PROGRAM LEADER (SPORTS AND FITNESS)

Salary Range: $17.37 to $23.15/hour, DOE

This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefitted position; 15-20 hours per week (not to exceed 950 hours per calendar year); predominantly afternoon/evening schedule, some weekends.

DEFINITION

The Town seeks gym monitors, scorekeepers, and leaders for a variety of youth and adult sports. Sports may include, but are not limited to basketball, softball, and bocce ball. Sports knowledge is preferred. All staff will be cross-trained for multiple sports. CPR/FA certification is recommended but not required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Program Leader receives supervision from the Program Coordinator and/or Program

Assistant.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Essential duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Scorekeeping and gym monitoring.
• Completing program score sheets, reports, and timesheets according to deadlines.
• Attending monthly staff meetings.
• Various tasks related to the implementation of sports programs.

THE POSITION
The City of Campbell Recreation and Community Services Department is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and experienced Swim Team Coach for Campbell Wave Swim Team, ages 6-18 years old, at the Campbell Community Center. This position reports to the Aquatics Recreation Specialist. 

Salary Range: $17.00 to $25.00 per hour DOQ

Part-Time, Temporary Non-Benefited position

Schedule: Actual work schedule to be determined through mutual agreement with supervisor. Employee may be required to work weekends.

Location: Campbell Community Center, 1 West Campbell Avenue, Campbell

Responsibilities: 

• Swim team coordination with Aquatics Recreation Specialist;  
• Prepares and implements work-outs;
• Tracks and encourages team enrollment;
• Maintains various records;
• Organizes and attends swim meets;
• Evaluates stroke technique;
• Assists with budget preparation;
• Has thorough knowledge of emergency response protocol, risk management and emergency care
• Complies and enforces all City of Campbell and Campbell Recreation and Community Services Department policies and procedures.

In addition, the essential functions of employment include:

• Assistance in developing, organizing and supervising daily operations and practices;
• Assistance in evaluating Campbell Wave swim team program;
• Documentation including daily participant attendance;
• Planning, execution and evaluation of swim meet participation;
• Professional interaction and effective communication with children, swimmers and the general public.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum age at time of hire is 18 years old.
• Two (2) or more years of swim coaching experience
• Valid California Driver’s license.
• Current CPR certification.
• Safety Training for Swim Coaches or Lifeguard Training certification.
• TB Clearance.
• Fingerprint clearance (Department of Justice background check). The City of Campbell will schedule fingerprint appointment and encumber cost upon hire.

Highly desirable, but not mandatory upon hiring: 

• Professional certification(s), including American Swim Coaches’ Association or USA

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael Library & Recreation Department, Child Care Division, is accepting applications for Child Care Instructor I to work in our School-Age Programs.  Under the supervision of the Child Care Director or Head Teacher, you will assist in the planning and implementation of daily activities for the school-age program. 

This position performs the following essential job duties:      

• Assist in planning and implementing age appropriate curriculum, activities, and events.
• Provide continuous supervision to children in day-to-day activities; ensures health and safety of children.
• Maintain childcare center, rooms and play areas in a clean, orderly and safe condition; sets up rooms and areas for various activities such as lunch, naps, games, etc.
• Monitor behavioral patterns and assists with assessment and child development profiles.
• Meet with parents as necessary or requested.
• Perform lead work responsibilities over Child Care Aides.

To be eligible for this position you must have knowledge of: 

• Stages and phases of Child Development.
• Appropriate disciplinary techniques.
• Age-appropriate group curriculum and activities.

• Prefer possession of a valid California Driver’s License

The Newark Recreation and Community Services Department seeks motivated, self-driven individuals passionate about working with the public. The Position:
This is complex clerical work involved in central District processes related to the procurement of goods and services, including selection of vendors, volume buying, implementation of bid procedures, scheduling and coordinating deliveries, inventory, assessing availability and quality of goods and services, administering under direction district-wide procurement related tools, such as procurement and gasoline cards, creation of purchase orders, creating and archiving documentation, and assisting the Senior Buyer as needed. Under general direction, the employee provides technical buyer information and facilitates purchasing of both goods and services to all District units. Public contact is extensive, primarily involving District and College staff at all levels and outside vendors for the purpose of exchanging product, procedural, timeline and workflow information. A moderate to high degree of independent judgment and creativity are required to select and apply appropriate policies and procedures to the resolution of frequent minor and occasional major problems that arise. Consequences of errors in judgment can be costly in terms of District resources, employee time, and in public relations; however, supervisory controls limit the risk of serious errors. This position can direct the work of other staff and student assistants as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Exchanges information with District and College staff, vendors, contractors, businesses and community organizations, as well as educational and government institutions regarding purchasing policies and procedures, assistance with vendor selections, pricing, shipping, returns, invoicing, bid timelines, and item specifications
• Serves as a liaison between the Colleges and District Office relative to purchasing procedures and policies
• Attends professional development related meetings, workshops, and other events to stay current on public procurement code and District policies and procedures. Occasional mandatory participation in select professional development conferences requiring travel outside the Bay Area. Willingness to pursue professional certifications in the procurement field
• Assists with presentations to College and District staff regarding purchasing policies, processes, and timelines and confers with supervisor and co-workers to improve customer service to the colleges
• Uses a variety of computer software to produce and archive documents created by the purchasing process and to perform administrative tasks, such as scheduling meetings and arranging meeting logistics

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree in marketing, business administration, or a closely related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Successful work experience of increasing responsibility that has included demonstrated skills in volume buying, specification development, securing and evaluation of bids, commodity pricing methods and discounts, and selection of various supply sources

POLICE OFFICER

Trainee - $6,546 per month

Police Officers can serve in patrol, traffic, investigations, and K-9 assignments. EDUCATION:

Entry Level Candidates - High school diploma and 60 units of college-level course work.

Academy Graduates (no sworn experience) - High school diploma and a minimum of 45 units of college-level course work, in addition to graduation from a P.O.S.T. basic academy.

Entry level and Academy Graduate candidates with an honorable discharge may be credited with up to 15 semester units for a minimum of 3 years of active duty in the U.S. Armed Services (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard).
