Wastewater Operator II

$ 47.36 – $56.56 Hourly

$3,789 – $4,525 Biweekly 

Wastewater Operator II - A journey level classification in the Wastewater Operator series. The ideal candidate must be skilled in basic principles of mechanical, maintenance, and electrical systems. Must be able to recognize and report unusual, inefficient, or dangerous operating situations. Must have working knowledge of the functions and purpose of wastewater disposal systems; routine cleaning and basic operation of wastewater treatment equipment. Must have knowledge of algebra and geometry as required to perform the responsibilities of the position; basic knowledge of electronics and hydraulics. Must have excellent communication skills, work cooperatively with those contacted in the course of work, and have a dedication to safe working practices. Must be able to work on-call as assigned. Work independently, as needed. 

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and two years of full-time experience in a wastewater treatment facility in a position equivalent to a Wastewater Operator I. Possession of a Grade II California Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certificate issued by the State of California Water Resources Control Board.

Wastewater Operator III

Wastewater Operator III-An advanced level classification in the Wastewater Operator series. The ideal candidate  must be skilled in inspecting, operating, and maintaining a wastewater treatment plant and related lift stations including primary, secondary, tertiary and solids treatment processes. Must be able to recognize inefficient, unusual, or dangerous operating conditions. Solid experience in basic principles of mechanical, maintenance, and electrical systems; algebra and geometry; basic knowledge of electronics and hydraulics.  Must have good trouble shooting skills, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, training and leadership abilities, and have a dedication to safe working practices. Must be able to independently perform plant operations work; work on-call as assigned.

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and three years of full-time experience equivalent to a Wastewater Operator II in a  wastewater treatment facility.  Possession of a Grade III California Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certificate issued by the State of California Water Resources Control Board.

Special Events Attendants work behind the scenes making all Recreation and Community Services excel! This job entails interacting with the public and vendors participating in recreation and community activities, facilitating arts, crafts, games, and sports; performing participant check-in, reception duties and cash handling duties; assisting with large equipment (stage and booth) set-up, take down and housekeeping; opening and closing facilities. As experience is gained, may provide administrative and onsite program support; assisting with training, leading, scheduling and directing staff; organizing and directing event activities; preparing written and verbal reports and correspondence which may include drafting advertisements and social media posts. Pre-School Aides assist Pre-School Teachers with teaching fundamental cognitive, emotional, social, and physical skills to children three to five years old. Duties may include assisting with planning and leading program activities; interacting, leading, and supervising youth in arts, crafts, games, and sports; performing participant check-in and reception duties; assisting with equipment set-up, take down and housekeeping; chaperoning participants on field trips, opening and closing facilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:

Equivalent to graduation from high school and four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in recreation or aquatics program planning, coordination or leadership which included one (1) year of lead experience in the principles and techniques of effective supervision. College level coursework in recreation, physical education or closely related field may be substituted for the experience on a year for year basis.

About the Position

Positions in this classification perform work in the organization and implementation of the San Carlos Youth Center After School Drop-In Program and Athletics Programs. Performs thorough and thoughtful customer service with community members.

The Program Coordinator classification is the top-level position in the Recreation Leader Series.  Advancement from Recreation Leader Level II to Program Coordinator requires 500 hours of work experience at Recreation Leader Level II, or equivalent experience.

May provide functional supervision to a Recreation Leader I or II as assigned.  Receives general supervision from full-time Recreation Department staff members.

Work schedule: Monday-Friday between 1:00pm – 9:00pm, may vary as needed. This classification works 20 to 30 hours per week as assigned.

Essential Duties

• Plans, organizes, coordinates and directs specialized recreation programs for primarily youth and athletics as assigned. 
• Works directly with recreation programs for youth, adults, including individuals with special needs. 
• Coordinate and implement program schedules and activities for youth. 
• Drive youth in city vehicle and lead field trips. 
• Oversees adult recreational sports leagues. 
• Supports youth flag football and basketball leagues. 
• Supports youth flag football summer camp. 
• Oversees the work of volunteers, Recreation Leaders I and II as assigned, to ensure effective programs. 
• Maintains required records, including team registrations, program supplies, and program statistics. 
• Oversight of programs, staff, and facilities in the absence of full-time Recreation Department staff member.

Salary Range: $17.37 to $23.15/hour, DOE
