The City of Sunnyvale is seeking to fill the position of term-limited, full-time Sustainability Librarian in Adult Services with energetic and highly motivated individuals who possess excellent customer service, technical and interpersonal skills. 

The ideal candidate will have experience working closely with the public in a fast-paced full-service library environment and a strong interest in sustainability. Key responsibilities include creating new and innovative programs for the public, using state-of the-art technology to develop library content, and selecting interesting and relevant titles for the collection. Special projects may include expanding the Library's community engagement and outreach activities, particularly around the topic of sustainability.

The Sustainability Librarian works under the direction of the Supervising Librarian and other management staff in a team-oriented and forward-thinking environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

A Masters degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association accredited program.

Reporting to the Building Official, this specialized classification performs the full range of duties related to building inspection and code compliance activities required to ensure compliance with the City’s Municipal Code as well as the full range of routine to complex inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings; investigates citizen complaints of public nuisances and quality of life issues and seeks voluntary compliance or issues citations and initiates abatement procedures; performs inspections at various stages of construction, alteration, and repair of residential, commercial, and industrial building sites to enforce building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and environmental codes, and other governing laws and ordinances, including basic zoning, grading, fire, and safety regulations; reviews applications and conducts inspections on a wide range of business licenses and special events permits such as those for massage establishments, special events, and noise exemptions; and performs related work as required.

City offices operate on a 9/80 schedule: Monday-Thursday for 9 hours, 8-hours one Friday, off/closed the other Friday. This position is located at City Hall, 13777 Fruitvale Avenue; operational hours are 7:30 am-5:00 pm.

The salary range for Community Programs Administrator is: $113,327.76 - $138,072.48 Annually.

This salary range includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience.

This Community Programs Administrator (CPA) will be part of the Education and Learning Pathways Division of the Library Department and will be housed at the Seven Trees Branch Library.

This position will provide oversight of the Seven Trees Branch Library as well as coordinate with other City departments to provide wrap around services in the Santee neighborhood, a Children and Youth Services Master Plan (CYSMP) demonstration site. This position will function across the department to support early education, adult literacy, ESL, Citizenship, and other library services for families in the Seven Trees/Santee neighborhood. The CPA will analyze available data and work with City departments to identify service priorities, partnerships, and opportunities related to support for educational and employment attainment of community members in the Santee neighborhood.

This position will:

• Develop strategies to monitor and evaluate programs and services in alignment with adopted quality standards and ensure that all programs at Seven Trees are executed against those standards.
• Identify gaps in service and programs and develop a strategic plan to address issues.

The ideal candidate will:

• Have current knowledge of the CYSMP, collaboration models, data collection, and analysis methodology as well as the ability to lead development of enhanced service models.
• Be a self-starter who takes initiative yet seek approvals and keep leadership informed as appropriate

Qualifications

Education:

The Department

The Position

The City of San Pablo is actively recruiting for a Senior Building Inspector who under general direction, leads, oversees, and participates in the inspection of complex building systems at various stages of construction, alterations, and repair; to coordinate and schedule inspections; and to participate in the review of building plans and specifications. 

This is an advanced journey-level class in the Building Inspector series. Incumbent of this class perform the most complex building inspections work requiring the use of considerable independent judgement and initiative. The Restoration Field Specialist II (RFSP II) position performs a wide variety of skilled landscape and maintenance work in the creation and management of habitat restoration sites and the improvement of park visitor use areas at various locations within Ventura and Los Angeles Counties.  The RFSP II position reports to, and takes direction from, Restoration Field Supervisors, the Restoration Program Manager, and the Chief of Natural Resources and Planning.

This position requires demonstrated three (3) years of experience in plant nursery or grounds maintenance or other relevant field work to demonstrate sufficient expertise with plant identification, installation, monitoring, and maintenance.

This position reports to, and takes direction from, Restoration Field Supervisors, Restoration Program Manager, and the Chief of Natural Resources and Planning. This position supervises no other staff and generally works as part of a team of three to four (3 to 4) coworkers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Maintain assigned MRCA fleet vehicle.
• Demonstrate the ability to distinguish between a majority of native and non-native invasive plants on all work sites.

• Demonstrate continuous interest in learning about both native and non-native plant growth characteristics.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to life and carry items weighing up to 90 pounds for 75 feet over rough terrain multiple times per day, frequently operate light- and medium-duty equipment, work in outdoor weather conditions, frequently move about work sites, communicate and exchange information, observe site conditions, transport equipment, materials, and tools between vehicle and work sites on a daily basis, and occasionally ascend/descend a ladder to access areas of work.

Tuesday through Friday, 10 hours per day, 40 hours per week. Occasionally start/end times may vary. Occasional overtime work upon prior approval by Supervisors. The position requires daily travel to various agency locations. The work is spread over numerous job sites from the Santa Clarita Valley, the full length of the Santa Monica Mountains, Simi Hills, Santa Susana Mountains, and the western San Gabriel Mountains. The headquarters of the MRCA Restoration Division is in the Calabasas area at King Gillette Ranch; however, most days employees drive directly to a different job site. Based on vehicle availability, most crew members are assigned a truck and gas card soon after a probationary period.

The majority of MRCA properties are open to the general public. Parking lots, shared public/office restrooms and in-person meeting rooms are open during regular business hours. The MRCA is committed to protecting its staff by ensuring appropriate physical distancing and proper infection control while supporting equitable access to services. Our requirements are based on the current County of Los Angeles guidance and are subject to change as the County updates their policies. This position is likely to have limited physical contact with members of the public in public areas such as parking lots, parklands, and vendor locations.
