Job Description

Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician supports the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients served by the San Francisco Department of Public Health. Assists registered pharmacists in performing nonprofessional duties in an institutional pharmacy; receives, inspects, stores, and fills orders for pharmaceutical supplies. Nature of work involves continuous close attention to detail and some potential exposure to hazardous substances.

Under supervision, the Pharmacy Technician performs the following essential job functions:

• Accurately prepares unit dose medications, compounds a variety of pharmaceuticals under the supervision of a Pharmacist, including intravenous admixtures according to proper aseptic technique and in accordance with, professional standards and departmental policies and procedures, in order to maintain required levels of supply and to provide patients with needed medications;
• Prepares or repackages drugs and pharmaceuticals under the supervision of a Pharmacist, in amounts needed to fill written orders/prescriptions in order to provide patients with needed medication and to maintain required levels of supply;
• Prepares medication labels based on written orders from physicians and other professional staff according to California State Board of Pharmacy requirements;
• Records billing information for accurate and appropriate billing of patients for medications, involving use of desktop computer keyboard for entering medication orders and billing information;
• Maintains drug and pharmaceutical stock levels by counting and checking stores of drugs and pharmaceuticals against standard, pre-set stock levels, ordering and verifying deliveries against invoices to ensure accuracy; 
• Inspects and stores delivered stock in the pharmacy patient care areas by sorting and shelving them for optimal retrieval;
• Delivers, retrieves, and exchanges medications and pharmaceutical items to and from specified areas, or for dispensing by cart to ensure that clinical and patient needs are met;
• Provides information to patients, public and other healthcare providers within the scope of Technician activities through a variety of methods, including personal contact, at the Pharmacy window, in patient care areas, and by telephone or video.  This does not include medication counseling or providing drug information; 
• Orients and trains new personnel, pharmacy students, or others on departmental policies and procedures appropriate to a Technician’s scope of work;
• Uses, maintains, and troubleshoots automated dispensing equipment or relevant pharmacy-related software and other equipment necessary for pharmacy operations;
• Accurately prepares, dispenses, and documents controlled substance orders, and maintains accurate inventory records.

The 2409 Pharmacy technician also performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

1.   Experience: One (1) year (equivalent to 2,000 hours) of experience (in the last 5 years) assisting in the preparation of drug and pharmaceutical items in a licensed pharmacy;

AND

2.   License: Possession of a valid Pharmacy Technician License/Registration issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy. (Please attach a copy)

• License status must be "Current" according to search.dca.ca.gov/

Substitution: Possession of a valid Intern Pharmacist License/Registration issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy may substitute for the required experience and license.

Notes:

1. One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week). Any overtime hours that you work above 40 hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.

Job Description

Under general medical direction of the site medical director and/or Primary Care Chief Medical Officer, the 2230 Physician Specialist functions within an organized system for the delivery of health care in association with other members of the health care team and performs specialized duties in clinical settings. The City of San Jose’s Community Energy Department’s is seeking a Principal Power Resources Specialist to join the Power Supply Team. Successful candidates should have a deep knowledge of California energy markets, relationships, and experience working with a variety of energy market participants, including: large energy trading firms,
independent power producers, investor owned and municipal utilities, and CCAs. Experience successfully managing and improving power portfolio performance for a large utility or power trading firm is highly preferred. Position and Duties:

The City Council has a Digital Inclusion and Broadband Strategy that seeks to accelerate the deployment of wired and wireless broadband for all people while making it more inclusive for the digitally underserved (the digital divide). Executing this strategy requires negotiating value exchange relationships with telecom providers, overseeing the creation, adoption, and execution of balanced broadband friendly policies, working collaboratively with the community on the aesthetics and other community concerns associated with broadband deployment, and setting the vision, strategy, and priorities for the Small Cell Team in the Department of Public Works, and the Macro Site Team in the Planning, Building, and Code Enforcement Department that executes the Permit to Inspect processes for the City.

The Broadband Manager reports directly to the Director of Civic Innovation and works closely with the Deputy City Manager responsible for 21st Century Infrastructure.

The Broadband Manager directly influences over $1B in private sector investments into the City of San José over the next seven years. This private sector investment creates thousands of jobs, dramatically increases regional GDP, delivers hundreds of millions of dollars of Smart City capability, and delivers tens of millions of economic opportunities for the digitally underserved.

The Broadband Manager requires a broad set of skills including strategic thinking, negotiation, telecommunications experience, public policy, team leadership, and public collaboration.  They will negotiate value exchange agreements to generate the demand for broadband deployments and ensure City’s departments fulfill that demand by permitting communications facilities including macro site, small cells, and underground fiber optics.  This role requires collaboration with various City departments including, but not limited to the City Manager’s Office of Administration, Policy, and Intergovernmental Relations; City Manager’s Budget Office; Mayor’s Office; Information Technology; Planning, Building and Code Enforcement; Public Works; and Transportation. The Broadband Manager will also work closely with innovative technology companies to evaluate ways to accelerate broadband deployment, including Smart City technology within the new context of COVID-19 public health, and the shelter-in-place dynamics that highlight the value of digital inclusion. Collaboration with public interest groups, community organizations, and other stakeholders will also be required to ensure public adoption of broadband deployment, especially the deployment of small cells on street lights. DEFINITION: Under general supervision, instructs classes in swimming, enforces all rules and regulations pertaining to the safety and well-being of visitors and patrons. Perform related work as required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

The following duties are essential to the success of this position:

• Lead all levels of swimming to all age groups.
• Provide corrective feedback and proper stroke technique.
• Maintain structure and discipline within a group setting, while encouraging and promoting student participation in a positive manner.
• Maintain certain class records and reports as required.
• Deal tactfully and courteously with the public.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other city employees, other agencies, and the general public.
• Respond professionally to emergencies, provide care as indicated under the scope of training.
• Actively attend and participate in required staff training and in-service drills.
• Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
• The ability to speak English clearly and understandably.
• Perform related duties as required.

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Must possess current ARC Water Safety Instruction certification. WSI certification required. CPR certification within 6 months of hire. ABA training is a desired skill. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and react quickly to emergencies.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: Candidates receiving a conditional job offer must pass a pre-placement fingerprint review. Candidates must be comfortable calling 911 in an emergency and providing care according to the level of training.
