In the Land Use Division of the Planning Department, incumbents are responsible for: Tracking permit activity; Researching zoning history, land use policies, development trends, and precedents; Supporting commission meetings; Preparing written reports and presenting to commissions, committees, community members, and other boards; Assisting in preparing amendments to the General Plan, Municipal Code, and/or other policy and procedure documents. In the Transportation Division of the Public Works Department, incumbents are responsible for: Assisting with research, planning, conceptual design, and delivery of transportation and parking projects; drafting public notification materials, assisting with organizing and/or attending outreach events, and conducting in-person outreach; producing maps and graphics for transportation projects and parking operations; assisting with the City's coordination and monitoring of privately-operated shared mobility programs, including bicycle sharing and scooter sharing; assisting with preparation of transportation plans and policy documents, including the Pedestrian Master Plan Update, transportation impact analysis guidelines, and Complete Streets Policy implementation guidelines; and supporting the ongoing operation of the City's demand-based parking pricing program (goBerkeley), including conducting periodic data collection, analyzing data in Excel and GIS, and assisting with preparation of parking policy documents.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The Position

The Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo seeks a collaborative, innovative problem solver, experienced with housing authority operations for the position of Executive Director to provide exceptional leadership at a high-performing agency.

With general direction from the Department of Housing Director and Housing Authority Board of Commissioners, the Executive Director organizes, coordinates, and directs through management staff all Housing Authority functions and activities; provides policy guidance and strategic direction regarding housing issues; fosters cooperative working relationships with the Board, HACSM staff, the public and other agencies; and performs related work as assigned. This position has overall responsibility for department administration, policy development, financial, operational and planning functions, and other activities of the Housing Authority. Example of Duties

• Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct through subordinate staff, the work of the Housing Authority.
• Establish organizational priorities; schedule and monitor the quality and timeliness of the work performed.
• Work closely with and advise the DOH Director, the Board of Commissioners, Housing Authority staff, the public and other agencies to implement a variety of efficient and effective housing programs

In the Land Use Division, the Associate Planner performs a variety of professional activities in support of the City's planning services. In the Transportation Division, the Associate Planner works on a variety of projects, programs, and initiatives, such as developing, implementing, and updating the City's transportation plans; analyzing transportation and traffic safety data to identify and prioritize projects and policies that will improve public safety; developing Complete Streets projects and supporting the implementation of transportation capital improvement projects; and coordinating with transit providers, primarily AC Transit, on transit projects affecting Berkeley, including service planning and bus stop improvements. Additional duties may include leading grant applications and assisting with grant compliance, procurement of consultants, and consultant and contract management.

Program Overview:

The Child Welfare Mental Health (CWMH) team serves children ages 6-17 years old and their families who have a voluntary or court-ordered open case with Children and Family Services (CFS). For all CFS referred youth, we administer the CANS, among other assessment tools. We interview the children, caregivers, and any relevant parties as part of this assessment process. Based on these assessments, we provide various therapeutic services (e.g., individual therapy, family therapy, dyadic therapy, psychiatric evaluations, etc.). We work in conjunction with pediatric nurses, doctors, and psychiatrists. When appropriate or upon CFS case closure, CWMH therapist transfers mental health services to other BHRS programs or to our network of community-based agencies/providers.

Position Description:

We are hiring a Bilingual Spanish-speaking clinician to provide assessments, brief crisis/stabilization, therapy, case management services, and treatment summaries to the court for children aged 6-17 years old. The ideal candidate will provide trauma-informed child abuse treatment and work closely with the foster care system.

Our clinicians carry an outpatient caseload and services are community-based. We can conduct therapy at our BHRS therapy offices, but mostly conduct therapy off-site (e.g., at the child’s school, homes, etc) based on what is convenient for the child/family. So, having a car to travel within San Mateo County is necessary to the work. It is important to note that for work-related travel, the candidate can choose to use county cars or if they decide to drive their vehicle, they can also get mileage reimbursement.

We serve residents of San Mateo County who are often of racial/ethnic minorities and low-income status. Our team consists of master’s level clinicians (licensed and unlicensed). Therapists have weekly individual supervision and a weekly clinical staff meeting where cases are discussed. There are ongoing training opportunities to learn skills in a wide variety of modalities (e.g., Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Focused CBT, DBT, NMT, etc.). The work that this team does is critical for the health and well-being of many children and youth in San Mateo County. Although the work often comes with the challenges connected to trauma, it also provides a rich and rewarding experience.

Water Resources Mechanics perform a wide range of tasks involving mechanical maintenance and repairs of pumps, plumbing systems, electric motors, compressors, piping, boilers, underground infrastructure, facilities and buildings, carpentry, HVAC systems, mechanical drives, gear boxes, blowers, collectors, belt filter presses, and chemical feed systems. The work is done at the Water Reclamation Plant, located at 101 West Jack London Boulevard in Livermore.

A Water Resources Mechanic I performs a range of tasks requiring journey level mechanical ability and aptitude. Work assignments are performed according to established rules and procedures. Independent judgment is required and is supported at regular intervals by supervisory review and direction. A Water Resources Mechanic II is distinguished from the WR Mechanic I by the possession of advanced journey level mechanical ability and aptitude and is responsible for solving more difficult technical problems.

Position Summary

Under general supervision, the Ferry Mechanic performs preventative, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, trouble-shooting, repair, and modifications on structural, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, piping and control systems found on ferry vessels and passenger terminals; performs related work as assigned. Responsibilities include record keeping and written verification of work accomplished.
 

Essential Responsibilities

• Working with computers on a daily basis for work scheduling, work order entry and work order reporting on the Districts electronic maintenance system in addition to notifications and communications.
• Conducts tests, analyses and measurements as directed to diagnose any unusual, erratic or malfunctioning occurrence in any shipboard or terminal system or component.
• Reports any unusual wear patterns, noise, pressure, temperature, or changes in voltage, current, cycles, resistance or any other indication of potential malfunction.
• References manufacturer schematics including blueprints, drawings and specifications to resolve maintenance issues.
• References parts catalogues and other sources to determine correct parts for specific applications.
• Performs inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs and overhauls as directed.
• Documents and records work performed and parts and materials used in the electronic maintenance system. 
• Reports all safety hazards and corrects unsafe situations immediately where possible.
• Immediately reports to supervisor any potential maintenance problem or condition which could cause a possible schedule delay.
• Maintains all work areas, special tools and equipment used in performing maintenance function, in a clean and orderly manner.
• Operate a forklift and other equipment/vehicles safely.
• Interacts on a regular basis with vessel operations personnel.
• Adheres to the safety and health rules and safe working practices applicable to job.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District employees, customers, vendors and all others contacted during the course of work using principles of excellent customer service. 
• Performs additional related duties as assigned.
• Regular and reliable attendance and performance required. 

Minimum Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: 

• Completion of a four (4) year apprenticeship program, or approved equivalent as a heavy equipment or marine mechanic OR four (4) years of progressively responsible journey level full-time work experience performing to the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment which should include mechanical, electrical or welding repair, and at least one year in an industrial environment.
• Experience in corrective and preventative maintenance records using a computer-based maintenance management information system
• Experience in utilizing MS Windows based software for data entry, work order processing and materials requisitioning

Required License:  

• Must possess and maintain a current, valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record (Operates District Vehicles).
• No DUI’s or Reckless Driving codes within the last 7 years. 
• No more than two moving violations within the last 3 years.

Required Tools:

• Must have a full set of journey level hand tools to accomplish assigned work.

Hours:

• Shifts are scheduled based on seniority.
• The Ferry Maintenance Department operates 7 days per week, except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s day.
• Must be available to work all shifts; some overtime maybe required to handle emergencies.

Physical Requirement:  

Requires frequent and extensive physical activities such as: lifting and manipulating up to 50 lbs., bending, standing, stooping, kneeling, twisting, climbing, gripping, and other movements related to essential duties. Work around fumes, odors and dust in an occasionally high noise level environment with appropriate personal protective equipment. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Ability to wear a respirator and be fit tested. Must wear hearing protections when performing certain duties.

We have exciting internship opportunities available at the City of Millbrae’s Public Works Department.  The Public Works Department is looking to hire two (2) interns for the Engineering Division. This is an open-ended internship without a specific term. The working schedule is to be determined based on business needs and candidate availability, and no more than 1,000 hours in a fiscal year.
