Job Responsibilities:
The Veterinary Technician will perform  basic physical examination of animals on intake; understand infectious disease; communicate effectively with colleagues and the public; perform functions required for pre- and post-surgical care including inducing anesthesia; maintain all necessary controlled substance drug logs and patient records.

Example of Job Duties

• Provide intake examinations and interviews.
• Assess, record and maintain health and temperament information on all animals.
• Conduct pre-adoption health evaluations for dogs, cats, and other species.
• Vaccinate animals, provide treatment, and administer medications as prescribed by a veterinarian.
• Assist veterinarians with high volume spay/neuter surgeries and other medical procedures.
• Administer injections including, but not limited to, anesthetics, pain medications, and vaccinations.
• Intubate animals, place intravenous catheters, perform venipuncture and administer fluids as needed.
• Monitor vital signs of sedated and anesthetized patients in pre-operative, operative, and post-operative phases.
• Ensure anesthetic machines, pulse oximeters, scales, and other equipment are functional and report equipment that is not working properly.
• Work with coworkers to clean and disinfect animal areas, equipment, instruments and facility while utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Maintain inventory of all pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and supplies.
• Maintain accurate and thorough records of all surgeries, drugs administered, and other information according to all mandated federal, state, local, and professional standards, and procedures.
• Provide technical and functional lead supervision and training to animal services staff and volunteers.
• Conduct humane euthanasia of domestic animals and wildlife.
• Communicate with all clients in a non-judgmental, effective and professional manner.
• Communicate basic veterinary medical concepts to clients, including, but not limited to vaccine protocols and anesthetic risks.
• Explain information provided by the veterinarian about an animal’s condition to clients.
• Collaborate and foster good communication with colleagues.
• Support any field staff as assigned.

Definition
Under general supervision, the Senior Land Surveyor supervises and coordinates the activities of field and office surveying functions and assists the Survey and Mapping Manager with supervisory and administrative functions of the Survey Services Unit.

Distinguishing Characteristics
This is a single position classification responsible for assisting the Survey and Mapping Manager in supervising the efforts of subordinate personnel including surveyors, engineering technicians, and consultants. The Senior Land Surveyor can be assigned to any of the following areas: supervision of survey activities in the field for design and construction projects, supervision of office surveying functions such as mapping, writing legal descriptions, and production of accurate calculations used for engineering, real estate and construction activities.

This classification requires that the incumbent be licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in the State of California or equivalent and possess specialized knowledge of land surveying techniques and construction surveying, with emphasis on technology such as GPS (Global Positioning System) methodology and instrumentation. This position will supervise professional and/or administrative staff, as well as identify the need for establishing and administering consultant contracts. This position works with other public agencies (e.g., Caltrans, local cities and counties, water district) to establish property exchanges and rights of way for transportation improvements.

Essential Job Functions

Typical Tasks

• Selects, supervises, trains, motivates, assigns, evaluates, counsels and disciplines subordinate personnel;
• Supervises office and field survey activities;
• Advises survey staff regarding methods and techniques of surveying;
• Provides direction to the Survey Department's Record Drawing Group as needed;
• Coordinates surveying activities with real estate agents, engineers, inspectors, contractors, etc.;
• Attends pre-construction meetings or assigns survey staff to attend and keeps informed on projects and related activities;
• May recommend design changes to conform with field conditions;
• May administer consultant contracts;
• Supervises personnel performing office and/or field work required for preparation of Record of Survey Maps, Parcel Maps, Corner Records, legal descriptions, and construction layout plans for VTA projects;
• Serves as Responsible Charge as described in the Professional Engineers' and Land Surveyors' Act including stamping, signing, and certifying the correctness of documents;
• Interprets legal descriptions of real property;
• Uses AutoCAD, Softdesk, and other computer aided design software in the development of maps and calculations;
• Interacts with various public and private organizations;
• Prepares clear and comprehensive reports and technical correspondences;
• Performs technical surveying work as required including GPS surveying, running level loops, and producing maps and legal descriptions;
• Performs related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Employment Standards
Sufficient training, education, and experience to demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Development of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is typically obtained through training and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in surveying science, engineering or a related field and a minimum of eight (8) years of technical surveying experience, at least three (3) years of which must have been in a position comparable to that of a field surveying Chief of Party and/or office surveying "Lead" Land Surveyor. Directly related experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year for year basis.

Registration as a Professional Land Surveyor in the State of California or equivalent is required at the time of appointment.

The Rent Stabilization Program provides mediation and arbitration services to landlords and tenants in rent-controlled apartments, oversees rent controlled mobile homes and provides information and referrals for non-rent controlled rental units in San José. Under the direction of a Senior Analyst, the position provides information and assistance to the public and staff on many aspects of rent stabilization and rental housing laws, regulations, and procedures. The position may prepare petitions from the public in preparation for hearings under the City's rent stabilization and related ordinances, answer public inquiries to the Rent Stabilization Program, track and analyze data and outcomes, as well as perform other complex tasks required in the administration of housing programs. This position will assist in outreach and education functions and may assist tenants and landlords in accessing eviction prevention resources, including emergency rental assistance and legal services. The position may collect documents and assess eligibility of tenants and landlords for an eviction diversion program. The incumbent will be expected to make public presentations, interact with tenants, property owners, and their representatives and must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with persons from diverse social, cultural and economic backgrounds.

Duties of the positions may include:

• Responding to inquiries from the public regarding Apartment Rent Ordinance, Tenant Protection Ordinance, Mobile homes Ordinance, and related rules, regulations and policies and making referrals to other agencies, as appropriate.
• Processing petitions from landlords and tenants and supporting Hearing Officers and mediators throughout the hearing and mediation process. Assisting parties to the petition in developing all information needed for presentation in hearings without bias toward either party.
• Facilitating the resolution of petitions and complaints where possible through voluntary agreements between the parties that are consistent with the City's housing ordinances and policies.
• Tracking and reporting outcomes of petitions.
• Manage relationships and contracts with contract employees providing mediation and arbitration services for the Rent Stabilization Program.
• Assisting landlords in maintaining compliance with City rental housing ordinances through enrollment in the City's rental programs, maintenance of business licenses, and other city and state permit requirements as appropriate.
• Working with developers, contractors and across departments to ensure compliance with Ellis Act and other tenant displacement ordinances
• Participating with groups in analyzing and evaluating community conditions and needs; offer guidance and counsel in the establishment of goals and techniques of achievement.
• Conducting outreach to San José's diverse communities to educate landlords and tenants about their rights and responsibilities

• Analyzing rent and other data to ensure compliance with City ordinances.

StopWaste is hiring an Energy Council Program Services Specialist to work on Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN) programs. The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently seeking one full-time Animal Care Technician.  Under general supervision, Animal Care Technicians assist in the daily maintenance, feeding and care of animals housed in the county’s animal care facility including those subject to quarantine, injured or ill; assist with euthanizations; provide information to the public regarding lost or stray animals; assist with licensing, pet adoptions and community volunteer programs; and perform related work as assigned.  This class is a working level class in the animal care series. 

Animal Care Services is a division of the Sheriff's Department.  Animal Care Services provides services for the unincorporated areas of Yuba County and is located in Olivehurst, California.  Animal Care Services care for lost animals, injured and abandon animals, and a provide variety of services that protect both citizens and animals. Most importantly, they keep lost pets safe and happy so they can be reunited with their owner or adopted into a new family.
