduation from high school or possession of a GED;
