The San José Fire Department's (SJFD) core mission is to serve the community by protecting life, property, and the environment through prevention and response. SJFD is a high-volume, all-hazards fire department providing fire suppression and rescue services that protects approximately 200 square miles, Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support services as well as specialized operations including Urban Search and Rescue, Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting, and a Hazardous Material Unit with a Decontamination Unit. This is the trainee level class in the Firefighter series, responsible for becoming proficient in the understanding of lifesaving and firefighting methods within the SJFD. Through a specific program comprised of general and specialized education, focused training including extensive hands-on experience, Firefighter Recruits will learn diverse tasks, policies, procedures and standards within the SJFD. Incumbents will learn techniques in emergency medical services, rescue work, firefighting and other emergency services. Duties may involve considerable physical exertion and potential risk to health and safety. Work is rigidly structured, highly supervised, and incumbents are continuously evaluated and receive feedback regularly. Firefighter Recruits must graduate from the Academy and be appointed to the class of Firefighter in order to retain employment in the job series.

 As a Park Services Officer Aide, you will:

The Ideal Candidate

Work Schedule: This is a 20-24 hours per week position. The regular work schedule is Thursday and Friday; weekend work may be occasionally required. This position is limited to up to 1000 hours per year. However, employment might end sooner, depending on the needs of the hiring department. Extra-help positions are paid hourly and are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the extra-help assignment.

Benefits

• $86,683 to $105,364 annually
• Non-exempt employees assigned to a 56-hour (average) workweek schedule will receive pay for overtime as defined in the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). All overtime shall be paid at a rate of one and one-half (1 ½) times the regular hourly rate of pay.
• All covered employees hired on or after December 28, 2012, who are not defined as “new members” under the Public Employees Pension Reform Act (“PEPRA”) will be covered by the 3% @ 55 retirement formula and the 36 highest consecutive months’ final compensation provision.  All covered employees hired on or after January 1, 2013, and who are defined as “new members” under PEPRA will be covered by the 2.7% at 57 retirement formula and the 36 highest consecutive months’ final compensation provision. 
• Regular employees, after completion of their probationary period, shall be eligible for the Health Care Reimbursement Program. Eligible employees receive a credit of $1300 each January 1.
• For all regular employees working full time, the District will pay 85% of the premiums currently in effect for employee and dependent coverage for the lowest cost plan available to District employees offered through the PERS system.
• For all regular employees working full-time, the District will pay 85% of the premiums for employee and dependent coverage for the lowest-cost dental plan.  In the event the employees elect a higher cost coverage, the employees shall pay the increased cost for that plan.
• A Group Life Insurance Plan will be provided with a $25,000 life insurance policy for each unit member, a $1,000 policy for each employee's spouse, and a $1,000 for each employee's dependent under the age of 21.  The CCSD will pay the full monthly premium for each unit member, spouse, and dependent children.
• Covered employees assigned to a 56-hour average workweek schedule shall accrue 4.31 hours of vacation leave biweekly (112 hrs/yr) from the date of hire to sixty (60) months of service.
• Each full-time employee, assigned to a 56-hour average workweek, shall accrue sick leave from the date of employment at the rate of 6.4 hours per 14-day payroll period (based on 120 hours per year times the conversion factor of 1.4).
• In lieu of time off on holidays, covered employees assigned to a 56-hour workweek shall accrue 5.92 hours of holiday leave per 14-day payroll period for a total of 154 hours per year (based on 110 hours per year times the conversion factor of 1.4). 
• The District shall provide covered employees with an annual boot or safety shoe allowance of $250, payable in July of each year.

About Happy Hollow Park & Zoo (HHPZ): This is a 16-acre amusement park and Association of Zoo's & Aquariums (AZA) accredited zoo located in San José, California. HHPZ is open year-round catering to families with children. About Zookeeper Full Time/Part Time: The position performs work involving the care and feeding of zoo, domestic farm, and/or non-domestic animals and maintenance of enclosures, grounds and service areas; working with animals under all types of climatic conditions to prepare them for presentations, training, capture and restraint, basic husbandry, and behavioral enrichment. Parks Planning and Design Manager Class Specification

Definition
Under administrative direction, plans, organizes, manages, and directs the activities of the Landscape Architecture Division; serves as a key staff member in the administration, development, and implementation of policies, systems, and procedures to facilitate the implementation of the City’s Park Master Plan; oversees and directs the supervision and activities of citywide tree preservation and landscape development policies; and gives professional advice on landscape matters.

Class Characteristics 
This is a single position management classification reporting to the Community Services Director.  The incumbent has considerable latitude in the application of department policy as it relates to division activities and follows general guidelines or professional and administrative standards in accomplishing assignments; the incumbent is expected to identify policy issues and work with other staff to develop options and recommend solutions.  This classification is distinguished from the Senior Landscape Architect by the latter’s responsibility to manage the staff and activities of one or more sections of the Landscape Architecture Division.

Central County Fire Department (CCFD) serves the Cities of Burlingame and Millbrae and the Town of Hillsborough. The Department serves a population of 66,045 from six fire stations across a service area of approximately 15 square miles. DEFINITION:

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

Community resources adaptable to the development of community services programs for specified recreation programs.  Principles of program coordination, training and evaluations.  Emergency procedures, First Aid and CPR.  Safety principles, practices and procedures.

Skill to:

Apply First Aid methods and safety precautions related to assigned programs.  Develop and maintain support for programs from the community and local organizations.  Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.  Oversee train and evaluate assigned staff.  Establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of the required duties.  Operate office equipment, including a personal computer.

Ability to:

Develop cooperative public relations with the general public.  Remain calm in stressful situations.  Be consistent when enforcing rules and regulations.  Maintain authority and control over programs.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent.  Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

Two (2) year of increasing responsible experience in the delivery of recreation services. A Bachelor’s Degree may be substituted for one year of experience.

License or Certificates:

When only assigned to recreation duties, the following is required and must be maintained during the course of employment.

• Required upon hire:
  •  Valid California Driver’s license,
• Required within six months of hire,
  • Possession and maintenance of a current American Red Cross First Aid Certificate or equivalent and
  • Current American Red Cross Community CPR Certificate or equivalent

How You Will Make an Impact:

The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is seeking a Senior Construction Manager to provide highly complex professional work in the planning, management and oversight of construction and rehabilitation projects and programs. The Asset Management Division, along with the Real Estate Development Division, are part of SCCHA’s Real Estate Department.  The team working in Real Estate is mission oriented, dynamic and collaborative. The team works closely together to creatively develop new affordable housing as well as preserve existing assets.

This position requires extensive knowledge of construction management and/or rehabilitation of affordable housing properties, development and monitoring of public project budgets, procurement and solicitation methods and professional service and contract administration in regulations, principles, practices, methods, and procedures of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), tax-exempt bonds, Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and other affordable housing funding programs.

What Our Team Is Looking For: 

Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience likely to provide the required core competencies may be considered. A typical combination that is qualifying may include: 

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in community or real estate development, construction management, business or public administration or related field; and 
• A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in management of commercial or public construction, rehabilitation, and retrofit activities including two (2) years in a supervisory or management capacity.
• Credentials in the following may substitute combination of education and/or experience: registration as a Certified Construction Manager (CCM); possession of a Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California Architectural Board or as a Professional Engineer by the State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors; and a valid Construction Manager (CCM) credential by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI).

Possession of a valid California Driver's License and satisfactory driving record at the time of appointment is required as a condition of initial and continued employment only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than the employee's ability to get to/from various work locations in a timely manner, is necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
