THE JOB

The Health Officer will drive the City of Berkeley’s mission to enhance community life and wellness for all residents. They will be a subject matter expert on the social determinants of health and frequently engage with institutions including hospitals, government authorities at each level, and the public. They will play a lead role in bridging gaps between the City’s health services, including physical, mental, and behavioral health and housing. This integrative approach aims to break down service silos, fostering comprehensive care for Berkeley’s residents! The position also involves strategic assessment of opportunities for key initiatives like CALAIM and updates to the City’s emergency preparedness plan, emphasizing a systemic and proactive approach to public health concerns.

The next Health Officer will evaluate and revise processes and protocols, present data and research to the City Council and Commissions, and provide clear direction for local public health protection programs. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of administrative or supervisory experience in providing public health services.
• LICENSURE:
  1. In accordance with Section 454 of the California Health and Safety Code, the Health Officer must be a graduate of a medical school in good standing and repute.
  2. Persons employed in this classification must also possess a valid license to practice medicine in the State of California issued by the California Medical Board and be eligible for a California certificate to supervise physician assistants.
  3. Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, the incumbent is required to maintain a valid California driver's license as well as a satisfactory driving record.

HIGHLY DESIRED

• EDUCATION: Master's degree in Public Health.
• EXPERIENCE: Experience with Incident Command System (ICS) activation. Prior experience working in partnership with community groups.
• LICENSURE: Board Certification in a Medical Specialty.

Experience: One (1) year of experience in the construction and maintenance of water facilities, involving the use of dump trucks, loaders, jackhammers, or related equipment.  

Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade. 

License: Licenses and Certificates: Possess upon appointment a valid Class B California Driver's License with a Tanker Endorsement. Depending upon assignment, a valid Class A Driver's License may be required. The Position

The City of Hayward is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer - Water and Wastewater [Formal Title: Senior Utilities Engineer] with a water and/or wastewater background to supervise, direct, plan, and coordinate the activities of the Utilities Division. DEFINITION

DEFINITION 
Under general supervision, the Development Review Specialist performs a variety of technical duties related to the processing of utilities service applications in accordance with related State laws, local ordinances and policies and engineering principles and practices. This position also assists with implementing water conservation programs, communicating with customers regarding water quality issues, and related record keeping. 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS 
Development Review Specialist - This journey level class performs a variety of complex, technical functions in the processing of utilities service applications. This position is distinguished from the Permit Technician by the specialized duties and knowledge of State and local laws and ordinances, engineering principles, and water service installations.
 
Senior Development Review Specialist – Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and may be filled by advancement after at least three (3) years of experience at the lower level of Development Review Specialist or by candidates possessing at least three (3) years of experience equivalent to that of a Development Review Specialist and demonstrating the ability to perform their duties with minimal supervision. This advanced journey level classification is distinguished from the Development Review Specialist position by the level of responsibility assumed, difficulty and complexity of work performed, and independence of action taken. The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to fill current vacancies and establish an employment list for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher within the Sheriff’s Department.  The incumbent receives 9-1-1 system sheriff, fire, medical emergency and rescue calls; dispatches sheriff, fire and medical personnel following established procedures; maintains communication with officers in the field to ensure safety and provide back-up and information; provides relief coverage for the records unit; and performs related work as assigned.
