The City of Half Moon Bay is recruiting for a Director of Community Development who will be responsible for managing the City's activities associated with planning, building, code enforcement, inspection, public works maintenance, administration and operational direction to the Community Development Department, the Director is responsible for ensuring a seamless permitting process.  The Director advises the City Manager and/or Assistant City Manager on matters pertaining to the departmental functions.  

The incumbent will have a broad knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations applicable to community development operations.  A proven ability to establish credibility and gain trust of diverse stakeholders, including elected officials, staff, and community members.  The ideal candidate is a working manager who enjoys training, mentoring, and engaging with staff and the community.

The mission of the City of San José 's Park Ranger Program is to provide a safe, enjoyable park experience by protecting and educating the public, providing recreational opportunities, and by protecting, preserving, and enhancing the natural and cultural resources of the City's parks, trails, and open spaces.

Over the course of the program's 50+ year history, San José Park Rangers have worked to ensure a safe and enjoyable atmosphere in city parks. Park Rangers assist park users, provide information on appropriate park use, and educate visitors on park rules and procedures. As public safety officers, Park Rangers also render emergency medical care, conduct search and rescue operations, and perform wildland fire prevention patrols as well as provide initial wildland fire suppression. As stewards of the City's natural and cultural resources, Park Rangers work to protect and monitor park lands, restore native vegetation, maintain rustic hiking trails, and educate the public on the cultural and natural history of San José. Park Rangers also maintain safety and security in our neighborhood parks and along trails.

Supervising Park Ranger Position & Duties:

Supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.

• Evaluates training needs and workload balance for staff and prepares plans for implementation.
• Supervises staff engaged in park, trail, and facilities patrol, protection, or enforcement, and performs enforcement of park rules and regulations.
• Supervises and prepares and provides responses to park visitor complaints.
• Prepares and reviews written reports such as police, fire, injury, activity, vandalism, and visitor data reports; may make court appearances.
• Assumes responsibility for safety of subordinate personnel and park visitors.
• Operates light vehicles, radios, and other equipment necessary to perform Rangers activities.
• Supervises and performs the preparation and presentation of interpretive and educational programs related to park services to civic groups and park visitors.
• Recommends improvements and inspects conservation and resource management projects to maintain and restore the natural and cultural resources in City parks and undeveloped City park lands.
• Monitors weather and fire condition reports; may recommend restricting park use.

Additional duties may include:

• Performs and directs search, rescue, fire suppression, and other emergency activities; may coordinate activities with other public safety agencies.
• Completes equipment and supply requisitions.
• Provides budget input on needed personnel, equipment, supplies, and related items.
• Performs enforcement duties such as park patrol and writing misdemeanor citations; may make arrests of persons in violation of Federal, State, or Municipal rules and regulations.
• Supervises and provides cash handling services in the routine collection and/or fees from customers; performs revenue accountability and is responsible for petty cash receipts.

The City of Berkeley invites applications for the position of Housing Inspector II (Certified)! In this role, you will perform skilled inspection work with City residential housing inspection programs. You will independently perform the full scope of work in the investigation, reporting and follow-up of housing deficiencies to gain compliance with housing, building, zoning, fire, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and related codes and regulations.

Assignments are varied and generally require close interaction with the public, providing information and interpretation of applicable ordinances, codes and regulations. We'll expect you to exercise considerable independence and discretion in conducting inspections, resolving complaints and enforcing inspection results.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:

Equivalent to graduation from high school and at least two years of full-time experience equivalent to Housing Inspector or Building Inspector or Code Enforcement Inspector for a public agency. 

Must possess:

• An International Code Council (ICC) OR California (CA) certification in Residential Building or Housing Inspection or in Code Enforcement; and
• ICC or CA Residential or Commercial Electrical Inspector certification and ICC or CA Residential or Commercial Plumbing Inspector certification, or equivalent ICC or CA Legacy Certification for either Combination Inspector or Combination Dwelling Inspector.

Other requirements: Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, incumbent is required to maintain a valid California driver's license as well as a satisfactory driving record.

In addition to the qualifications above, the ideal candidate will have effective and courteous communication skills in order to discuss housing violations, violation remedy and necessary inspections and fees and participate in depositions and court hearings as requested. The City of Thousand Oaks has an exciting opportunity for a Code Compliance Supervisor in the Community Development Department! We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented individual to supervise and lead staff in the enforcement of municipal code compliance, investigation techniques and practices, and interpretation of regulations.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Public Health Nurse Intern/Public Health Nurse in the Health and Human Services Department. This position provides the full range of public health nursing services including teaching, health assessment, and counseling services in homes, clinics, schools and community centers in connection with the prevention and control of diseases and adverse health conditions. Upon satisfactory completion of the PHN Certification, the PHN Intern are eligible for promotion to the level of PHN. Public Health Nurse: is the entry level in this class series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform a variety of public health nursing duties in assigned program areas. The Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS) team of the Human Services Agency (HSA) of San Mateo County is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Rehabilitation Production Supervisor I/II. This current vacancy is a permanent position assigned in Catering Connection and/or the WorkCenter program. The position is a shared assignment and will be scheduled weekly to work in Catering Connection and/or the WorkCenter. The schedule of this position will vary and include weekends depending on the needs of the departments.
 
Under supervision, Rehabilitation Production Supervisor I/II will perform a variety of support activities and supervise the operation of Vocational Rehabilitation Services’ Catering Connection, and WorkCenter. In addition, this position is responsible for: Instructing, training and supervising the work of support staff and individuals with emotional and physical disabilities or others with barriers to employment by observing, evaluating and reporting on progress, attendance and employment potential of clients and preparing written evaluations.

Join the City of Berkeley's Planning and Development Department in its effort to protect the health, safety, and welfare of citizens by enforcing building codes and regulations. As a Certified Building Inspector I or II, you will perform skilled inspection work in the enforcement of building, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, zoning and related codes and regulations that govern new building and housing construction, additions, alterations, repairs and use of existing buildings. This work includes resolving problems and complaints to final resolution.

These classifications differ in that the Building Inspector I works under closer supervision and performs less complex inspection work than the Building Inspector II.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities is:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and experience as specified below.

• Building Inspector I:
  • One year of full-time experience as a building inspector with a public agency, OR
  • Four years of full-time experience as a journey level carpenter, electrician, plumber, building plans examiner, public works inspector or permit specialist, OR
  • Three years of full-time experience in the building construction field as a licensed general, plumbing, electrical or mechanical contractor, OR
  • Completion of a two year AA program or equivalent in construction technology or a related field and a minimum of four ICC certificates including building, plumbing, mechanical and electrical.
• Building Inspector II:
  • Three years of full time experience in building inspection work with a public agency.

Other requirements include possession of a valid International Code Council (ICC) Commercial and Residential Building Inspector Certificate or equivalent. In addition, Building Inspector II requires possession of a valid ICC Commercial and Residential Electrical Inspector Certification or equivalent. Equivalency shall be determined by the building official in accordance with state law. Required certifications must be maintained as a condition of employment.

Incumbents in both positions must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, maintenance of a valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record is required.
