What You’ll Do

• Perform skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of diesel and gas-powered apparatus, vehicles, hydraulic systems for aerial ladders, and other like equipment.
• Accept assignments received in the form or oral or written communications.
• Determine the nature and extent of needed repairs, prioritize them, and perform necessary repairs.
• Inspect all department vehicles to ensure they meet proper safety protocols and are in standard working order.
• Maintain all vehicles to ensure safe working order for all employees.
• Perform regular servicing and preventative maintenance on all vehicles and apparatus including performing tune-ups, lube, oil, filter, Inspection, and chassis lubrication.
• Diagnose, service, maintain such things as: fire pumps, relief valves, and other control of plumbing equipment (proper certification required).
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair engines, power train components, transmissions, transfer cases, differentials, hydraulic and pneumatic brake systems, steering and suspension systems, and electrical systems.
• Perform welding and fabricating work when applicable.
• Operate all equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
• Perform routine shop maintenance and clean-up and dispose of hazardous materials according to established procedures.
• Keep records of work assignments for bookkeeping and tracking purposes.
• Potentially respond to unanticipated emergencies to make temporary and/or permanent repairs in the field.

THE POSITION OF BODY WORN CAMERA PROGRAM MANAGER

Is a vital non-sworn position that manages the Body Worn Camera Program and assists members of the Police Department with managing body worn camera equipment, the assignment of the devices, replacing worn/and or damaged equipment, assists with training the police officers who wear them and assist in the maintenance of body worn camera equipment. The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently recruiting for two full-time Animal Care Services Officer. Under close supervision, incumbents enforces State and County laws regarding stray, dangerous, rabid, nuisance and unwanted domestic animals; investigates complaints; patrols assigned areas; captures animals; removes dead animals from public and private properties; assist in feeding and cleaning animal enclosures; assist with euthanizations and disposal of animals in a humane and prescribed method and performs other duties related to humane animal protection and control; performs related work as assigned including assisting the public with drop off, pick up and adoption of animals as necessary.  This is a working level class in animal control, responsible for enforcing applicable regulations in a limited public officer capacity. Successful performance of the work requires skill in dealing with the public in difficult situations as well as a willingness to handle animals that may be injured or ill.

• Stays current with new developments in the field of Training and Adult Learning Strategies.  Assesses the effectiveness of in-house training programs and recommends program upgrades with presented examples.
• Conducts skills gap assessments.  Develops a comprehensive training curriculum for all mechanic classifications, including Utility Workers, and reviews and updates as needed based on current technologies.
• Stays current with new technologies as they pertain to District fleets.
• Collaborates on all maintenance programs regarding quality assurance, makes recommendations where necessary to ensure the quality of the workforce training programs, and works with appropriate maintenance management staff to ascertain requirements and changes within industry best practices.
• Helps plan, organize, and execute the SamTrans Maintenance Rodeo and competition teams.  Mentors and coaches the maintenance team at the regional and international competition.
• Assumes the duties of Chair and/or Secretary of the joint Labor-Management Maintenance Training Committee.
• Ensure core curricula follows all regulatory and safety requirements, and best practices.
• Develops and implements training programs for newly hired employees.
• Performs all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect self, fellow employees, and the public from injury or harm.  Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents.

You have:

Education:  Equivalent to completion of twelfth (12th) Grade or High School equivalency.

License:    Possession and maintenance of a valid Class C California Driver's License.

The Veterinary Technician will assist in the care of animal patients at the City’s animal shelter.
