About the Engineering Group Manager - Facility
 
The Engineering Group Manager – Facility position reports to the Deputy Director for Transit and Facility Engineering, and manages a diverse, talented team of seasoned staff. This team is well-versed in the delivery of capital projects in the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority operation and maintenance responsibility. This position is responsible for directing and leading collaboration on master planning, design development (including technical analysis in support of preliminary engineering and final design), construction management and close out, overall program/project management (including scopes, costs, schedules and quality of work), management of staff resources (both VTA and consultant), and coordination with project stakeholders within VTA and the community.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in civil or traffic engineering and five years of increasingly responsible professional traffic engineering experience, three years of which were at a level equivalent to the Associate Transportation Engineer class.

Other requirements include:

• Possession of a valid California Registration as a professional Traffic Engineer or professional Civil Engineer. California Registration as a professional Traffic Engineer is preferred.
• Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, maintenance of a valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record is required.

Senior Transportation Planner (New Position)

The Town of Los Gatos is accepting applications for the newly created Senior Transportation Planner position in the Parks and Public Works Department. This is a unique opportunity to shape and develop a vital role within our organization.

The Senior Transportation Planner will focus on managing projects and programs that support sustainable transportation opportunities for the Town while addressing and improving mobility, safety, environmental, social, and economic conditions around transportation. About the Department
The Parks and Public Works Department (PPW) is responsible for the maintenance and improvements of the Town's public parks, facilities, streets, and other infrastructure.  Our goal is to efficiently provide residents, businesses, and visitors with the highest quality service possible, with dedication and professionalism.  The Department has five service areas: Engineering, Capital Improvement, Streets and Signals, Parks, and Environmental Services. The Department also collaborates with all Town departments, and external partners and stakeholders.
 

• Engineering Services: The Engineering team provides services in the areas of encroachment permits and permitting and inspection of other work in the public right of way, including situations where new developments need to provide improvements in the right of way.  
   
• Capital Improvement: The Capital Improvement team develops and constructs capital projects across all Town assets, including improvements to roads, streetlights, parks, and Town buildings. See the annual capital budget for a list of current capital projects.
   
• Streets and Signals: The Streets and Signals team maintains the Town’s roadways, signs, and traffic signals. Traffic plays a big part in this team’s daily work as they seek to meet the needs of the community.  This includes traffic on major streets as well as on neighborhood streets where traffic calming can be a solution.
   
• Park Services: The Park Services team maintains the Town’s parks, trails, open spaces, facility grounds, median islands, parking lot landscaping, downtown planters, and the urban forest as well as administering park use fees and reservations.
   
• Environment Services: The Environmental Services team ensures that the Town is at the forefront of environmental stewardship. This team also manages the Town’s utilities, including the contract with West Valley Collection and Recycling for garbage service Town wide.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in transportation planning, city and regional planning, urban studies, civil engineering, or closely related field, and five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in transportation development programs including two (2) years of project management.  A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university is desirable.
 
License and Certification:

• A California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment.
• Possession of a Certificate of Registration as Professional Transportation Planner or Professional Engineer in the State of California, or certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners is highly desirable.

The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to fill current vacancies and establish an employment list for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher within the Sheriff’s Department.  The incumbent receives 9-1-1 system sheriff, fire, medical emergency and rescue calls; dispatches sheriff, fire and medical personnel following established procedures; maintains communication with officers in the field to ensure safety and provide back-up and information; provides relief coverage for the records unit; and performs related work as assigned. About the Position:  The Facilities Maintenance Specialist performs all aspects of facilities maintenance for the Administrative Office Facilities, including building operation, vehicle fleet maintenance, landscaped grounds and parking areas, and various physical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, painting, assembly, construction, electrical, data cabling, and security systems.  This position is also responsible for non-routine repairs and improvements at Midpen Field properties as well as performing preventative maintenance tasks, repairs, and minor improvement projects. The Facilities Maintenance Specialist will support Midpen’s utilization of contractors and act as a point of contact for a wide variety of maintenance and repair tasks. The successful performance of this work will require a working knowledge of a broad range of facility maintenance trades and technical principles, as well as a professional background and the ability to coordinate work with other Midpen departments. Work Environment:  This position is part of the Land and Facilities Services Department at the Midpen offices in Los Altos, California and will be required to work onsite Monday through Friday on a 9/80 schedule.  Work will be performed primarily in an office environment and at times at Midpen Field facilities and residential properties located primarily in the field. Positions in this classification must possess the ability to lift and carry materials and objects weighing up to 60 pounds and must possess the ability to push and pull objects weighing up to 100 pounds, with the use of proper equipment. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.

and three (3) years of experience in construction, maintenance, and/or repair of buildings, structures and/or

related facilities.

Completion of an apprenticeship program or the equivalent training in one or more of the construction

trades is highly desirable.

Licenses & Certifications Required:   Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

The ideal Police Lieutenant candidate will possess education, experience, training and perspective to help support the department’s direction and ensure its ongoing success. Minimum qualifications for the position include: 

• Possess of, and ability to maintain a valid State of California POST Peace Officer Certification
• Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience as a Police Officer including eighteen (18) months supervisory law enforcement experience as a member of a city police department, a county sheriff’s department, a regional park district, a district authorized by statute to maintain a police department, or the California Highway Patrol; and must have successfully completed the required probationary period for the required supervisory position currently or most recently occupied. 
• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred; applicants currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program with an accredited college or university, who have completed the equivalent of at least ninety (90) semester units and commit to obtaining a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university within twelve (12) months of appointment, may also apply.
• Possession of, or eligible to receive, Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Intermediate, and eligible to receive Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Supervisory Certificate(s) within six (6) months of appointment.

What You'll Do

The Dispatch Services Supervisor will plan, organize and supervise the operation of the Dispatch Services Unit in the Technical Services Division of the Police Department.  This position will also assist in the preparation and monitoring of the Unit’s budget, coordinate the Emergency Mobile Communications Van activities, and provide technical staff assistance to Department staff. The primary duties of this position may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Coordinate and assist in formulating policies and procedures for the Dispatch Unit, including the incorporation of procedures required by other local jurisdictions served.
• Direct, coordinate and review the work plan for Dispatch Services, and develop methods for improvement of service delivery.
• Assume responsibility for all dispatch personnel matters including: selection, assignment and prioritization of work; training; evaluation; and effective input concerning disciplinary matters.
• Prepare work schedules to provide for adequate coverage on all shifts; prepare and approve time off and overtime schedules.
• Respond to inquiries and complaints concerning dispatch operations and personnel.
• Perform dispatch duties as needed
• Assist in the development of the Unit budget; monitor and, as appropriate, approve expenditures.
• Establish and maintain effective communications with other Department units, other City departments and applicable agencies at all government levels; and assist in the development of emergency-related plans and procedures.
• Coordinate the maintenance and repair of dispatch equipment with other City personnel, contractors and vendors.
• Prepare various reports of operations and activities; supervise maintenance of operational records and files.
• Serve as the Custodian of Records for Dispatch Services.
• Represent the Unit at applicable meetings and conferences; attend seminars and workshops.
