THE POSITION: As potential Police Sergeants, candidates in these roles will shoulder significant responsibility overseeing law enforcement and patrol duties during designated shifts. Responsibilities extend beyond field supervision, including the enforcement of departmental rules, fostering discipline, resolving subordinate issues, and conducting team performance evaluations. This role requires collaboration with armed personnel, possibly in uniform or plain clothes, requiring a balance of field and office tasks. Regular public engagement, often in high-stress situations, is a key element, necessitating strong interpersonal skills and emotional resilience. Adaptability to rotational scheduling and a variety of role assignments underlines the need for flexibility and versatility.

The Department: The Suisun City Police Department is a progressive and proactive law enforcement agency. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

DUTIES:

• Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews and participates in the work of assigned staff in Police Department support services functions including dispatch, records, and property/evidence; assists in the development and implementation of new and revised policies and procedures; reviews and approves work schedules including time off and authorizing timecards.

• Receives, classifies, and prioritizes incoming calls to the dispatch center including 911 calls and business line calls received from citizens requesting service or information; operates a variety of public safety communications equipment including 911 emergency telephone equipment, computer aided dispatch systems, and multi-channel radio systems; dispatches police and fire units and personnel.

• Evaluates response necessary as dictated by a given request for service; determines nature, location, and priority of calls; operates computer aided dispatch system to create calls for service within response criteria guidelines; assigns and dispatches appropriate police, fire, or other emergency vehicles, equipment, and personnel in accordance with policies and procedures; transfers calls to other appropriate agency in accordance with established procedures; obtains and dispatches other support services as necessary.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the flexibly staffed position of Public Works Maintenance Worker I/II in the Public Works Department within the Community Development and Services Agency. Depending on experience and the needs of the department, the position may be filled directly at the Public Works Maintenance Worker II level. The primary responsibilities under this position are to learn and perform semi-skilled and skilled work in the construction, maintenance and repair of roads, bridges, rights of way, parks and related County infrastructure in a centralized or rural location; operate and perform basic maintenance and adjustment to light and heavy equipment in the performance of the work; install street and traffic signs for County roadways and perform related work as assigned.

About the Public Works Department:

The Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining, repairing, designing, and constructing County roads, bridges, parks, and storm water drainage systems in accordance with local, state, and federal laws/standards, and in a manner that maximizes public safety. Due to the mountainous terrain in the eastern half of the County, road maintenance often includes snow plowing. The Yuba County Maintained Mileage for roads consists of 653 miles, 76 bridges (greater than 20’ in length), and numerous culverts/drainage structures. The department also reviews and approves land development projects as they relate to the County road, drainage, and park systems. Public Works performs administration and maintenance of the County parks and County Services Areas.

This position will provide oversight of the Seven Trees Branch Library as well as coordinate with other City departments to provide wrap around services in the Santee neighborhood, a Children and Youth Services Master Plan (CYSMP) demonstration site. This position will function across the department to support early education, adult literacy, ESL, Citizenship, and other library services for families in the Seven Trees/Santee neighborhood. The CPA will analyze available data and work with City departments to identify service priorities, partnerships, and opportunities related to support for educational and employment attainment of community members in the Santee neighborhood.

This position will:

• Develop strategies to monitor and evaluate programs and services in alignment with adopted quality standards and ensure that all programs at Seven Trees are executed against those standards.
• Identify gaps in service and programs and develop a strategic plan to address issues.

The ideal candidate will:

• Have current knowledge of the CYSMP, collaboration models, data collection, and analysis methodology as well as the ability to lead development of enhanced service models.

POSITION

Education:  High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience:  One (1) year of general administrative office work experience OR six (6) months of administrative office work in a law enforcement agency. Prefer experience with substantial public interaction.

License or Certificate:  Possession of a valid California driver’s license required upon hire.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The City of Woodland is looking to fill multiple Utilities Maintenance Worker I/II positions in the Public Works Sanitary Sewer/Storm Drainage Systems Division.  The Ideal Candidate for the current vacancy is someone who has a good understanding of all aspects of underground sewer/storm drain maintenance and repairs, and is familiar with the operation of light and heavy equipment.  This position requires a “team player” with good interpersonal, time management, and communication skills.  Candidate must be able to follow direction and display good judgment, as well as be organized, flexible, approachable, resourceful, and a positive team contributor.  Current and valid distribution certifications and Class A/B commercial driver’s license are highly desirable.

Utilities Maintenance Worker I:

This is the entry level class in the Utilities Maintenance Worker series.  The Utilities Maintenance Worker I may often perform many of the duties required of Utilities Maintenance Workers II but is not expected to have the depth of experience, skill level and certifications of the Utilities Maintenance Worker II. As a result, the Utilities Maintenance Worker I will have fewer opportunities to exercise independent discretion and judgment on matters related to work procedures and methods.

Utilities Maintenance Worker II:

This is the Journey level in the Utilities Maintenance Worker series. This class differs from Utilities Maintenance Worker I in that incumbent perform more complex maintenance duties including working independently, exercising judgment, and operating the full range of tools and mechanical equipment related to a specific assignment.  The Utilities Maintenance Worker II may also be expected to assist in the oversight and training of less experienced personnel. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level, or by candidates with prior work experience elsewhere.

Operate a variety of light and moderately heavy construction and maintenance equipment including such pieces as a loader, dump truck, water truck, steel rollers, High Velocity Vacuum Cleaner, mole trencher, and rubber-tired tractor with all attachments in order to perform a variety of routine construction and maintenance operations.  Operate fork lift as assigned and trained.  Perform general maintenance and repair on water distribution and/or storm and wastewater collection facilities including installation, testing, and backfill of service laterals.  Within the sewer and stormwater collections division, employees will be expected to use the Closed-Circuit Television Truck, sewer cable machine, flush sewer laterals and mains, assist in sewer tap installations, clean storm drain lines and catch basins. Within the water distribution division, employees will be expected to assist in water tap installations, install, remove, and repair water meters, hydrants, service valves, and mainline valves; take water meter and gauge readings; accurately maintain records and reports.  All Utilities Maintenance Worker I/II will operate equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates, utilize proper safety precautions related to all performed work and comply with the policies and procedures in the department Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP). Regular, predictable, consistent and timely attendance is an essential function of the position, in that employee must be present to work on facilities and equipment impacting the public’s health and safety.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS 

Respond to inquiries from the general public. Prepare as built sketches, when required to convey information to engineering for graphic documentation. Check water meters for proper operation; troubleshoot registers and repair. Initiate and discontinue water service to customer accounts as directed. Operate telemetering and flow monitoring equipment. Work cooperatively with others. Perform related duties as assigned. Both Assignments will require employees to be “On Call” as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Utilities Maintenance Worker I

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.  Courses in, or graduation from, the American Public Works Association’s Public Works Institute is desirable

Experience:  One (1) year of experience in construction or related field.

License and Certificate:  Requires possession of a California State Drinking Water Operator Certification Program (DWOCP) Grade I Water Distribution Operator (D1) and a Grade I Wastewater Collections System Maintenance certificate issued by California Water Environment Association prior to permanent appointment. 

A Pipeline Assessment and Certification Program certificate issued by the National Association of Sewer System Companies (NASSCO) is desirable.

Requires possession of a valid California Driver's License.  A Class B Driver’s permit and DMV Medical Certification are required within three (3) months of hire.  Employee must obtain a valid Class B Driver's License, a Work Zone Safety certification issued by the International Municipal Signal Association, First Aid and CPR certifications, Competent Person certification, and Confined Space certification prior to permanent appointment.

Utilities Maintenance Worker II

Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent.  Courses in or graduation from the American Public Works Association’s Public Works Institute is desirable

Experience:  One (1) year of experience performing duties comparable to those of a Utilities Maintenance Worker I.

License and Certificate:  Requires possession of a California State (DWOCP) Grade I Water Distribution Operator (D1) and a Grade II Wastewater Collections System Maintenance certificate issued by California Water Environment Association upon hire.

Requires all of the certifications necessary for a Utilities Maintenance Worker I and possession of a valid Class B California Driver's License with Tank and Air Brake Endorsement upon hire.

The Position

The current opening is for a regular full-time Police Community Service Officer and is under the direction of the Police Sergeant.  The main focus of this position will be processing, storing, and controlling evidence and other property received or confiscated by the Police Department; maintain property, evidence files, and records.  This is a regular full-time, non-sworn, technical support classification associated with law enforcement in the Town Police Department and may perform a variety of responsible duties not requiring the attention of a sworn officer.
