The City of Foster City is recruiting for a part-time Parks Maintenance Worker in the Parks Department. The is a part-time non-benefited position working approximately 20 hours per week, and no benefits are provided. 

Important and Essential Responsibilities 
Performs mowing, weeding, trimming, pruning, cultivating, fertilizing, pest control, planting and cleaning of lawns, trees, plants, and parks; removes and disposes of trash and litter; maintains park and maintenance equipment, buildings and facilities; maintains irrigation systems; performs construction and demolition of park facilities, drainage, low-voltage electrical and irrigation systems for new, expanded and renovated park facilities as part of capital improvement projects; performs minor plumbing or building repair duties; supervises and coordinates Sheriff’s Work Program personnel; operates small trucks, dump trucks, ride-on and walk-behind mowing equipment.

Education and Training Guidelines: 
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way would be:

Education: Completion of a job or technical training program in maintenance, construction, or groundskeeping; completion of high school or the equivalent. 

Experience: One year of full time experience in general maintenance, construction, or groundskeeping.  

Licenses, Certificates, Registration: 

• Possession of a valid California Class "C" Driver’s License and maintain license and a good driving record.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process. 

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview. An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner. 

The department will invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a final department interview. The Parks department will make the hiring decision. 

Expected Dates for Examinations (subject to change): 
Oral Panel Interview: Week of August 5 (exact date TBD) 
Department Interview: August TBD

JOB SUMMARY

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Reports to the City Manager but may receive supervision from the Director of Public Works, Director of Planning, or other Senior Level Manager.  May exercise technical and functional supervision over technical and office support staff.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Essential and other important responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Performs a wide variety of professional level research, administrative, and analytical duties in support of assigned functions, operations, department, and/or division; performs duties in support of various administrative operations and activities within assigned area of responsibility including special projects, research studies, budget analysis and other specialized functions.
   
• Administers and coordinates assigned functions or projects; participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, and priorities for assigned functions or programs; recommends and implements resulting policies and procedures; creates and modifies policy and procedural manuals and guidelines.
   
• Prepares and presents comprehensive technical, administrative, and financial analytical and statistical reports that present and interpret data, identify alternatives, and present and justify conclusions, forecasts, and recommendations based on data summaries and other findings.

• Coordinates, implements, and monitors special projects within assigned area of responsibility; performs complex research and analysis of new programs, services, policies, and procedures; prepares and presents reports.
   
• Plans, coordinates, and evaluates activities associated with assigned contracts; participates in research and evaluation of proposed contractual obligations and agreements; assists in contract negotiations and administration; monitors compliance with applicable contractual agreements.
   
• Coordinates grant administration activities; prepares, writes, reviews, and monitors grant applications; monitors existing programs for compliance with regulations.
   
• Analyzes federal, state, and local legislative proposals for impact on assigned operations.
   
• Provides staff assistance to higher-level management staff; participates on and provides staff support to a variety of committees, boards, and commissions; prepares and presents staff reports and other correspondence as appropriate and necessary.
   
• Coordinates and collaborates with departments, divisions, and outside agencies; serves as a liaison with public and private organizations, community groups and other social organizations; provides information and serves as a resource.
   
• Assists in the coordination of interdepartmental and departmental activities with other City departments and divisions and with outside agencies.
   
• Attends and participates in professional group meetings; stays abreast of new developments within assigned area of responsibility; maintains awareness of federal, state, and local regulations.
   
• May oversee the work of lower-level administrative support staff.
   
• Responds to and resolves difficult and sensitive citizen complaints and inquiries.

The City of Menlo Park is recruiting for an Assistant/Associate/Senior transportation planner (2 positions) to help our organization better serve the community and improve the City’s infrastructure. This position will provide an excellent opportunity to gain technical and project management skills and experience. As part of a small city, staff have the opportunity to work closely with the transportation team and community on a variety projects and subject areas.

The transportation division leads multi-modal and safety-focused infrastructure projects; engages with regional transportation partners including Caltrain, Samtrans, Caltrans, and other transit providers; maintains the City’s traffic signals, street lights, traffic signs and street markings; and administers local-serving shuttle and safe routes to school programs. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting or leading transportation studies and plans that may include complete streets plans, bicycle and pedestrian facility development, safety planning, railroad grade separation planning, or others. The candidate should have an understanding of state and national guidance on the design of transportation facilities, and have experience supporting or leading outreach on transportation projects with diverse community members.

Assistant Transportation Planner

This is the entry-level classification in the professional transportation planning series. Initially, incumbents learn and perform a variety of techniques related to the development of short and long range transportation plans and conduct oversight of transportation demand management (both internal and external stakeholders), citywide shuttle, and safe routes to school programs. Positions at this level usually perform most of the duties required of the positions at the Associate level, but are not expected to function at the same skill level and usually exercise less independent discretion and judgment in matters related to work procedures and methods. Work is usually supervised while in progress and fits an established structure or pattern. Exceptions or changes in procedures are explained in detail as they arise. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied and are performed with greater independence.

Associate Transportation Planner

This is the journey-level classification of the transportation planning series, able to perform the full scope of professional transportation planning duties. Positions at this level are distinguished from the Assistant Transportation Planner level by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned, working independently, and exercising judgment, initiative, and problem solving. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is distinguished from the Senior Transportation Planner in that the latter is the advanced journey-level class in the series and is responsible for performing more complex planning and project management activities.

Senior Transportation Planner

This is the advanced journey-level classification in the Transportation Planner series responsible for complex transportation planning and project management duties. Incumbents work on tasks that are varied and complex, requiring considerable discretion and independent judgement. Positions at this level conduct the full range of duties as assigned, work independently, and exercise judgment, initiative, and problem solving. The work involves problem solving of unique issues or increasingly complex problems without precedent or simple solutions. Assignments are given with general guidelines and incumbents are responsible for establishing objectives, timelines, and methods to deliver work products. Work is typically reviewed upon completion for soundness, appropriateness, and conformity to policy and requirements. This class is distinguished from the Associate Transportation Planner in that the latter is the journey-level class in the series, performing less complex tasks and project management activities.

Asset Manager

The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is the county’s largest provider of affordable housing, helping make rental housing safe and affordable for approximately 20,000 low-income households. 

How You Will Make an Impact:

The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is seeking an Asset Manager to provide professional, technical and administrative asset management duties in support of a portfolio of Agency owned assets. The Asset Manager ensures compliance with programmatic and financial regulations, oversees property operations, and works with property management to ensure the physical, financial and social well-being of affordable housing assets.  The Asset Management Division, along with the Real Estate Development Division, are part of SCCHA’s Real Estate Department.  The team working in Real Estate is mission oriented, dynamic and collaborative. The team works closely together to creatively develop new affordable housing as well as preserve existing assets.

This position requires extensive knowledge of property maintenance, construction project management, capital planning and systems management, budget preparation and financial modeling to analyze portfolio performance. 

What Our Team Is Looking For: 

Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience likely to provide the required core competencies may be considered. A typical combination that is qualifying may include: 

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in community development, business, economics, urban planning, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field; and
• A minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience performing asset management, real estate development, property management, and/or construction management functions.
• Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) experience is desirable.
• Possession of a valid California Driver's License and satisfactory driving record at the time of appointment is required as a condition of initial and continued employment only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than the employee's ability to get to/from various work locations in a timely manner, is necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. 

The City of Sunnyvale is looking for an Applications Analyst II to join the Information Technology Department (ITD) who is service-oriented and has a passion for meaningful work with enterprise applications (e.g. ERP, EDMS, GIS). The team focuses on strong customer service business-to-technical skills and experience in configuring and maintaining applications for department use and using problem-solving skills to provide the best solutions.

The IT Department manages the enterprise GIS and this position will focus on creation-of and support-of GIS based applications for various City functions along with system configuration and user support of other applications.  Under direction of a Principal Applications Analyst, or Information Technology Manager within the Applications and Analytics Division, performs technical and analytical work in the design, creation, maintenance, and utilization of enterprise applications.

Position & Duties - Police Radio Dispatcher Trainee

The Police Radio Dispatcher Trainee position is an entry level training position in the Communications Unit of the Police Department. The key responsibilities for Police Radio Dispatcher Trainee include:

-Learning to dispatch police personnel and equipment on both routine and emergency calls utilizing the computer aided dispatch system, video display terminals, radio dispatching consoles, and related equipment; Answering the telephone and receiving emergency, non-emergency, and 9-1-1 requests for assistance; Inquiring, interpreting, verifying, receiving, and disseminating information from law enforcement computer networks relating to wanted persons, stolen property, vehicle registration, etc; Participating in field training exercises as needed to fully develop dispatching skills; Performing all related learning and testing activities.

These amounts include an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay.
Police Communication Specialist
Education and Experience : Completion of high school or equivalent (General Education Development [GED] Test or California Proficiency Certificate) AND one (1) year of experience working in public contact employment defined as customer service, a call center, or a closely related field where substantial face-to-face or over-the-phone contact was made with the public.

The city of Santa Clara Water & Sewer Utilities serves the City of Santa Clara, California. The Position: 

The City of Santa Clara Water and Sewer department has an opportunity for a position of As Needed Engineering Aide. Job responsibilities include, prepares scaled and dimensioned plans based on sketches prepared by engineering personnel, maintains records of as-builts and updates existing Utility maps and records utilizing ESRI-based GIS applications, Maintains master map files, including such records of block maps, sewer and water infrastructure maps, and other maps, Performs computing and drafting operations in AutoCAD, involved in checking drawings of utility facilities, perform other duties as assigned.

As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

One (1) year working with geographic information system (GIS) tools and systems and/or

Desirable Qualifications: 

Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), and/or Database Management Systems.

• Routine to moderately complex tasks to assist/support the Water and Sewer department in data collection, maintenance, and updates.
• Assisting the Engineering department in managing and maintaining As-Builts and ensuring they are reflected across all relevant repositories.
• Assisting the Business Systems Manager in maintaining, managing and updating GIS, Lucity, and other business systems.

• Water and sewer utility operations, maintenance methods, principles, equipment, scheduling and planning
• Principles, procedures, practices, and techniques associated with data management
• Deal tactfully and courteously with others
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
• Work in a team-based environment and achieve common goals
• Communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively, both orally and in writing
