THE POSITION / JOB DUTIES
The Police Public Service Assistant (PSA) III is assigned to the Police Department’s Animal Services Unit and provides daily support with the customer service and animal shelter operations. Examples of job duties include:
· Assist with animal behavioral assessments.
· Assist potential adopters through the adoption process by completing forms and accurately entering adoption information into the database.
· Process animal intakes while explaining the process to the customer and assisting with paperwork and entering data.
· Process cash handling activities with regards to adoptions, intakes, outcomes, and pet licensing.
· Assist with caring for the animals by providing food, water, basic grooming, and enrichment activities to minimize shelter environment stress.
· Preparing and administering vaccinations to animals entering the facility.
· Assist with behavior assessments for the placement of animals.
· Data entry and clerical support.
· Perform related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Professional experience working with animals is preferred.
Special Requirements: Must be 18 years of age. The selected candidate must be willing to work a variety of shifts, including days, afternoons, weekends, and holidays. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
COMPENSATION
Hourly Rate: $16.67 - $20.26. Placement within the range will be made depending upon the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. This is a part-time/long-term temporary assignment and may work up to 20 hours per week.
