This position performs a variety of work in the monitoring of county, state and federal detainees and maintains the security and safety of inmates and staff.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• Performs booking procedures, including receiving, booking and assigning prisoners to cells; performing body searches; fingerprinting, and photographing prisoners, etc.
• Maintains custody of prisoners’ private property.
• Maintains the safe and orderly operation of the County jail facility; monitors security cameras and door warning lights; screens and monitors visitors. Inspects all of inmates’ incoming and outgoing mail and telegrams.
• Inspects facilities regularly.
• Monitors the condition and activities of prisoners.
• Prepares prisoners for court appearances; provides transportation as necessary.
• Administers First Aid in emergency situations.
• Performs general office work, including but not limited to entering computer data, copying and filing documents, etc.
• Prepares and submits required records and reports.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

The City of Newark is seeking dedicated professionals to be Public Safety Dispatchers and be members of a team providing excellent service to our community. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the classification of Correctional Officer.  Under continuing supervision incumbents perform a wide variety of support in two areas: corrections, in which incumbents ensure the security, safety and care of individuals in custody; and bailiff, in which incumbents ensure the safety and security of the courts and their personnel during court proceedings; and perform related work as assigned. The Yuba County Sheriff's Department is responsible for the administration of the Yuba County Jail and Jail staff. The Mission of the Yuba County Jail is to provide safe, efficient, humane and secure custody of all persons incarcerated. The county prisoner population is made up of those who are sentenced to county jail, those serving state prison sentences in the county jail under AB109, and those who are pre-trial and who have not yet been sentenced. The jail provides a necessary link in the criminal justice system. There are numerous programs operating within the facility including medical, kitchen, exercise, commissary, visiting, law library, inmate education, work programs, work furlough program, and inmate classification.

This is an entry level position under general supervision to perform semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance of the sewage collection system, flow equalization facility, lift stations, buildings and grounds maintenance and to perform related work as required.

The City of Orinda is searching for a motivated individual to perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled duties in the maintenance, repair, and construction of City streets and drainage facilities, sign and striping repair and replacement, graffiti removal, and vegetation trimming and clearing. All full time maintenance personnel in the City are responsible for after-hours emergency call-outs, including weekends and holidays, on a rotational basis.  Special and holiday event (including 4th of July) coverage may also be required.    This position is the entry level in the Maintenance Worker series, reporting to the Public Works Supervisor.

Examples of essential duties:

• Maintains and/or repairs City streets and catch basins; grade, scrape, and level surfaces in preparation for road paving; performs repair of curbs and gutters and paving of streets and alleys using pneumatic tools, asphalt rakes, and other hand tools;
• Removes and replaces road surface material and debris; load, transport and unload stones, gravel, dirt, supplies, and equipment;
• Installs, repairs and cleans storm drains, pipelines, catch basins, and storm drain grates; cleans and maintains catch basins and right of ways;
• Trims and removes trees; performs stump grinding and root cutting;
• Fills, patches, and resurfaces holes, cracks, ditches, and service laterals; installs and replaces street and traffic signs;
• Performs skilled operation of the bobcat, street sweeper, dump truck, equipment trailer, and other heavy and light equipment;
• Removes and inspects manhole covers and manholes; mixes, pours, and finishes concrete to raise manholes to street surfaces; replaces manhole covers as needed;
• Places traffic control and warning signs; serves as a flagman; sets up lanterns and barricades;
• Operates a chemical sprayer in assigned areas to abate weeds;
• Performs graffiti removal; and
• Performs preventive maintenance procedures and minor maintenance and adjustments on equipment used.

Minimum Requirements:

Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:

Education: Equivalent to a high school diploma; and

Experience: One year of experience performing a variety of maintenance, repair, and construction and equipment operation work; and

License and Certificate: Possession of a valid California Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.  Ability to obtain Confined Space, Traffic Control Flagger, Trench Shoring, and Fork Lift Certificates.

Special Requirements: Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment:

Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, crawl, twist, climb and lift 100 lbs.; exposure to heat, noise, outdoors, vibration, confining work spaces, chemicals, explosive materials, mechanical and electrical hazards; ability to travel to different sites and locations; availability for on-call, stand-by, and emergency call.

Under supervision, a Police Cadet is a non-sworn, part-time classification that assists police personnel in a variety of operations in order to gain practical knowledge of law enforcement. They will obtain practical work experience that supports their career goals.

Employees in this classification may receive training and experience in each of the below duties.

CLASS CHARACTERISITICS:

Incumbents in this position are interested in law enforcement (and the Union City Police Department will provide the opportunity to learn various aspects of police work where they can integrate academic philosophies with practical experience. This position will provide incumbents on-the-job training and the ability to develop professional networking relationships for future service in government or law enforcement.

Positions assigned to Records may be responsible for:

• Copying, indexing, assembling, filing, distributing, and retrieving various documents files, records, and reports.

• Patrolling an assigned area by vehicle or on foot to ensure public compliance with existing parking ordinances.
• Maintaining communication with dispatch.
• Writing warnings and citations for illegally parked vehicles.
• Observing and reporting hazardous conditions such as missing traffic signals, signs, and street markings that need to be repainted.
• Maintaining assigned equipment and supplies such as hand-held citation computers, citation books, rain gear, street cones, flares, etc.
• Performing traffic control duties such as setting up barricades and temporary signs, directing traffic, and placing inoperative bags on broken parking meters.

Positions assigned to Fleet Maintenance may be responsible for:

• Reviewing and reporting vehicle deficiencies.
• Scheduling repair of vehicles and equipment.
• Transporting vehicles and equipment to repair shop.
• Arranging for tows.
• Entering and maintaining vehicle inventory/status log.
• Coordinating service, oil changes, and cleaning of vehicles.
• Maintaining supplies such as stocking first aid kits, fingerprint kits and flares, ensuring fire extinguishers are full and appropriately charged, etc.
• Registering undercover vehicles with DMV.

The Position
Under general or direct supervision, performs a wide variety of law enforcement duties involving crime prevention and investigation, protection of life and property, and enforcement of laws, codes, and ordinances; performs investigation duties, assists in the preparation of cases and testifies in court; cooperates with other law enforcement agencies and City departments; may provide lead direction for subordinate departmental employees and volunteers; provides information and assistance to the public; and performs related duties as assigned.

As with all employees, the Police Corporal is expected to make non-enforcement contacts with the public in an effort to more clearly identify the needs of the community, and to assist the public in solving community problems. 

Class Characteristics
This is a lead-level class in the sworn officer series responsible for performing a wide variety of law enforcement tasks in support of a municipal police department. Incumbents perform the full range of duties as assigned, working independently, and exercising judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is distinguished from Police Sergeant in that the latter exercises technical and functional direction over and provides training to lower-level staff on an assigned shift.

Education and Experience
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade; successful completion of 30 semester units of college course work at an accredited institution.  An Associate's degree or higher is desirable. The minimum education requirements may be met by the possession of an Intermediate Post Certificate.

Experience: Possession of a POST Basic Certificate at the time of application. 

Licenses and Certifications:

• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, and a good driving record, to be maintained
  throughout employment.
• Possession of a valid Basic Certificate issued by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST). 
• Possession and maintenance of firearms qualification.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications and supplemental questionnaires received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process. 

The process will consist of four Oral Panel Interview (Technical - weighted 30%; Tactical - weighted 30%; Community - weighted 30%; and Presentation - weighted 10%). An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 80% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner. 

The department will invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a final department interview. The Police department will make the hiring decision.

FACILITY MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST
Part-Time Position (20 Hours per Week)

Definition
Under the general direction of the District Manager, performs facility maintenance and safety evaluations on the District’s buildings and surrounding grounds and performs related work and supportive services as required. This position serves as the facility manager for District buildings, coordinating professional repair, maintenance, and housekeeping services, managing security access systems, and ensuring facilities comply with regulatory standards and codes.

San Mateo County Health is excited to be able to offer a full-time, benefited, unique job opportunity to well-qualified individuals for the position of Supervising Nurse Practitioner (Supervising NP) Forensic Medical Unit, as part of San Mateo Medical Center's Keller Center.

The Keller Center for Family Violence Intervention is a unique outpatient medical unit affiliated with San Mateo Medical Center Emergency Department. We perform forensic medical exams on victims of assault and abuse and work in a collaborative multidisciplinary team that includes law enforcement, the District Attorney’s office, Child Protective Services, Aging and Adult Services, and several community agencies. We also provide education and serve as a resource for other community hospitals and clinics.

The Supervising Nurse Practitioner will collaborate with the Medical Director of Specialty Services and Deputy Director of Ambulatory Nursing in planning, organizing and directing the activities and staff of the Keller Center along with developing standards of practice for forensic exams and reporting. This classification is distinguished from the Nurse Practitioner Series for having full administrative supervisory responsibility over other Nurse Practitioners. The selected individual will spend up to 30% of time in direct patient care at SMMC, which includes performing forensic medical exams for victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, elder abuse and child abuse. Testifying in court will be part of the job responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:

• At least two years of forensic examination training and experience
• Trauma Informed Care training and experience
• Experience bringing diverse viewpoints and stakeholders together successfully to accomplish goals and commands the trust and respect of others
• Interest in team-based care and creating a positive patient experience, and has demonstrated innovation and initiative in realizing that vision
• Has overseen and led complex projects and coordinated interdisciplinary teams
• Has at least two years of experience in supervising and mentoring others
• At least three years of experience as a Practitioner, and a minimum of six months of lead or supervisory experience overseeing clinical care

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification:

• Possession of a California license as a Registered Nurse.
• Possession of a California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) Nurse Practitioner Certification.
• Possession of a California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) Furnishing Number.
