The Maintenance Assistant/Maintenance Worker I is the flexibly staffed entry/journey class in the Maintenance Worker series, described as follows:

San José Mineta International Airport is accepting applications for the position of Maintenance Assistant. This vacancy is for our Swing Swift team, which is roughly from 2:00 p.m. - 10:00 pm.

The Maintenance Assistant position is responsible for raking leaves and debris, digging post holes, trimming hedges and trees, as well as cleaning large areas that contain debris, weeds, abandoned materials, catch basins and gutters. The Maintenance Assistant will also be required to safely operate pressure washers, scrubbers, sweepers, pick-up trucks, as well as tractors with flail mower attachments. Other responsibilities include assisting with forming, pouring and finishing of new concrete surfaces, and working on landscape projects near roadways, which may involve proper set-up of roadway markings and traffic control. In addition, this position will be responsible for planting ground covers, flowers, plants and trees, using a variety of soil amendments and fertilizers. The use of power hand tools for the maintenance and repair of plumbing fixtures, doors, roofs, sanitary sewer line cleaning, changing lamps, emptying trash and picking up trash/debris in assigned areas will also be required.

Other duties may include:

- Digs holes, trenches, and ditches using picks, shovels, jack hammers, spades, cultivating forks, post hole diggers and other tools; loads, unloads, shovels, and rakes sand, gravel, dirt, fertilizer, loam, asphalt, and other materials.

- Participates in the repair of sewer lines, checking of sanitary sewers, laying of sewer pipes, and installation of sewer connections.

- Performs labor in the planting, cultivating, trimming, removing, watering, and spraying of lawns, plants and other vegetation.

- Mows and trims lawns, rakes leaves, hoes weeds, clears paths and trails, empties trash containers, cleans equipment, structures, and facilities, such as courts, swimming pools, park grounds, restrooms and work areas.

- Performs labor in the erecting of tree supports

- Sets up cones and barricades for traffic and safety control, may perform as a flag person.

- Lifts heavy weights.

- Operates small dump trucks, light flatbed trucks, portable cement mixers, small sweepers and other equipment.

- Uses tools such as air spades, tampers, picks, shovels, hoes, rakes, pruning shears, rototillers, trimmers, shears, edgers, loppers, pruners and other items.

- Uses general carpentry, mechanical and hand tools, such as saws, drills, wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, ladders and other tools.

- Is responsible for safe operation of equipment and tools.

Under general supervision of the HVAC Supervisor, typical duties of the HVAC Controls Technician include:

•Evaluates and specifies personal computer hardware. Upgrades operating systems, specifies and configures hardware/software.

•Design control systems and Lon/Bacnet/Modbus networks.
•Monitors system performance for availability, speed, capacity, storage issues and security problems. Change the performance of systems and prevent the items shown above from becoming problems. •Creates/reviews/modifies controls sequence of operation statements and in some cases implements by writing custom algorithm in controllers as needed to accomplish control strategies.
•Develops and recommends design plan for LON/Bacnet/Modbus/LAN/WAN networks, including research and developments of a capacity plan (number of users, applications needed, logistics, switch connectivity, routers, etc.).
•Consults with outside vendors, establishes and maintains vendor purchase orders, evaluating performance and suitability with regard to the technical nature of installed system wide HVAC BMS system.
•Adjusts control algorithms, settings and/or replacing failed controllers as needed in response to customer complaints.
•Researches suitable replacements for obsolete control equipment to ensure interoperability.

The Housing Department

ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is currently recruiting for a full-time level I or II (depending on qualifications and experience) Civil Engineer to provide technical assistance for Capital Improvement Program (CIP) delivery projects in the Public Works Department. CIP engineering tasks will be the primary focus of this position. However, to appropriately respond to community needs, the Engineer I/II may also provide support to the Land Development and Transportation engineering sections, so adaptability and flexibility are keys to success in this position.

In this exciting opportunity, you will be at the forefront of designing, planning, and overseeing various infrastructure projects that directly impact our community. The Engineer I/II will work under the direct supervision of a Senior Civil Engineer and will perform professional or sub professional engineering work in the field and office. Assignments will involve investigating, developing, and constructing a wide variety of public works facilities, and engineering projects that are geared towards transforming and modernizing the City of Gilroy.  This is in addition to representing the City in community meetings and hearings, meetings with project stakeholders, and on regional committees as applicable.

The Public Works Engineering Division is comprised of three engineering sections overseen by the City Engineer: Traffic/Transportation Engineering, Capital Improvement Program (CIP), and Land Development.  
Though the primary focus for this position is CIP, work assignments may vary and may include any of the following:
CIP: prepare plans, specifications and engineering estimates for Capital Improvement Projects, prepare requests for proposal/qualifications and contracts in conformance with the City's Purchasing Policy, oversee the City’s 5-Year Paving Program through the use of StreetSaver, manage consultant led projects and inspection teams, and assist the Senior Engineer with project budgeting and grant writing.
Traffic/Transportation: prepare plans, specifications, and engineering estimates for traffic and transportation related projects, prepare requests for proposal/qualifications and contracts in conformance with the City’s Purchasing Policy, manage various traffic and transportation projects and inspection teams, manage the City’s Sidewalk Replacement Program, work on various traffic studies, participate in regional transportation programs and initiatives, and assist the City Engineer with project budgeting and grant writing.
Land Development: assist in the review and processing of land development projects, plans for conformance to City standards and policies, storm water management plans with City consultants, preparation of City plan check comments, and construction material submittals. The Engineer will engage with developers and construction inspectors to track project review and approval schedules, and provide coordination with City master plan utility consultants.

EXAMPLES OF FIRST YEAR PROJECTS/ASSIGNMENTS:

• Prepare plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for public works capital improvement projects including roadways, trails, facilities-related projects.
• Annual pavement rehabilitation curb ramps, sidewalk replacement, and traffic calming projects. 
• Assist in administration of the bi-annual Public Works Department budget and Capital Improvement Program.
• Administer consultant contracts.

The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is the county’s largest provider of affordable housing, helping make rental housing safe and affordable for approximately 20,000 low-income households. 

How You Will Make an Impact:

The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is seeking an Asset Manager to provide professional, technical and administrative asset management duties in support of a portfolio of Agency owned assets. The Asset Manager ensures compliance with programmatic and financial regulations, oversees property operations, and works with property management to ensure the physical, financial and social well-being of affordable housing assets.  The Asset Management Division, along with the Real Estate Development Division, are part of SCCHA’s Real Estate Department.  The team working in Real Estate is mission oriented, dynamic and collaborative. The team works closely together to creatively develop new affordable housing as well as preserve existing assets.

This position requires extensive knowledge of property maintenance, construction project management, capital planning and systems management, budget preparation and financial modeling to analyze portfolio performance. 

What Our Team Is Looking For: 

Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience likely to provide the required core competencies may be considered. A typical combination that is qualifying may include: 

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in community development, business, economics, urban planning, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field; and
• A minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience performing asset management, real estate development, property management, and/or construction management functions.
• Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) experience is desirable.
• Possession of a valid California Driver's License and satisfactory driving record at the time of appointment is required as a condition of initial and continued employment only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than the employee's ability to get to/from various work locations in a timely manner, is necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. 

Hours: Casual non-benefited employees are limited to working no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week and no more than 900 hours in a fiscal year (July 1-June 30). Varying shifts are available including Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Under general supervision, individuals assigned to this classification assist the organization to develop and design reports, websites, social media collateral and other marketing and presentation materials. This classification focuses on the development of written and graphic representation for division or department materials. Individuals in this classification are primarily focused on enhancing the Division’s social media presence, developing all written material, performing administrative tasks, attending fairs and events to promote Recreation Services programs; and perform/ related work as required.

This position is characterized by developing new and innovative marketing collateral with limited structure or routine work. Work assignments are performed in collaboration with various divisions and levels of staff, independently, with responsibility for following through on development. Contacts are regularly made both internally and externally at all levels of the organization involving tact, discretion, good listening and customer service skills. The position requires creative ability, knowledge of how to generate graphics using The Adobe Suite, Canva, Microsoft Publisher, Word and Excel and the ability to exercise a reasonable degree of independent judgment. This classification assists with development and implementation of standards for consistency in materials, written and posted on the internet. Additionally, the position requires good written communication skills, public relations, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills and abilities. The Marketing Associate receives direction from program supervisors and management staff.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Position is required to work on the Community Center campus and may not work from home. Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination when using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision when reading and using a computer. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service. The need to lift, push and pull files, paper and documents weighing up to 25 pounds also is required.
