Come lead the Homework Center at the San Bruno Library! 

The City of San Bruno Public Library is currently recruiting for a part-time, temporary Library Assistant—Homework Center Supervisor. Candidates must be able to commit from September 2024 to June 2025, for 17 hours per week and availability Monday 2-6PM, Tuesday 2-6PM, Wednesday 1-6PM and Thursday 2-6PM (with the exception of Library and San Bruno Park School District holidays). Under the direction of the Library Services Manager, the Library Assistant—Homework Center Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the Library's after-school Homework Center, including classroom management, homework help, supervising and training volunteers, collaborating with library staff, and maintaining accurate records of homework center attendance. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining a welcoming place for students to do their homework effectively within the larger context of the library, and for planning weekly activities and training/supervising students in the use of the 3-D printer. The homework center is a free, drop-in, after-school program for children in kindergarten through eighth grade.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 
• Some college coursework

* This is a part-time/temporary/seasonal position with the City of San Bruno. As such, employees agree to serve in an at-will capacity and understand that service with the City may be terminated at any time. This position works a maximum of 17 hours per week and does not provide any benefits, except for paid sick leave. In accordance with the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014, all temporary, part-time, and seasonal employees, who on or after July 1, 2015, work in California for 30 or more days within a year from the commencement of employment are entitled to paid sick leave for prescribed purposes. Employees will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked and are entitled to use accrued sick days beginning on the 90th day of employment. The Paid Call Firefighter (PCF) Entry Level position is the first position in the classification of Paid Call Firefighter. This position is supervised by the Training Battalion Chief, PCF Program Manager or direct supervisor. The Entry Level PCF must successfully complete a 12-month probationary period and acquire the basic knowledge, skills and abilities required for successful performance as a PCF.  During the probationary period, the PCF will attend a Fire Academy provided by the District. Before the end of the 12-month probationary period, the PCF must be a certified Emergency Medical Technician.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must live within Santa Cruz County.
• Be at least 18 years of age by August 31, 2024.
• Possess a valid California Class C Driver's License and pass an "insurability" check by the District's insurance carrier.
• Copy of current Driving Record issued by CA DMV- available online.

A Dance Instructor (Program Specialist) will plan, prepare and instruct recreation activities. Activities may include art, cooking, dance, pre-school program and other program areas. Programs are designed for children ages 4-17 (primarily 5-12) years of age.

Dance programs may include ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, ballroom, folkloric, salsa, and rhythmic international styles.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age
• Different program areas will have different skills and knowledge requirements for the position; check with Recreation Supervisor. (For example: 6 ECE unites required for pre-school instructor)
• One school year teaching experience
• At least one year's experience working with children in an academic setting
• Must be willing and able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as required

REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT

Job responsibilities include, prepares scaled and dimensioned plans based on sketches prepared by engineering personnel, maintains records of as-builts and updates existing Utility maps and records utilizing ESRI-based GIS applications, Maintains master map files, including such records of block maps, sewer and water infrastructure maps, and other maps, Performs computing and drafting operations in AutoCAD, involved in checking drawings of utility facilities, perform other duties as assigned.

As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.
