The District is recruiting for the position of Human Resources Technician I/II in the Human Resources Office. Please note that this is a temporary position expected to be 12 months in duration, not to exceed 06/30/2025.
  

DEFINITION
Under general supervision, provides technical and administrative support work in a variety of Human Resources functions, including benefits, onboarding/offboarding and other human resources programs.

 

Examples of Duties for this Position

• Assists in the administration of employee benefits and leaves, retirement and health insurance programs; informs and advises employees regarding these programs: contacts insurance carriers and third-party administrators involved with the District's programs to resolve problems and answer employee questions.
• Processes District personnel actions and benefits in District’s Human Resources Information Systems or other computer software programs.
• Conducts new employee orientations and offboarding and provides information regarding District programs and policies.
• Maintains and updates personnel files, procedures, forms and records.

The City of Berkeley is seeking a General Services Manager to join the Finance Department! In this role, you will act as the division head and will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the programs and activities of the General Services Division. The incumbent will have management responsibility for this division, which provides for the centralized purchasing, central duplication and mail services for the City. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college with major course work in accounting, business administration, information technology or public administration or a related field, and four (4) years experience with management and supervisory responsibility for purchasing, accounts payable or other municipal services functions similar to those identified herein, of which two (2) years of experience must have been in managing a centralized purchasing operation.

A Dance Instructor (Program Specialist) will plan, prepare and instruct recreation activities. Activities may include art, cooking, dance, pre-school program and other program areas. Programs are designed for children ages 4-17 (primarily 5-12) years of age.

Dance programs may include ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, ballroom, folkloric, salsa, and rhythmic international styles.

• Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age
• Different program areas will have different skills and knowledge requirements for the position; check with Recreation Supervisor. (For example: 6 ECE unites required for pre-school instructor)
• One school year teaching experience
• At least one year's experience working with children in an academic setting
• Must be willing and able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as required

The Department of Public Works is currently seeking to fill multiple full-time Engineer I/II vacancies of different disciplines that may be assigned to work in the various divisions of the department including Transportation and Hydraulic Services (THS) or Development Services (DS).

Transportation and Hydraulic Services Division The Transportation and Hydraulics Services Division is responsible for the design, construction, and master plan of bridges, culverts, streets, sidewalks, storm and sanitary sewers, pump stations, streetlights, landscape and hardscape improvements, traffic signals, and supports construction and engineering, upgrade and revitalization of the San Jose-Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility. Development Services Division

Airport Capital Improvements Program

The Airport Division Capital Improvements team is responsible for the project management and delivery of capital projects related to San Jose Mineta International Airport.

City Facilities Architectural Services Division CFAS Division has the primary responsibility for the delivery of capital improvements projects on City properties and provides design and construction services for public buildings, landscape improvements, and capital maintenance projects, including recreational facilities, parks, trails, libraries, public safety facilities, and various cultural facilities.

Engineering Services Division

The Engineering Services Division is comprised of four sections: Construction Management Services, Structural Engineering and Code Inspection, Material Testing Laboratory, and Survey. This division provides technical support services to City Capital Improvement Programs and Projects, development/utility permit projects, and other citywide customers.

The department of Parks, Creation and Neighborhood Services is currently seeking to fill two Part Time Security Officers positions for Happy Hollow Park and Zoo.

Under the direction of the HHPZ Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Supervisor, the part time Security Officer performs security work of moderate difficulty in maintaining a safe environment for the use of public buildings/facilities utilized by San José and Bay Area Residents. This is a highly visible City-wide facility and program with a focus on ensuring safety, security, and customer service for the guests, partners, and staff of Happy Hollow Park & Zoo.      * Walk HHPZ - inside park, outside fence line, parking lots - East Lot, K1, K2 & K4

     * Communicate with Guard Vendors, walk facility with new guards from vendor

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.

• A typical way to qualify is three years of progressively responsible professional-level experience in the field of Human Resources within a public-sector environment, specifically regarding ADA in general and Title I specifically, Leave of Absence, Workers' Compensation, and insurance policies.
• Experience should also include at least one year performing supervisory duties.

Knowledge of:

• Principles and practices of public administration, and program management, including planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Principles, theories, and practices of human resource management relative to the Americans with Disabilities Act, FMLA, Workers' Compensation, Long-Term Disability, etc.
• Public-sector insurance practices and policies.
• Personnel management principles and techniques, including interviewing, selection, training, supervision, evaluation, motivation, discipline, and staff development.
• Information systems applications relative to the administration of leave requests.
• County policies and procedures and pertinent State, Federal, and local laws relating to human resource management.
• Research and analysis methods and principles.
• Techniques for conducting effective public presentations.
• Industry trends relative to ADA Title I Accommodations, Leave of Absence, and Workers' Compensation and public-sector insurance.

Central County Fire Department (CCFD) serves the Cities of Burlingame and Millbrae and the Town of Hillsborough. The Department serves a population of 66,045 from six fire stations across a service area of approximately 15 square miles. CCFD is supported by 91 FTEs and a FY2023-24 operating budget of $33.14 million. 

CCFD seeks a hands-on human resources professional with a solid foundation in public sector personnel management. This knowledgeable individual will have a well-rounded background and understanding of the various human resources disciplines, with particular strength in labor relations. As the sole service provider in Human Resources, they will enjoy multi-tasking and working on a variety of projects and priorities in a supportive and collaborative organization.

The HR Manager will oversee recruitment and selection, labor and employee relations, employee training and development, performance management, classification and compensation, benefits, leave management, and Workers’ Compensation administration.
