POSITION INFORMATION

The Finance and Administrative Services Department is responsible for supporting the City’s operations through accounting, budget management, information & technology services, revenue services, payroll, purchasing and utility billing. This position, in coordination with the Administration and Budget team, will support the entire Department with a special emphasis on Citywide budget development and financial analysis.

DEFINITION

Under general direction of the Department Head, performs a wide range of responsible, professional, administrative, staff assignments which include oversight of interdepartmental and City-wide projects and programs; and performs related work as required. As this is a management development position, the incumbent may be assigned temporarily to other departments to gain broad experience in various municipal functions.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Assist in program, policy and budget development, implementation, coordination, revision, review, evaluation and monitoring; participate in interdepartmental task forces and committees; research, compile and analyze financial and other data; prepare recommendations for budget requests, grants, new programs, modification of services and equipment; plan, organize and coordinate assigned City-wide projects and monitor departmental projects; analyze, interpret and explain City policies and procedures.

Education: Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university, with major course work in Public or Business Administration or related field.

THE POSITION

The City of Daly City is seeking a highly skilled, business-oriented Senior Management Analyst with strong accounting, budgeting and financial management background to assist in budget development, projection and implementation of Citywide budgets.  This position reports to the Assistant Director of Finance and plays a critical role on the City’s budget, working in partnership with other departments.

The successful candidate will prepare budget reports, complex financial forecast and analyses, update budget forecasting model, monitor revenues and expenditures, make presentations, and provide staff assistance in support of Citywide activities.

The County of San Mateo's Information Services Department seeks an IS Systems Specialist III to serve in the Security Division. Under general supervision, the individual in this position performs the most complex and varied technical tasks related to the configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and monitoring of the County's security infrastructure. This position serves as a technical leader and technical subject matter expert in specific security area(s) and is called upon to analyze existing and future computing environments and ensure that all solutions comply with County policy, frameworks and industry accepted best practices.

As an integral part of the Security team, the IS System Specialist III will be responsible for system administration across a variety of platforms and services such as: Firewalls (Palo Alto); Intrusion Detection and Prevention (Palo Alto Threat Prevention and Wildfire); Endpoint Protection Suite/XDR; Security Orchestration Platform (XSOAR); Cloud Security services; XDR SIEM monitoring and management; Vulnerability identification and mitigation/remediation.

The position also requires support in ancillary systems that support IAM/ARM platforms such as SolarWinds, Active Directory, OKTA. Additionally, this position will perform intrusion event investigative and reporting activities as required. Similarly, incumbents in this class must regularly analyze requests for new system implementations and ensure that strategies are applied that support best practice security design and integration with existing security infrastructure. Furthermore, this position will be tasked with performing analysis and data production and reporting in support of any identified indicators of compromise, audit and policy compliance across the enterprise.

A Dance Instructor (Program Specialist) will plan, prepare and instruct recreation activities. Activities may include art, cooking, dance, pre-school program and other program areas. Programs are designed for children ages 4-17 (primarily 5-12) years of age.

• Different program areas will have different skills and knowledge requirements for the position; check with Recreation Supervisor. (For example: 6 ECE unites required for pre-school instructor)
• One school year teaching experience
• At least one year's experience working with children in an academic setting

The Aging and Family Services Division (AFS) of HSD specifically supports older residents and their caregivers to live active, healthy lives in the Tri-City community. With input from local, older adults (age 55 years+) as our guide, the AFS team provides a continuum of supportive services, from health promotion activities to home-based end of life care. DefinitionUnder administrative direction from the Human Services Director, plans, organizes and directs a Division of the Human Services Department which provides specialized family services; and serves as a member of the department's management team.

Class Characteristics
This professional management classification in the Human Services Department may be assigned as Youth and Family Services Administrator, Aging and Family Services Administrator or Family Resource Center Administrator. Incumbent follows general guidelines or professional and administrative standards in accomplishing assignments; it is characterized by the responsibility to develop and implement mental and physical health and other social services that support self-sufficiency, strengthen families, help children achieve their optimal development, and help older adults remain independent and engaged in the community for as long as possible. Supervision for the Family Resource Center Administrator is jointly provided by the Human Services Director and leadership team of the Family Resource Center. Review of work is occasional or on a problem basis with incumbents presenting alternative courses for policy decisions. Routine and unusual problems are handled within the context of general plans, broad policies, budgetary limitations and professional standards. Successful performance is measured by total results. This classification is distinguished from Human Services Director by the latter's responsibility to plan, organize and direct the work of the Human Services Department, and from Clinical Supervisor by the latter's responsibility to supervise counseling or social work staff, to monitor the implementation of professional standards, and to provide training and direction to professional staff and interns.   • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of programs and make adjustments as needed to meet the needs of children and families.
  • Manage supply lists and shop for required materials.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote children's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
  • Lead a variety of activities including, but not limited to, arts and crafts, organized games, story time, music/singing activities, science, cooking, early writing skills, and interactive circle time.
  • Develop and plan activities for preschool summer camp
  • Change diapers and support toilet training.

• Staff Management 
  • Train and supervise teaching staff.
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance, and professional development opportunities to staff to enhance their skills and performance.

• Parent Communication 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians, addressing inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a responsive and professional manner.
  • Facilitate open communication and collaboration between parents, teachers, and staff to promote a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Send emails to parents with child and class updates.
  • Manage Village Park Instagram

• Administrative Duties 
  • Prepare monthly newsletter.
  • Manage Village Park Preschool Instagram.
  • Complete assigned paperwork, including timecards and incident reports.

• Safety and Compliance 
  • ​​​​​​​Enforce policies and procedures related to child supervision, hygiene, emergency preparedness, and security measures.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities, equipment, and materials to ensure they meet safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of:
  • ​​​​​​​Early childhood education principles, curriculum development, and best practices.
  • Customer service techniques
  • Staff management
  • Administrative and organizations
  • Communication and interpersonal
• Experience and Education:
  • Completion of 24 semester units of Early Childhood Education
  • Teaching certification or license for early childhood education (preferred)
  • Possession of an appropriate California driver's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.

Class Times:

School Year (August-May)

Monday/Wednesday - 9am-11:15pm (2 year olds)

Tuesday/Thursday - 9:15am-11:30am (2 year olds)

Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday - 9am-12pm (3 year olds)

Monday/Wednesday/Friday - 8:45am-12:15pm (3 year olds)

Tuesday/Thursday - 12:30pm-3:30pm (3 year olds)

Summer Camp (June-August)

Monday- Friday - 9am-12pm (3-4 year olds)

Work Schedule:                    

8-20 Hours a week

Maximum of 960 hours per fiscal year                                                 

Note: These positions are part-time and do NOT have a benefits package. 

Salary:                   

$27.69-$34.30 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.
