About Happy Hollow Park & Zoo (HHPZ): This is a 16-acre amusement park and Association of Zoo's & Aquariums (AZA) accredited zoo located in San José, California. HHPZ is open year-round catering to families with children. It operates nine amusement park rides, showcases various endangered species, and operates one of the oldest classical puppet theaters in California, as well as offering many other playgrounds and attractions emphasizing play and imagination in a natural conservation setting.

About Zookeeper Full Time/Part Time: The position performs work involving the care and feeding of zoo, domestic farm, and/or non-domestic animals and maintenance of enclosures, grounds and service areas; working with animals under all types of climatic conditions to prepare them for presentations, training, capture and restraint, basic husbandry, and behavioral enrichment. In addition, responding to general questions from the public regarding non-domestic and/or domestic animals.

Please note that schedules can vary every week or be on an "on call" basis depending on knowledge, training, and experience with specific animal routines. These positions will be required to work weekends, evenings, and holidays, during all climactic conditions as assigned and must have the ability to enter animal areas and perform physical work (including lifting objects up to 50 lbs.).

This department is seeking to fill one (1) full-time Power Resources Specialist I/II position to support the Power Resources Division.

The Power Resources Specialist I/II position reports to a Principal Power Resources Specialist in the Power Resources Division. This position is part of an exciting, fast-paced team responsible for procuring hundreds of megawatts of renewable energy projects.

The selected candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:

• Supports the preparation, issuing, and evaluation of solicitations related to Energy, Resource Adequacy and Renewable Energy Credits.
• Assists with the evaluation of pre- and post-release solicitation materials for long-term energy projects such as stand-alone and collocated energy storage, wind, and solar resources.
• Assists in the management, analyzing, and enforcing of power contracts, including long-term energy contracts through development, construction, and operation.
• Assists in the management and resolution of matters related to resources performance within the California Independent System Operator's energy and capacity markets.
• Supports SJCE Scheduling Agent, particularly focusing on stand-alone and collocated storage and renewables, based on SJCE's internal strategies and policies.

• Supports and undertakes projects related to power, procurement, and validation; assists in the approval of energy purchases or sales of surplus energy.

The City of San José - San José Mineta International Airport is currently recruiting for Senior Airport Operations Specialist for the Airport Operations Division. This position performs work under the immediate supervision of an Airport Operations Supervisor and the Manager-on-Duty to support the variety of airport operations duties related to compliance, enforcement and customer service essential to the 24-hour operation of a medium-hub international airport. Typical duties and responsibilities include the following:

Airside Operations:

• Respond to emergencies, distressed or disabled aircraft, hazardous materials spills, wildlife or other airfield accidents or incidents

• May perform airfield inspections and other operations duties in support of airside.

• Coordinates cleanup efforts, prepares detailed informational and operational reports related to safety/security incidents, injuries and accidents.

• Use vehicle to patrol the airfield to inspect and observe aircraft, tenants, perimeter fences, gates to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and act to correct deficiencies.

Terminal Management / Customer Service:

• Coordinate common use resources (gates, remote parking, ticket counters, bag belts) to maintain safe, efficient day to day operations.

• Assist in documenting and resolving disruptions to operations such as bag jams, passenger queue control and irregular airline operations.

• Regular inspections of the terminal facility to ensure a clean, reputable terminal facility is available to the traveling public.

Landside Services:

• Observes, records, and enforces activities conducted on the Landside (terminal curbs, roadways, traffic control, public & employee parking facilities, and Ground Transportation areas).

• Responds to emergencies, vehicle accidents, or other Landside incidents to maintain a safe and efficient operation. Includes on-site inspection of the area, and performing or coordinating activities as required.

Security Compliance:

• Perform surveillance, inspection and investigations for enforcement of the Airport Security Program, investigates security breaches and violations.

• Use of a vehicle to patrol the airport to inspect tenants, perimeter fences, employees, and contractors to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and take action to correct deficiencies.

• Enforces proper procedures for Airport's Access Control System to prevent unauthorized and/or unescorted access to the Air Operations Area (AOA)

Airport Operations Center:

• Monitors the Airport's CCTV, Access Control, Fire Monitoring System, Building Management and Baggage Handling Systems. Coordinates appropriate responses.

• Monitors and utilizes all Airport and public safety radio frequencies.

• Performs passenger paging and other customer service functions throughout the facilities.

• Coordinates internal Airport/Tenant communications via radio, telephone etc.

In addition, the Senior Airport Operations Specialist will be required to multi-task and utilize various computer programs within each section of Airport Operations including Access Control System, Resource and Gate Management systems, Internet Protocol Television (IPTV). The Senior Airport Operations Specialists will also be expected to manage multiple phone lines and radio channels to coordinate airport activities within the AOC and perform a variety of general clerical duties such as: filing, preparation of records, forms, and other pertinent documents.

Other duties the Senior Airport Operations Specialist may be assigned include but are not limited to; compiles data, prepares reports, completes necessary and required forms and oversees recordkeeping to provide top-notch customer service to business stakeholders and the traveling public. The Maintenance Worker I will support the basic preventative maintenance of the air conditioning work group. This position reports directly to the Air Conditioning Supervisor for various daily assignments. Working under immediate supervision and working with HVAC Staff and/or independently in mechanical rooms and on rooftops would be a regular occurrence.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

• Performs preventive maintenance functions on Exhaust Fans, HVAC Package units and Air Handlers.
• Clean HVAC Cooling Towers and Mechanical Rooms.
• Install V-belts on HVAC Equipment.
• Uses general carpentry, mechanical and hand tools such as power saws, hand saws, drills, pliers, wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, ladders and other tools and equipment.
• Installs air filters in various types of air conditioning equipment.

The Department of Public Works is currently seeking to fill multiple full-time Engineer I/II vacancies of different disciplines that may be assigned to work in the various divisions of the department including Transportation and Hydraulic Services (THS) or Development Services (DS).

Transportation and Hydraulic Services Division The Transportation and Hydraulics Services Division is responsible for the design, construction, and master plan of bridges, culverts, streets, sidewalks, storm and sanitary sewers, pump stations, streetlights, landscape and hardscape improvements, traffic signals, and supports construction and engineering, upgrade and revitalization of the San Jose-Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility. Airport Capital Improvements Program

The Airport Division Capital Improvements team is responsible for the project management and delivery of capital projects related to San Jose Mineta International Airport.

City Facilities Architectural Services Division CFAS Division has the primary responsibility for the delivery of capital improvements projects on City properties and provides design and construction services for public buildings, landscape improvements, and capital maintenance projects, including recreational facilities, parks, trails, libraries, public safety facilities, and various cultural facilities.

Engineering Services Division

The Engineering Services Division is comprised of four sections: Construction Management Services, Structural Engineering and Code Inspection, Material Testing Laboratory, and Survey. This division provides technical support services to City Capital Improvement Programs and Projects, development/utility permit projects, and other citywide customers.

POSITION

Supervise, plan and coordinate the functions of the Laboratory, Industrial Wastewater Pretreatment Program (WPP), and related environmental compliance programs.  Performs and reviews analysis of potable water, wastewater, stormwater and related materials. Ensures sampling, monitoring, testing, reporting, WPP, and other environmental compliance programs comply with Federal, State and local requirements for potable water, wastewater and stormwater utilities.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy in the Public Works Department, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Ideal Candidate for the Laboratory Supervisor position will have experience working in a wastewater or water laboratory, with knowledge of State, Federal and Local regulation and rules. This person will be familiar with water, wastewater, storm water, industrial pretreatment and related programs, and have a laboratory background in chemistry and microbiology as it applies to water, wastewater, stormwater, industrial pretreatment compliance programs.  In addition to meeting the minimum requirements of the position, the Ideal Candidate will be an independent thinker who is well organized, has excellent communication skills (written and oral), and good time management skills.  Previous supervisory experience is very desirable as this position will be responsible for supervising, mentoring and counseling division staff and programs as necessary.

Plan, program and supervise monitoring, sampling, and testing to ensure WPCF processes, potable water production, potable water distribution, and stormwater runoff comply with State and Federal standards. Supervise and coordinate laboratory quality assurance and quality control programs; develop new methods of laboratory analysis consistent with Federal and State guidelines. Work with and direct outside labs or environmental firms on water quality matters. Plan, program and supervise the goals and objectives of the Industrial Wastewater Pretreatment program. Coordinate pretreatment program activities for the Sanitary Sewer Management Plan and Stormwater NPDES Phase II permit. Review and approve quarterly and annual pretreatment reports. Interpret and enforce regulations related to pretreatment, wastewater collection and stormwater collection. Prepare detailed draft budgets, assist in preparation of final budgets and administer adopted budgets. Monitor legislation and make recommendations concerning compliance issues related to potable water, wastewater, stormwater, pretreatment and related programs. Compile, sign and submit monitoring and compliance reports to appropriate State and Federal Agencies. Perform advanced analysis on data to provide information for decision making. Represent the City on routine basis with State and Federal agencies, and other public bodies. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Assist with studies to audit and improve plant operations; conduct and assist with tours and regulatory inspection; respond to questions and requests from the general public. Ensure laboratory and pretreatment shop are maintained in a safe, clean and orderly condition. Ensure that maintenance, repair and calibration of laboratory and pretreatment equipment complies with process safety manual and manufacture recommendations. Observe safe work methods, practices and precautions; use appropriate safety devices and equipment in accordance with laboratory and pretreatment standard operating procedures. Plan safety and training programs and ensure that safety precautions and regulations are adhered to by subordinates. Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor of Science degree with major course work in chemistry and biology or a closely related field.

Experience:  Two (2) years of experience conducting chemical or biological laboratory analyses including two (2) years of experience performing laboratory analysis of water, wastewater or stormwater. Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in pretreatment and environmental compliance desirable.

License and Certificate:  Required upon hire, possession of a valid California Driver's License.  Possession of a current California Water Environment Association Grade II.  Laboratory Analyst certificate within 18 months of appointment.  Possession of a current California Water Environment Association Grade I Environmental Compliance Inspector certificate is desirable.

The salary range for this classification is $47,982.48 - $58,422.00 annually.

This position is covered under the Pay Floor Policy and hourly rates will be adjusted to a minimum of $26.66 hourly for benefitted positions. The Pay Floor rate consists of a base amount and an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay. Community Services Division: Safe + Clean + Engaged Neighborhoods

Empower and support residents, schools, and local organizations to make the City more livable, safe, and clean.

Project Hope is a neighborhood engagement and empowerment initiative focused on nine neighborhoods in San Jose. Organized into operational teams, Project Hope staff are assigned to specific neighborhoods, where they assist residents to address the conditions and circumstances that exist due to systemic racism such as crime/violence, blight, lack of trust, marginalization, and inadequate services. Project Hope supports residents to create new neighborhood associations or reinvigorate existing ones, develop the organizational and capacity building skills to better utilize and reach key City, and other public/private resources to address ongoing quality-of-life issues.

Community Activity Workers in Project Hope build strong relationships with residents, partners and community; assist neighborhood associations/board members with planning for meetings and events; inform residents of City services; assist neighborhood associations in building strong relationships with City of San José departments and other local government agencies, and; provide in-service trainings and workshops for community leaders to ensure self-sustainability of the neighborhood associations. ?Applicants should enjoy spending time in the community directly engaging with residents (e.g. canvassing, door-to-door outreach & surveying), planning and attending community events, bringing people together for positive results, and teaching residents how to engage with City and other public/private partners to address neighborhood/community issues.

Job duties for Community Activity Workers in Project Hope include, but are not limited to:

• Providing support to Community Coordinator in resident engagement efforts of three Project Hope sites
• Working some weekend and/or evening schedules per the program schedule
• Developing and presenting written materials and making public presentations to inform people about programs and encourage participation.
• Providing assistance to board members to increase the capacity of neighborhood associations achieving self-sustainability.
• Participating in planning and coordinating in-service training and development of program aids and materials.
• Performing public contact and liaison work in explaining and interpreting the Project Hope program.
• Preparing and monitoring budget and timesheets for the program and in support of neighborhood associations.
• Preparing monthly reports and correspondence and assisting community groups in grant writing.
• Coordinating with governmental agencies, local businesses, community-based organizations, County partners and City departments.
• Surveying targeted neighborhoods needs via methods including telephone, surveys, knock-and-talks or door-to-door canvassing.
• Providing information to residents on accessing City services or other service providers.
• Assisting in planning and implementing special activities or programs, such as community service or community empowerment projects, community meetings, community/graffiti clean-ups, tree-planting, tutoring, or sports activities for and with neighborhood associations.
• Rendering first aid in case of injury; watching for the safety of participants and spectators.
• Designing and producing flyers and announcements.
• May be required to provide bilingual translation, both orally and in writing.
