The City of Belmont Police Department is looking for individuals interested in supporting the City's public safety initiatives as a Reserve Police Officer. 

Reserve peace officers are required by Commission Regulations 1950-1955 to meet the same selection standards (e.g. personal history investigation and medical and psychological screening) as full-time regular officers. Commission Regulation 1007(a) outlines the minimum training requirements for reserve peace officers.

San Mateo Medical Center is seeking an experienced Surgery Scheduling Specialist for a Full-Time, Extra-help position for the Surgery Department. The Surgery Scheduling Specialist provides technical, complex and specialized administrative support to surgeons and patients scheduled for surgery, which includes interaction with operating room staff and patients; handles multiple competing priorities; interacts with diverse customer groups; handles multiple patient-related tasks such as tracking patient financials to ensure information is correctly entered; and moves patients from the clinic to the operating room, including all pre-operative processes necessary for the patients prior to surgery, pre-op process sheets and clinic schedules, data entry of items into the operative database, financial reconciliation, and post-op order sets, and may have some responsibilities for ordering supplies or equipment.
 
The ideal candidate for this position will possess excellent communications skills, including the ability to communicate complex medical terminology to a variety of people with varying levels of medical knowledge. In addition, they would possess skills in conflict resolution, and problem solving. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work with challenging patients, and patients who may have a language or communication barrier. This position will require attention to detail, and therefore the ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
 
NOTE: The ability to speak, read and write in fluent English and Spanish is preferred for this position.
 
 Duties for this position may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Tracking patient financials to be sure they are correctly entered.
• Scheduling patients in the procedure clinic.  
• Updating the pre-op process sheet and clinic schedule in the computer.
• Entering data into the operative database.
• Interfacing between the Operating Room and Surgeon.
• Ability to schedule patients using the OR manager program.

Currently, there is one full-time, limited-term vacancy and two Extra-Help, part-time, vacancies. These positions will plan and provide occupational therapy services for acutely ill or rehabilitative patients in an outpatient and/or inpatient setting.
Occupational Therapist II is the experienced journey level class in this series. Incumbents in this class perform the full range of general therapy treatments with a greater degree of independence and proficiency, additionally applying more specialized and advanced therapy treatments. Some individuals may also assist in providing technical advice and training to less experienced staff.
The ideal candidate has graduated from an accredited occupational therapy curriculum and is licensed as an Occupational Therapist by the California Board of Occupational Therapy and registered with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. These positions would provide outpatient and/or inpatient services physical therapy evaluations and treatments for a variety of orthopedic and neurologic conditions.

Physical Therapists manage patients with a wide range of diagnoses, chronic and acute, and are part of a dynamic treatment team. In addition, Physical Therapists identify patient challenges and develop goals and a care plan with reasonable outcomes for the individual's life/work settings. Daily opportunities are created in this assignment through the variety of illnesses/injuries seen in our patient population.

Physical Therapists work at SMMC as part of a County rehabilitation program, which provides evaluation, education and treatment. The therapeutic program at SMMC is oriented toward inpatients and outpatients with acute and chronic problems while providing therapy to inpatients with a need for long or short-term rehabilitation.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of one year of work experience providing care in an outpatient setting with an interest in covering inpatient when the census justifies. The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for Extra Help-Cook within the Yuba County Jail. Under close supervision, prepares and provides institutional meals following federal and state nutritional guidelines, and performs other duties as assigned.  Yuba County staffs the Cook classification at the County Jail division in the Sheriff’s department  This position performs a full range of tasks associated with the preparation and distribution of meals to juvenile detainees and adult inmates.  The incumbent ensures that properly prepared nutritional meals are produced in a large volume, institutional setting.  Responsibilities also include overseeing detainees and/or inmates and institution workers assisting with food preparation. 

For successful performance, the incumbent would be required to have knowledge of principles, methods and equipment used in high volume meal preparation in an institutional setting; basic food groups and nutritional values; safe work practices related to food preparation, storage and service; basic business arithmetic; and basic inventory and record keeping principles and practices. Skill in overseeing and preparing meals in a large scale, institutional setting; overseeing and training others in basic cooking and work procedures; operating, cleaning and performing minor maintenance to large institutional food preparation and cooking equipment; maintaining accurate records and preparing work related reports; directing others in work procedures; and reading, understanding and following recipes and oral and written directions. Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE  

• Currently employed as a Full Time or Part Time Peace Officer with a California Law Enforcement Agency; or

• Currently working as a Level I Reserve Police Officer with a California Law Enforcement Agency; or

• Retired as a Full Time Peace Officer with a California Law Enforcement Agency; or two years experience as a Peace Officer with a California Law Enforcement Agency and possession of a valid Basic Certificate issued by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.  

LICENSES &/OR CERTIFICATES

• Possession of a valid driver's license is required; 

• Proof of a current Basic or higher certificate issued by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) is required at the time of application and for the duration of employment  (Not required for Reserve Police Officers, see below);

• Must have passed Field Training Program with home agency as required by POST;

• Must have passed Probationary Period with home agency;

• The minimum Peace Officer selection standards are set forth in Government Code (GC) Sections 1029, 1031, and 1031.4.  Every California Peace Officer must be: Free from any disqualifications for employment, including felony convictions (GC 1029). Be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law (GC 1031);

• and at least 21 yrs of age for specified peace officers (GC 1031.4).

• Must maintain current CPR and First Aid Certification.

Reserve Police Officers Must Also Provide: Proof of completion of Level 1 Reserve Peace Officer POST Regular Basic Course (Reserve Police Officers Only).

 

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Must be at least 20 years of age at time of application filing and 21 years of age at time of job appointment;

• Must meet and maintain required peace officer employment standards as required by POST;

• Per the California Public Employee Retirement System (CalPERS) "Public Safety Retirees on service retirement may not work more than 960 hours in a fiscal year for all CalPERS employers:;

• Retirees who were medically retired (industrial or non-industrial) should confirm with their retirement plan that accepting employment as a Per Diem Police Officer will not jeopardize their pension;

• Must possess the strength and physical ability necessary to perform the essential functions of the position;

• Must possess hearing, speech, and mental capabilities sufficient to perform all of the essential functions of the position; and

• Must be willing to be fingerprinted and pass a departmental interview, psychological, medical, and background investigation prior to appointment.

 

Vision requirements:  

• Must possess vision including color, night, depth, and peripheral vision sufficient to perform all of the essential functions of the position; and

• Must possess visual acuity of not less than 20/80 vision in each eye uncorrected, and corrected to 20/30 in each eye.

 

EXCEPTION:  Applicants with correction afforded by soft contact lenses are exempt from the minimum uncorrected vision standard of 20/80, provided their corrected vision is 20/30 in each eye.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Environment: 

The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions; extreme cold, extreme heat, potentially hostile environments; extensive public contact. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be very loud due to crowd noise, music, sirens, firearm training, etc. Incumbents are required to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends, and may be required to travel to attend meetings or court appearances.

The City of Newark is currently accepting applications for Police Officer Trainees - Entry Level and Academy Attendees. 

THE POSITION:

The Police Officer Trainee position is an entry level position, requiring no prior law enforcement experience. Applicants are required to possess a valid California Driver’s License, be legally authorized to work in the U.S and be at least 21 years old at time of swear-in. All applicants must possess a strong moral character, as well as good work ethic and maturity. All candidates will be required to undergo comprehensive testing processes to determine their physical and mental suitability for a career in Law Enforcement.

The Police Officer Trainee is a temporary employee.  The trainee attends a P.O.S.T. certified academy.  Upon successful completion of the academy, the trainee will be eligible for appointment to the position of Police Officer.  New Police Officers will receive benefits available to regular employees and will serve an 18-month probationary period.

The Newark Police Department is a modern, progressive law enforcement agency with 59 sworn and 27 professional staff employees. Well qualified officers enjoy specialty assignments and promotions based upon training and experience. State of the art safety equipment, including, individually issued patrol rifles with sighting systems, Ballistic Helmets, Smart Phones and an Armored Rescue Vehicle.
