The County of Yuba is recruiting for both Extra-Help and Full-Time Juvenile Corrections Officers I/II, in an effort to fill current vacancies and expand staffing levels. These positions are located on the Tri-County Youth Rehabilitation Campus which falls under the Juvenile Institutions Division of the Yuba County Probation Department.  The primary responsibilities of this flexibly staffed position are to: provide care, custody, supervision, and control of youth housed in the secured detention facilities while they are pending legal action or serving a post adjudication commitment; ensure and sustain a safe and secure environment for youth; and coordinate counseling and behavior modification activities associated with the operation of the facilities.

 

About Detention Services & Yuba County:

Our Campus provides youth detention services to the communities of Yuba, Sutter, and Colusa Counties as well as several contract counties through our Camp Singer program.  We operate 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, and includes the Tri-County Juvenile Hall, Secure Housing Unit, and Maxine Singer Youth Guidance Center (Camp Singer), under a Joint Powers Agreement between the three counties. What You'll Do:

• Conduct cross-connection surveys and tests to identify potential cross-connections to the water system.

• Provide technical supervision over maintenance staff performing backflow prevention assembly installation, repair, inspection, and testing.
• Inspect potable and recycled water systems to determine the existence of cross connections and recommend corrective actions as necessary.

The Essentials:

Cross-Connection Control Specialist

• Two years of experience in water system maintenance, equivalent to the responsibilities of a Water Utility Worker in the City of Mountain View
• Equivalent to completion of the 12th grade supplemented by approved courses of instruction in the theory, laws, regulations, and techniques of backflow prevention and/or cross-connection control.
• Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license.
• Possession of an AWWA Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certificate and a California Water Resources Control Board Water Distribution Operator Grade 1 Certificate.  
• Possession of an AWWA Cross-Connection Control Specialist Certificate within one year of appointment.  

 

Bonus Points:

• Experience administering a water system cross-connection inspection program is highly desirable.
• Completion of a recycled water site supervisor’s training class is highly desirable.

Overview:

The Program Administrator (Contracts Supervisor) plans, organizes, supervises, and coordinates the procurement by contract of professional consultant services (architectural engineering "A/E" and non-A/E consultants) and specialized Valley Water activities, and coordinates and oversees contract administration activities.  The Program Administrator works on contracts that are highly complex and sensitive in nature, where substantial judgment and initiative are essential in making recommendations and resolving problems. This is a management and leadership position with oversight of a team of contract professionals. This position reports to the Manager of the Purchasing and Consultant Contracts Unit, within the General Services Division.

Valley Water Telework Program: Eligibility for telework will depend on the type of work performed, operational needs, and the ability for the employee to perform the essential functions of their job duties while teleworking. For the SVP Fiber Division, this position will be assigned engineering work associated with SVP’s fiber network. This individual will assist with engineering design, engineering pole loading analysis software, site surveys, material selection and estimates.   

 

For SVP Operations Division, this position will be assigned engineering work associated with communication and electrical power engineering. Purchasing & Consultant Contracts Services Unit (Position Code 476)

Valley Water Telework Program: Eligibility for telework will depend on the type of work performed, operational needs, and the ability for the employee to perform the essential functions of their job duties while teleworking. Employment with Valley Water requires employees to live within 150 miles of their primary physical work location located in San Jose, California by their start date.

This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule, typically working 40% remote and 60% onsite, after completion of the probationary period (one year). Internal candidates will follow existing teleworking schedule.
