This position is in the Youth & Family Services Division supporting early learning programs, family engagement, and outreach in the community. The role is based out of the Library Administration Office and spends more than 50% of the time out in the community, covering locations including Pescadero, Brisbane, East Palo Alto, and Millbrae. Spanish skills are strongly preferred.

The eligible list generated by this recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies throughout San Mateo County Libraries. Because of the diversity of the communities we serve, bilingual language skills (Mandarin, Cantonese, or Spanish) are strongly preferred.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to:

• Effectively work with a diverse group of stakeholders to improve learning outcomes for families and children throughout the County--to include educators, nonprofits, administrators, family coalitions, parent groups, and more.
• Provide significant support to our Inspiring Summers program including working with families, interns, and school partners.
• Apply expertise and experience in early literacy best practices and innovations, science of reading approaches, and authentic, culturally relevant family engagement methods to benefit our communities.
• Support our preschool partnership initiatives across San Mateo County including outreach, supply management, cultivating partnerships, and collaborating with other library staff.
• Advance San Mateo County Libraries other evidence based high priority initiatives for youth and families in historically underserved communities.
• Plan, schedule, coordinate, promote, and carry out creative and fresh outreach and programming, including school visits, special events, classes/workshops, story times, public speaking, etc.
• Use data to visualize, plan and deliver, assess, provide training on, and improve innovative library services that support our system priorities and have measurable results.
• Inspire kids and families from all backgrounds, strengthening our communities as a whole.
• Model exemplary and engaging customer care in all interactions--including in person, at programs, and at outreach events.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment and contribute to system-wide projects, task forces and committees.
• Establish and strengthen cooperative working relationships with community members, various community services providers, and library staff.
• Skillfully use and troubleshoot emerging technology as a tool to enhance effectiveness, innovation, and efficiency.
• Collaborate and team up with others to share strengths across the organization.
• Have some understanding of theories of infant, child, and adolescent, and adult learning, literacy and brain development, and their implications for public library service.
• Possess a growth mindset and be courageous in trying new strategies, taking risks, and continuously learning.

SALARY:

Librarian I: $37.28 - $46.62 Hourly

Librarian II: $40.67 - $50.81 Hourly

Qualifications

Education: Master of Library Science or recognized equivalent degree, from an American Library Association accredited college or university is required.

Experience: Any combination of experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify for a Librarian II is two years librarian experience.

Under the general direction of the Fire Chief, the Fire Captain is the working supervisor of the department. The Fire Captain is responsible for performing and supervising company activities, including emergency response and safety, command and control, supervision, management, delegation and prioritization, documentation and communication, station apparatus and equipment maintenance, training, fire prevention, vegetation management and other life safety inspections, public education, public awareness, and other related work, tasks, and assignments as required.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Graduate or equivalent
• United States citizen or legal right to remain in the United States 
• San Luis Obispo County paramedic certificate/accreditation is preferred
• Current Health Care Provider CPR or equivalent
• Hazardous Materials First Responder Operational certified
• Valid California driver's license with either non-commercial Firefighter Endorsement or Class B commercial license, with driving and operating experience. (Applicants who do not possess the required DMV license or CPR certification may be admitted to the testing process but must possess the required license or certification prior to being appointed.)
• Must have begun the State Fire Officer’s Certification track
• Three years of firefighting experience with supervisory experience 

Some minimum requirements may be waived upon substantial demonstration and documentation of substitute fulfillment.

Desirable Licenses, Certificates & Qualifications 

• College graduate or holds a college degree, preferably in fire science or other comparable coursework
• Fire Officer certified
• Hazardous Materials Technician or Specialist
• Rope rescue, Rescue Systems 1 & 2, Water Rescue
• Any other EMS, Fire, Hazardous Materials, Rescue, Wildfire, or other appropriate certificates

Benefits

• $86,683 to $105,364 annually
• Non-exempt employees assigned to a 56-hour (average) workweek schedule will receive pay for overtime as defined in the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). All overtime shall be paid at a rate of one and one-half (1 ½) times the regular hourly rate of pay.
• All covered employees hired on or after December 28, 2012, who are not defined as “new members” under the Public Employees Pension Reform Act (“PEPRA”) will be covered by the 3% @ 55 retirement formula and the 36 highest consecutive months’ final compensation provision.  All covered employees hired on or after January 1, 2013, and who are defined as “new members” under PEPRA will be covered by the 2.7% at 57 retirement formula and the 36 highest consecutive months’ final compensation provision. 
• Regular employees, after completion of their probationary period, shall be eligible for the Health Care Reimbursement Program. Eligible employees receive a credit of $1300 each January 1.
• For all regular employees working full time, the District will pay 85% of the premiums currently in effect for employee and dependent coverage for the lowest cost plan available to District employees offered through the PERS system.
• For all regular employees working full-time, the District will pay 85% of the premiums for employee and dependent coverage for the lowest-cost dental plan.  In the event the employees elect a higher cost coverage, the employees shall pay the increased cost for that plan.
• A Group Life Insurance Plan will be provided with a $25,000 life insurance policy for each unit member, a $1,000 policy for each employee's spouse, and a $1,000 for each employee's dependent under the age of 21.  The CCSD will pay the full monthly premium for each unit member, spouse, and dependent children.
• Covered employees assigned to a 56-hour average workweek schedule shall accrue 4.31 hours of vacation leave biweekly (112 hrs/yr) from the date of hire to sixty (60) months of service.
• Each full-time employee, assigned to a 56-hour average workweek, shall accrue sick leave from the date of employment at the rate of 6.4 hours per 14-day payroll period (based on 120 hours per year times the conversion factor of 1.4).
• In lieu of time off on holidays, covered employees assigned to a 56-hour workweek shall accrue 5.92 hours of holiday leave per 14-day payroll period for a total of 154 hours per year (based on 110 hours per year times the conversion factor of 1.4). 
• The District shall provide covered employees with an annual boot or safety shoe allowance of $250, payable in July of each year.

The County of San Mateo Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) seeks a Board eligible or Board certified Adult Psychiatrist to join the North County Behavioral Health Center in Daly City, California, to work with adult BHRS clients with severe mental illness and substance use disorders. This is a full-time position.

Excellent Benefits Package 
The position offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package which includes County funded malpractice insurance, pension plans and health benefits for retirees, 5% match into deferred comp, reimbursement of professional dues and expenses (up to $3,000/year), an additional 5% increase in salary for each qualifying Board certification up to two (2) Boards, administrative leave time at 5 hours per pay period up to 260 hours (this is prorated for part time employees) that can be used as time off or cashed out up to 50%, three days of Winter Recess (24 total hours) leave time, and a wellness program, including exercise classes, worksite massage, and an onsite gym. BHRS positions include a hybrid model of remote work, which may continue in the future.

The North County Behavioral Health Center serves multiple large cultural populations. We are also specifically seeking bicultural candidates and/or candidates who demonstrate cultural literacy, sensitivity, and a strong desire to work with Filipino, Latino, and/or Asian populations.

 

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include but are not limited to the following: 

• Conduct psychiatric assessments and make diagnoses.
• Prescribe appropriate treatment plans and prescribe therapy, psychotherapy, rehabilitation programs, and medications as needed.
• Medication management, including Medication for Addiction Treatment (MAT) as needed.
• Coordinate the work of consulting medical specialists.
• Act as physician member of a multi-disciplinary team for clinical work or program development.
• Train and supervise medical students, interns and residents.
• Provide clinical supervision to licensed and professional staff.

• Conduct and direct individual and group psychotherapy.

Qualifications

Board Certification or completion of an accredited psychiatric residency program.

Licensure/Certification:
