TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: PROVISIONAL (TPV)

This is not a permanent appointment. A provisional appointee must participate and be successful in a Civil Service Examination process for this classification and be selected through an open competitive process in order to be considered for a permanent appointment. Job Description

Under general supervision, the Tool Room Mechanic and Custodian is responsible for keeping, issuing, receiving and repairing tools and equipment utilized by the Airport’s Custodial Services unit; preventing minor losses through the safeguarding of tools and equipment; and keeping records of items received, issued and on hand; performs related duties as required.

1. Inspects tools and trouble-shoot equipment used in the cleaning maintenance program at San Francisco International Airport 
2. Maintains and repairs tools and equipment including assembly, disassembly, cleaning, ordering new parts and reassembly, including electrical and mechanical equipment.
3. Performs safety checks on tools and equipment.
4. Checks on tools and equipment returned for defective parts; orders replacements of supplies and stock items as required.
5. Repairs/replaces hoses, belts, electric plugs and electrical extension cords, on/off switches and replacing equipment fuses.
6. Repairs/replaces various wheels, filters, squeegee assemblies and squeegees on equipment.
7. Maintains custodial equipment through assisting/training staff regarding regular maintenance of janitorial equipment.
8. Performs and maintains custodial preventive maintenance program.  
9. Provides data to update tool and equipment repair database.  
10. Provides input regarding necessary replacement cycles and inventory of necessary repair parts.
11. Works in cooperation with current vendors and other repair facilities with regard to repair of larger pieces of cleaning equipment.

Nature of work requires some physical effort and dexterity in the use of fingers, limbs and body; intermittent exposure to working conditions where minor injuries may occur.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires completion of eight (8) years of elementary school, supplemented by at least one (1) year of experience in general mechanical maintenance and repair work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

POSITION

Supervise, plan and coordinate the functions of the Laboratory, Industrial Wastewater Pretreatment Program (WPP), and related environmental compliance programs.  Performs and reviews analysis of potable water, wastewater, stormwater and related materials. Ensures sampling, monitoring, testing, reporting, WPP, and other environmental compliance programs comply with Federal, State and local requirements for potable water, wastewater and stormwater utilities.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy in the Public Works Department, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Ideal Candidate for the Laboratory Supervisor position will have experience working in a wastewater or water laboratory, with knowledge of State, Federal and Local regulation and rules. This person will be familiar with water, wastewater, storm water, industrial pretreatment and related programs, and have a laboratory background in chemistry and microbiology as it applies to water, wastewater, stormwater, industrial pretreatment compliance programs.  In addition to meeting the minimum requirements of the position, the Ideal Candidate will be an independent thinker who is well organized, has excellent communication skills (written and oral), and good time management skills.  Previous supervisory experience is very desirable as this position will be responsible for supervising, mentoring and counseling division staff and programs as necessary.

Plan, program and supervise monitoring, sampling, and testing to ensure WPCF processes, potable water production, potable water distribution, and stormwater runoff comply with State and Federal standards. Supervise and coordinate laboratory quality assurance and quality control programs; develop new methods of laboratory analysis consistent with Federal and State guidelines. Work with and direct outside labs or environmental firms on water quality matters. Plan, program and supervise the goals and objectives of the Industrial Wastewater Pretreatment program. Coordinate pretreatment program activities for the Sanitary Sewer Management Plan and Stormwater NPDES Phase II permit. Review and approve quarterly and annual pretreatment reports. Interpret and enforce regulations related to pretreatment, wastewater collection and stormwater collection. Prepare detailed draft budgets, assist in preparation of final budgets and administer adopted budgets. Monitor legislation and make recommendations concerning compliance issues related to potable water, wastewater, stormwater, pretreatment and related programs. Compile, sign and submit monitoring and compliance reports to appropriate State and Federal Agencies. Perform advanced analysis on data to provide information for decision making. Represent the City on routine basis with State and Federal agencies, and other public bodies. Participate in professional groups and committees and with the general public regarding potable water, wastewater and stormwater, pretreatment and related programs. Participate in the hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of subordinates. Regular and consistent attendance. 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Assist with studies to audit and improve plant operations; conduct and assist with tours and regulatory inspection; respond to questions and requests from the general public. Ensure laboratory and pretreatment shop are maintained in a safe, clean and orderly condition. Ensure that maintenance, repair and calibration of laboratory and pretreatment equipment complies with process safety manual and manufacture recommendations. Observe safe work methods, practices and precautions; use appropriate safety devices and equipment in accordance with laboratory and pretreatment standard operating procedures. Plan safety and training programs and ensure that safety precautions and regulations are adhered to by subordinates. Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor of Science degree with major course work in chemistry and biology or a closely related field.

Experience:  Two (2) years of experience conducting chemical or biological laboratory analyses including two (2) years of experience performing laboratory analysis of water, wastewater or stormwater. Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in pretreatment and environmental compliance desirable.

License and Certificate:  Required upon hire, possession of a valid California Driver's License.  Possession of a current California Water Environment Association Grade II.  Laboratory Analyst certificate within 18 months of appointment.  Possession of a current California Water Environment Association Grade I Environmental Compliance Inspector certificate is desirable.

Project Hope is a neighborhood engagement and empowerment initiative focused on nine neighborhoods in San Jose. Organized into operational teams, Project Hope staff are assigned to specific neighborhoods, where they assist residents to address the conditions and circumstances that exist due to systemic racism such as crime/violence, blight, lack of trust, marginalization, and inadequate services. License or Certificates:

When only assigned to recreation duties, the following is required and must be maintained during the course of employment.

The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is seeking a Senior Construction Manager to provide highly complex professional work in the planning, management and oversight of construction and rehabilitation projects and programs. The Asset Management Division, along with the Real Estate Development Division, are part of SCCHA’s Real Estate Department.  The team working in Real Estate is mission oriented, dynamic and collaborative. The team works closely together to creatively develop new affordable housing as well as preserve existing assets.

This position requires extensive knowledge of construction management and/or rehabilitation of affordable housing properties, development and monitoring of public project budgets, procurement and solicitation methods and professional service and contract administration in regulations, principles, practices, methods, and procedures of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), tax-exempt bonds, Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and other affordable housing funding programs.

What Our Team Is Looking For: 

Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience likely to provide the required core competencies may be considered. A typical combination that is qualifying may include: 

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in community or real estate development, construction management, business or public administration or related field; and

This is a temporary position and hours worked may not exceed 1,000 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 thru June 30).

You will be responsible for leading collaborative efforts across the Air District, and for working in close partnership with a variety of stakeholders including communities and local governments. You will leverage your knowledge of land use, transportation, air quality, CEQA, equity and environmental justice to lead and conduct research, analyze issues, prepare and deliver presentations, develop planning documents and resources, lead environmental impact assessments, and crafting actionable recommendations.

• Lead the development and delivery of new and innovative policies, programs and projects to accelerate emission and exposure reductions in communities most disproportionately impacted by air pollution.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with community-based organizations, community members, local governments, regional, state and federal agencies to develop and implement local and regional air quality plans and programs.
• Lead collaborative projects and programs that actively engage staff from other Divisions to advanced local community health protection goals and objectives in overburdened, low-income, and communities of color.
• Guide difficult, sensitive or high visibility projects, including updates to the Air District California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Thresholds of Significance, Air Quality Guidelines, and supporting tools and technical guidance.
• Prepare and make presentations to Air District staff, Committees and Board of Directors, as well as members of the public, other stakeholders and community organizations.
• Lead and support efforts to achieve local, regional, state and federal air quality planning objectives through land use and transportation planning, policy research and development, and technical analyses and reports.
• Respond to inquiries from governmental officials, consultants, and the public related to CEQA, air quality, and other environmental planning issues.
• Coordinate the review of environmental impact assessments prepared by other agencies pursuant to CEQA and assist other Divisions in the preparation of Air District Lead Agency CEQA documents.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

The City of Patterson is seeking to fill one (1) part-time vacancy for a Facility Attendant in the Recreation Department and to establish an eligibility list.

Duties include, but are not limited to: under direct supervision, performs a variety of facility related tasks to ensure effective operations at the Recreation and Community Services Complex and related facilities and parks. Prepares facilities for use; works with users during events; provides set-up and arrangements for classes, meetings, and public and private events; registers participants for recreational programs; assists with cleaning and maintaining of Community Services' facilities including removing and disposing of trash, sweeping, and mopping of floors.  Provides staff support for recreation events and programs. 

This is a part-time position with hours up to 19 hours per week.  Must be available to work nights and weekends with varying shifts and schedules.

StopWaste is hiring an Energy Council Program Services Specialist to work on Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN) programs. The position will conduct community outreach and engage with stakeholders to make energy upgrades and electrify multifamily and single family buildings in Alameda County and the larger Bay Area. It will also work on growing and strengthening the clean energy workforce to help achieve energy and climate goals. The ideal candidate will have deep experience engaging and developing relationships with community partners. The City of San Rafael Library and Recreation Department is now accepting applications for the position of Facilities Attendant (two part-time/temporary positions available).  This position provides customer service to renters and program participants while assisting with the supervision of front counter/reception area, set up and breakdown equipment for scheduled activities, custodial and cleaning including but not limited to emptying trash, vacuuming, cleaning windows, cleaning restrooms, etc.; opening and securing facility before and after building use and interacting with instructors, clients, and the general public.  Bilingual in Spanish is desired. 

Qualifications:

• Ability to use a variety of cleaning equipment and materials.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English.
