In the Land Use Division of the Planning Department, incumbents are responsible for: Tracking permit activity; Researching zoning history, land use policies, development trends, and precedents; Supporting commission meetings; Preparing written reports and presenting to commissions, committees, community members, and other boards; Assisting in preparing amendments to the General Plan, Municipal Code, and/or other policy and procedure documents. In the Transportation Division of the Public Works Department, incumbents are responsible for: Assisting with research, planning, conceptual design, and delivery of transportation and parking projects; drafting public notification materials, assisting with organizing and/or attending outreach events, and conducting in-person outreach; producing maps and graphics for transportation projects and parking operations; assisting with the City's coordination and monitoring of privately-operated shared mobility programs, including bicycle sharing and scooter sharing; assisting with preparation of transportation plans and policy documents, including the Pedestrian Master Plan Update, transportation impact analysis guidelines, and Complete Streets Policy implementation guidelines; and supporting the ongoing operation of the City's demand-based parking pricing program (goBerkeley), including conducting periodic data collection, analyzing data in Excel and GIS, and assisting with preparation of parking policy documents.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college with major coursework in city, regional, or urban planning, or a closely related field. Progressively responsible related experience may be substituted for the college coursework on a year-for-year basis.

The Position

The Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo seeks a collaborative, innovative problem solver, experienced with housing authority operations for the position of Executive Director to provide exceptional leadership at a high-performing agency.

With general direction from the Department of Housing Director and Housing Authority Board of Commissioners, the Executive Director organizes, coordinates, and directs through management staff all Housing Authority functions and activities; provides policy guidance and strategic direction regarding housing issues; fosters cooperative working relationships with the Board, HACSM staff, the public and other agencies; and performs related work as assigned. This position has overall responsibility for department administration, policy development, financial, operational and planning functions, and other activities of the Housing Authority. • Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct through subordinate staff, the work of the Housing Authority.

Additional duties may include leading grant applications and assisting with grant compliance, procurement of consultants, and consultant and contract management.

We have exciting internship opportunities available at the City of Millbrae’s Public Works Department.  The Public Works Department is looking to hire two (2) interns for the Engineering Division. This is an open-ended internship without a specific term. The working schedule is to be determined based on business needs and candidate availability, and no more than 1,000 hours in a fiscal year.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Refuse Truck Driver II

This is a journey level class and is distinguished from the Maintenance Worker I classification by the ability to perform the full range of duties assigned with only occasional instruction or assistance as unusual or unique situations arise. This class is distinguished from the Senior Refuse Truck Diver in that the latter provides technical and functional supervision over assigned staff or division programs and responsibilities.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

Receives general supervision from a Public Works Supervisor. May receive technical and functional supervision from a Senior Refuse Truck Driver.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Include but are not limited to the following:

• Drives and operates a variety of collection vehicles and equipment including one or two-person-staffed refuse collection truck, front, rear and side loaders in the collection and transportation of residential and commercial refuse; responds to afterhours call-outs if assigned.
• Maintains assigned truck by regular cleaning and washing, including inspecting for mechanical or other operating problems; reports mechanical or related problems for maintenance; may perform minor maintenance as appropriate.
• Operates hydraulic/mechanical controls to load, compress, and dump refuse; collects and disposes of debris on assigned route; transports refuse to/unload at appropriate landfill sites and/or sewage treatment plant.
• Assists with battery sorting, electronic waste collection, bin repair or delivery, cardboard removal, illegal dumping cleanup, and any other related solid waste program or assignment.
• Completes and posts notification tags on containers, bins and dumpsters for unacceptable contents for refuse collection.
• Prepares, maintains and submits records, reports and forms including time records, equipment and maintenance records, and route maps and logs.
• Responds to questions and concerns from the general public; provides information as is appropriate and resolves public service complaints.
• Establishes positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations, state/local agencies, City management and staff and the public.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment. The need to lift, carry and push tools, equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. Additionally, the incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions including wet, hot and cold. The incumbent may use cleaning and lubricating chemicals, pesticides or herbicides which may expose the employee to fumes, dust and air contaminants. The nature of the work also requires the incumbent to climb ladders, use power and noise producing tools and equipment, operate hydraulic aerial devices, drive motorized vehicles and heavy equipment, work in heavy vehicle traffic conditions and often work with constant interruptions.

THE POSITION

Perform professional civil engineering work in the planning, design, technical investigation, and construction of projects in public works, transportation, capital improvements, and structural engineering. An example of duties include:

• Participates in the preparation of plans and specifications for the construction of streets, storm drains, street lighting, traffic signals, buildings and related public works and City building projects; researches project design requirements; performs calculations and prepares estimates of material costs and time considerations.

The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is seeking a Senior Construction Manager to provide highly complex professional work in the planning, management and oversight of construction and rehabilitation projects and programs. The Asset Management Division, along with the Real Estate Development Division, are part of SCCHA’s Real Estate Department.  The team working in Real Estate is mission oriented, dynamic and collaborative. The team works closely together to creatively develop new affordable housing as well as preserve existing assets.

This position requires extensive knowledge of construction management and/or rehabilitation of affordable housing properties, development and monitoring of public project budgets, procurement and solicitation methods and professional service and contract administration in regulations, principles, practices, methods, and procedures of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), tax-exempt bonds, Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and other affordable housing funding programs.

What Our Team Is Looking For:

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in community or real estate development, construction management, business or public administration or related field; and
