Under general supervision of the Senior Automotive Equipment Specialist, typical duties of the Communications Installer include installing 2-way radios into a variety of vehicles, including but not limited to Police vehicles and motorcycles, Fire department apparatus and other city department vehicles.

Installations are to be industry accepted best practices including the selection of proper wire sizing based on electrical loading, equipment placement with emphasis on serviceability, proper wire routing, proper power distribution, antenna placement, and grounding/power return.

The Communications Installer will also be responsible for the installation of intercom systems, emergency/warning lighting, vehicle electronics, computer equipment and terminals, antennas, and custom installations of non-standard equipment. This equipment is commonly used in emergency vehicles and municipal equipment.

About the Communication Division

The Communications Division implements environmental-specific media, outreach, and marketing activities to support the health of our community and environment. The communication services division includes strategic communications planning, multi-cultural community engagement, media relations, social media, collateral development, and website management.The Environmental Service Department is recruiting for a Senior Public Information Representative within the department's Communications Division. San Jose Animal Care Services, a division in the Public Works Department is currently seeking to fill four (4) full-time Animal Care Attendant vacancies. Both day and night shifts are available.

Animal Care Attendants report to the Shelter Manager of Animal Care and Services and are primarily responsible for feeding, caring for, and moving shelter animals; euthanizing animals; and cleaning and disinfecting kennels and cages. Other duties may include receiving animals brought to the shelter by Animal Control Officers or the public; assisting the public in claiming impounded animals or in adoptions; completing and maintaining animal records; responding to questions regarding age, breed characteristics and treatment of animals; and explaining and interpreting animal control laws, ordinances, regulations, procedures, and policies to the public.

DEFINITION

• OPERATOR I (COLLECTION)
  Under general supervision or direction, the Operator I (Collection) is responsible for the overall operation of the wastewater collections system, which includes the repair and maintenance of the sewer collection system and pump stations.
   
• OPERATOR II (COLLECTION)
  Under general direction, supervises the operation of the Collections System of the Wastewater Treatment Plant on a designated shift to ensure processing and discharge of wastewater which complies with performance standards of State regulatory agencies; perform any combination of tasks involved with inspection, construction, repair, and preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance of sanitary personnel; prepares logs and other records; performs maintenance tasks as required and other related duties as required.
   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION REQUIREMENTS

For the Collections System, ability to locate, detect cause, and correct sewer stoppages; detect and perform minor repairs and adjustments to sewer equipment; maintain pumps and related mechanical equipment; and report to work at any time during an emergency.  Perform electrical and mechanical repairs, maintenance work and modification to equipment used in a water quality control plant; use various mechanic’s tools with skill and accuracy; available for standby on sewer calls on a rotation basis; follow oral and written directions; maintain working relationships with other employees.  (See Physical Demands section as it relates to Essential Function Requirements.)

  • Performs operation and maintenance on sanitary sewer pump station.

  • Lead a crew in the safe performance of preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance of sanitary sewers
  • Respond to service requests, unclog mainline stoppages, and keep records on sewer line cleanings and state of existing problems within the Collections System
  • Repair mainline breaks, replace broken pipe and reconnect pipe sections
  • Operate power rodder, jet truck, backhoe and TV equipment
  • Conduct periodic inspections and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to wastewater pumping stations and equipment
  • Keep daily logs and records on equipment; makes reports to the supervisor
  • Provide technical assistance and prescribe work methods and safety procedures to maintenance workers and utility workers
  • Inspect installation of new sewer lines, laterals and related structures; may study blueprints and specifications preparatory to inspection of construction project
  • Supervises the work of all operating personnel assigned to shift; trains and evaluates performance of shift employees, enforces safety procedures in conformance with policy of plant’s safety program.

The City of Patterson is seeking to fill one (1) part-time vacancy for a Facility Attendant in the Recreation Department and to establish an eligibility list.

Duties include, but are not limited to: under direct supervision, performs a variety of facility related tasks to ensure effective operations at the Recreation and Community Services Complex and related facilities and parks. Prepares facilities for use; works with users during events; provides set-up and arrangements for classes, meetings, and public and private events; registers participants for recreational programs; assists with cleaning and maintaining of Community Services' facilities including removing and disposing of trash, sweeping, and mopping of floors.  Provides staff support for recreation events and programs.

This vacancy is specifically for the Property/Evidence CSO position.

The City of Foster City is looking for a dedicated and responsible individual to join the Police Department as a Senior Community Services Officer. This position requires mature judgement and discretion and is given specialized training. We are seeking highly skilled individuals with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Under general supervision, this position supplements administrative staff and provides support for sworn staff in police operations. There are four main assignment areas for the position, but currently there is only one vacancy in Property/Evidence.

Property/Evidence Assignment
Maintain and manage property and evidence of the department, including maintaining the property / evidence rooms; receive, collect, catalogue, store, handle and transport evidence; reviews files on case-by-base basis for disposition in accordance with Penal Codes and Law; assist in providing training to officers on proper packaging of evidence; prepare basic police reports, compile complex information; manage equipment inventory, provide information, telephone and front counter service, order and maintain evidence supplies and necessary equipment, perform payroll data input and payroll preparation/coordination, and other duties as assigned.

Education and Training Guidelines:
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way would be:

Education:  A high school diploma or equivalent with courses in office administration or specialized job training, with undergraduate college course work, specialized administrative or law enforcement education and/or training. An associate degree is desirable.

Experience:  Two (2) years of full-time experience using computers, telephones, radios and other modern office equipment and programs including preparing, compiling and distributing records, budgets, reports and statistical information. Prior experience in Property/Evidence is desirable.

Licenses and Certifications: Possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License and a good driving record.

Selection Process

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview. An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner. 

The department will invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a final department interview. Applicants selected for a Departmental interview must complete a background investigation which includes a polygraph and fingerprinting. The City of Simi Valley has a hiring opportunity for an Inventory Support Specialist.  This position is a key team member in the Sanitation Services Division of Public Works.  An Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for managing and optimizing inventory levels, conducting audits, and maintaining accurate records. They ensure that inventory is accounted for and properly stored, and will be involved in forecasting supply needs and coordinating with suppliers.  Some of the duties will be to maintain up-to-date records of Division assets and warehouse inventories; orders, receives stocks and issues parts and materials using an Enterprise Asset Management Software and interfaces with the Enterprise Resource Program (MUNIS) through the processing of new and completed inventory requests.  Assists in the planning, scheduling, and coordination of Division resources; and performs other administrative related duties for managing and optimizing inventory levels and conducting audits.

The Deputy District Secretary reports to the Executive Officer, District Secretary, and will perform detailed, complex, and highly responsible administrative and technical work. This would include providing support for the Boards of Directors and committees of the San Mateo County Transit District (“SamTrans”), Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (“Caltrain” aka “JPB”), the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (“TA”), and The San Mateo County Express Lanes Joint Powers Authority (“Express Lanes” aka “SMCELJPA”).
