The Air District is accepting applications for the position of Senior Staff Specialist in the Strategic Incentives (SI) Division. The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to fill current vacancies and establish an employment list for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher within the Sheriff’s Department.  The incumbent receives 9-1-1 system sheriff, fire, medical emergency and rescue calls; dispatches sheriff, fire and medical personnel following established procedures; maintains communication with officers in the field to ensure safety and provide back-up and information; provides relief coverage for the records unit; and performs related work as assigned. These classifications require shift work and the ability to make decisions and act appropriately in stressful situations. The work also involves interdepartmental cooperation with various public safety agencies located throughout the County to coordinate the most effective response to requests for assistance from the public.

THE POSITION

To monitor City facilities during programs and rentals; to open and close facilities; to set up and take down equipment; to provide information and assistance to the public in person and on the phone; to perform general administrative tasks when assigned; to perform certain custodial duties; to ensure user compliance with policies, regulations, and laws pertaining to facility use; and to perform other duties as assigned. The purpose of this recruitment is to fill current temporary/part-time positions.

 

Temporary / Part-Time employees work no more than 130 hours per month

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

BENEFITS

All of these positions are temporary/part time. Temporary employees work no more than 130 hours per month AND 960 hours in a Fiscal Year.

The pay cycle is bi-weekly.  With the exception of worker's compensation coverage and sick leave accrual, no other benefits are provided. Employees must contribute 1.45% of salary to Medicare and 7.5% to a retirement plan in accordance with Federal Law.

Under general supervision, a Police Officer is responsible for the performance of law enforcement duties to protect life and property in accordance with applicable laws, to carry out special assignments as necessary, and other related duties as assigned. Requirements:

Candidates must have completed a California P.O.S.T. Certified Police Academy. Must be 21 years of age as of the appointment date, high school graduate or G.E.D., (as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education), and U.S. citizen or a permanent resident alien who is eligible and has applied for citizenship.

Out-of-State Candidates:

The California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) will conduct an evaluation of all out-of-state training. POST is the sole authority on applicable training and determines whether the candidate must attend an abbreviated academy, or a regular police academy. If an academy is required, the candidate will be hired as a Police Officer Trainee. Upon completion of the academy, promotion will be made to Police Officer.

Minimum Qualifications

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Requirements:
• Graduation from high school or possession of a GED; and
• One (1) year of experience in a water utility performing service work including the servicing, testing, and repairing of water meters or one (1) year of approved related technical experience with mechanical instruments

LICENSE
Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required.

CERTIFICATION
Possession of the following certificates is required within twelve (12) months of, and for the duration of, appointment:
• A valid Water Distribution Operator Certificate (Grade D-1 or above) issued by the California Department of Health Services; and
• A valid Backflow Prevention Tester Certificate issued by the California-Nevada Section of the American Water Works Association or the Foundation for Cross Connection Control and Hydraulic Research

Physical Demands

Public Contact

As public parklands, the majority of MRCA properties are open to the general public during operating hours. This position will have contact with members of the public in public areas such as parking lots and shared public/office restrooms, and during public meetings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
