The salary range for Senior Account Clerk is $69,582.24- $84,717.36 annually. This amount includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidate's qualifications and experience.

This position serves on a tree crew; prunes, sprays, feeds and fertilizes; stakes and otherwise cares for trees. This position climbs and prunes trees using rope and saddle and/or aerial lift equipment.
 
The City of Sunnyvale currently maintains a street tree inventory of over 38,000 street trees. The Maintenance Worker 2 – Tree Maintenance position is a fully trained/skilled tree climber position. The qualified candidate shall have at least six months experience similar to an ISA Certified Tree Worker Climber Specialist. This position serves on a tree crew, prunes, sprays, feeds, fertilizes, plants, stakes and otherwise cares for trees. This position climbs and trims trees using rope and saddle and/or aerial lift equipment. Successful candidates shall be required to demonstrate proficiency in tree climbing using standard arboricultural climbing equipment, i.e. rope and saddle, to pass probation of the Maintenance Worker 2 position.

THE DEPARTMENT

The Information Systems and Technology Division is responsible for the City's network infrastructure, cybersecurity, Help Desk support, and daily IT operations. The division supports a full-service city that includes City Administration, Police, Fire, Planning, Public Works, Parks, Beaches, and Recreation departments.

During COVID-19, the division successfully transformed the City into a remote workforce by rapidly deploying laptops, hotspots, VPN, and VoIP soft phones to staff. In addition, the City migrated to Office 365, launched an Intranet using SharePoint and deployed Microsoft Teams to improve communications. Many other successful projects have been completed in recent years, such as: Software-Defined Wide-Area Network (SD-WAN), Public Works Asset Management System, Public Records Act Request Portal, Document Management System migration, Police vehicle dashcam/mobile device terminal refresh, DNS records migration, addition of pacifica.gov e-mail addresses, and many others.

The division has several upcoming and exciting projects, such as:

THE POSITION

This is a full-time, professional level position that requires significant administrative, analytical, and technical skills. This position serves as a technical leader, providing complex analytical support.

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

• Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and monitor physical and virtual network and server infrastructure including hardware, software, real-time monitoring tools, peripherals, and devices ensuring effective performance and proper integration of components and systems with existing architecture; assist in infrastructure changes and upgrades to limit interrupted services.
• Administer automated deployment of software and updates over the network.

The Assistant Civil Engineer is an entry-level class in the Civil Engineer series. This class is distinguished from the Associate Civil Engineer by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within the Civil Engineer series. Incumbents perform less complex office and field engineering work and assignments are generally routine or closely related within a framework of established procedures. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have applicable education but only limited related work experience. The Assistant Civil Engineer receives general supervision from higher level professional engineers and may exercise technical or functional supervision over technical engineering staff. The Assistant Civil Engineer position does not require registration as a civil engineer or professional engineer. 

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Perform a variety of engineering duties in support of capital improvement projects including road construction, storm drains, sewers, traffic systems and related construction projects.

The incumbent in this position will be part of a high performing office of 11 employees and will report to the Director and Assistant Director of OER. THE DEPARTMENT:

THE POSITION:

Under the direction of the department Director, the Assistant Community & Economic Development Director (Assistant Director) will assist the Director in managing, directing, supervising, and coordinating the activities and operations of the department.  Depending on background and experience, the Assistant Director will provide oversight to one or more of the department divisions.  In addition, the Assistant Director will develop and enhance department policies and procedures, support in the development and management of the department budget, engage with the community on various development and/or City projects, support the business and development community, be a thought partner on creation and implementation of City policies and programs, serve in the absence of the Director, prepare reports and conduct presentations to Council, Boards, Commissions, and community groups, work cross-departmentally throughout the City.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The annual salary is $159,336 to $193,668.  Placement within this range is dependent upon qualifications.  The Assistant Community & Economic Development Director is a regular position of the Mid-Management employee group, eligible to receive all related benefits to the group, including:

Retirement:  Participation in MCERA (Marin County Employee Retirement Association) plan, which offers reciprocity between agencies in CalPERS.

Medical Insurance:  EE Only - $735.86; Employee + 1 l- $1,471.71; Employee + Family - $1,913.24; Waive coverage - $735.86.

Dental:  Fully paid for employee and dependents.

Vision:  Fully paid for employee and dependents.

Administrative Leave:  10 days per calendar year (applied every January pro-rated based on date of hire).

Vacation:  Vacation accrual of 15 days per year for the first 5 years, pro-rated based on hire date; additional accrual based on years of service up to 25 days per year.

Holidays:  12 paid holidays, plus 1 floating holiday per year.

Sick Leave:  12 days per year.

The transportation division leads multi-modal and safety-focused infrastructure projects; engages with regional transportation partners including Caltrain, Samtrans, Caltrans, and other transit providers; maintains the City’s traffic signals, street lights, traffic signs and street markings; and administers local-serving shuttle and safe routes to school programs. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting or leading transportation studies and plans that may include complete streets plans, bicycle and pedestrian facility development, safety planning, railroad grade separation planning, or others. The candidate should have an understanding of state and national guidance on the design of transportation facilities, and have experience supporting or leading outreach on transportation projects with diverse community members.

Assistant Transportation Planner

This is the entry-level classification in the professional transportation planning series. Initially, incumbents learn and perform a variety of techniques related to the development of short and long range transportation plans and conduct oversight of transportation demand management (both internal and external stakeholders), citywide shuttle, and safe routes to school programs. Positions at this level usually perform most of the duties required of the positions at the Associate level, but are not expected to function at the same skill level and usually exercise less independent discretion and judgment in matters related to work procedures and methods. Work is usually supervised while in progress and fits an established structure or pattern. Exceptions or changes in procedures are explained in detail as they arise. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied and are performed with greater independence.

Associate Transportation Planner

This is the journey-level classification of the transportation planning series, able to perform the full scope of professional transportation planning duties. Positions at this level are distinguished from the Assistant Transportation Planner level by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned, working independently, and exercising judgment, initiative, and problem solving. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is distinguished from the Senior Transportation Planner in that the latter is the advanced journey-level class in the series and is responsible for performing more complex planning and project management activities.

Senior Transportation Planner

This is the advanced journey-level classification in the Transportation Planner series responsible for complex transportation planning and project management duties. Incumbents work on tasks that are varied and complex, requiring considerable discretion and independent judgement. Positions at this level conduct the full range of duties as assigned, work independently, and exercise judgment, initiative, and problem solving. The work involves problem solving of unique issues or increasingly complex problems without precedent or simple solutions. Assignments are given with general guidelines and incumbents are responsible for establishing objectives, timelines, and methods to deliver work products. Work is typically reviewed upon completion for soundness, appropriateness, and conformity to policy and requirements. This class is distinguished from the Associate Transportation Planner in that the latter is the journey-level class in the series, performing less complex tasks and project management activities.

Primary responsibilities:

• Performs calculations and technical plan checks of public works and utility projects
• Assists in performing field-related surveys and utility inspections for private and public construction
• Assists in preparing oftentimes extensive research of engineering plans for public and private construction plans
• Assists in construction drawing plan review and participates in post-construction inspections in the field
• Participates in the filing and retrieval of engineering maps, documents, and records as requested by the public and City personnel
• Provides exceptional customer service at the public counter, via email, and on the phone
• Prepares permits and work orders for water and wastewater connections and installations, and coordinates work with City field crews
• Responds to inquiries from consultants, contractors, and the public regarding City engineering requirements
