About Youth Intervention Service s

Youth Intervention Services is the City's internal team that delivers services to youth in the spectrum of risk, which may include such behaviors as school truancy, school expulsion, fighting and recreational drug or alcohol use. Youth Intervention Services provides various programs to assist youth in shifting from these behaviors to a more positive life path. These programs support youth in a variety of ways, and several have a strong case management component that allows staff to develop individual service plans and strategies specific to their youths' needs.

Role Descr iption

The Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services Department is currently seeking to fill multiple full-time Youth Outreach Worker vacancies in the Community Services Division.

Join us in creating safer school environments and providing essential support to empower our youth. We seek a dedicated individual to join our Safe School Campus Initiative and Female Intervention Team programs, with experience and specializing in engaging with gang-impacted and gang-intentional youth. As a Youth Outreach Worker, you will be at the forefront of helping at-risk youth in underserved communities while playing a key role in preventing and de-escalating acts of violence on and off school campuses.

Your role will involve building trust, offering support, and guiding these youth towards a brighter future through mentorship, intervention, community engagement and case management services .

Under direct supervision (Youth Outreach Worker I) or general supervision (Youth Outreach Worker II), the Youth Outreach Worker provides specialized services to youth demonstrating high risk factors, living in disadvantaged and historically underserved communities, and/or attending schools with higher levels of violence and trauma. The role focuses on preventing youth delinquency through outreach, intervention, mentorship, and case management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Recruitment and Engagement:

• Recruit potential youth participants from disadvantaged, gang-prone, or gang-impacted communities and schools.
• Assist in preventing youth delinquency by providing intervention, mentorship, and case management services.

1. Assessment and Referral:

• Assess youth participants to determine individual and/or family needs for referral services.
• Provide information on referral services and enroll participants in outreach programs or services.

1. Intervention and Diversion Services:

• Provide intervention and diversion services, including career and education development, mentorship training and referral, gang intervention and mediation services, gang diversion, family support services, tattoo removal, and street outreach.

1. Case Management/Transformative Mentoring:

• Use a case management approach to mentor youth participants, determine readiness for programs, conduct weekly check-ins, develop action plans, set goals, and plan pro-social activities.
• Maintain case records and notes and review cases with the supervisor.

1. Individual Service Plans (ISPs):

• Create and implement Individual Service Plans for youth participants.

1. Administrative Duties:

• Operate and utilize various standard office equipment (computers, printers, scanners, phones, calculators, fax machines).
• Perform clerical tasks such as data entry and P-Card reimbursements.

1. Collaboration and Networking:

• Develop working relationships with public and private agencies, private businesses, community-based organizations, non-profit organizations, and City, County, and State departments and agencies, including law enforcement.
• Perform community outreach activities, including canvassing neighborhoods and attending community outreach events and meetings.

1. Presentations and Public Speaking:

• Give presentations at schools and community meetings to staff, youth, and parents.

• Work on special programs or other outreach programs as assigned.

• Provide bilingual translation as needed.

STEP #4: ORAL BOARD INTERVIEW

STEP #5: BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION PROCESS

• Eligible candidates will complete a Personal History Statement (PHS) packet. Background investigators will then be assigned to assist candidates through the process. SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Under the general direction of the Assistant City Engineer or City Engineer this is the professional engineer classification responsible to perform complex engineering calculations and to review development maps and plans for compliance with Federal, State and Municipal Codes and specifications.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is position is the advanced journey level class in the engineering series. Positions at this level are distinguished from other classes within the series by the level of responsibility assumed, complexity of duties assigned, independence of action taken, by the amount of time spent performing the duties, and the nature of the public contact made. Employees perform the most difficult and responsible types of duties assigned to classes within this series, including providing direct supervision over assigned personnel including Assistant or Associate Engineers. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the Associate Engineer class.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices. 1. Participate in the development and implementation of goals and objectives; implement policies and procedures related to the engineering division. 2. Assist City Engineer in the preparation and monitoring of the capital improvement program. 3. May provide direct supervision as assigned by City Engineer to professional and technical engineering staff within the engineering division; assign daily work and monitor work progress; evaluate work in progress and provide training and technical assistance. 4. Administer development reviews for site plan approval for streets, utilities, tentative final subdivision and parcel maps. 5. Administer public works construction contracts, supervise quality and exercise control on all public works projects; supervise and perform preparation and maintenance of all required legal descriptions and documents necessary to acquire land, rights of way; and easements; process encroachment requests into City Easements and rights of way. 6. Supervise, oversee and participate in the development of Civil Engineering designs and plans including the calculation of the quantity, quality and cost of materials and the development of specifications related to the assigned project. 7. Participate in the review and approval of subdivision plans; ensure that public improvements comply with City standards, applicable codes, local, federal and state legislation, as well as sound engineering practices. 8. Provide administrative and engineering assistance to developers, contractors, consultants, other agencies and the general public to resolve complaints and problems and ensure successful project completion.

QUALIFICATIONS The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties. CITY OF CERES Senior Civil Engineer (Continued) Coordinate phases of major construction projects and prepare progress reports. Conduct comprehensive engineering studies and analyses and prepare reports with appropriate recommendations. Ensure project compliance with State, Federal, and local rules, laws and regulations. Interpret and apply pertinent laws, rules and regulations. Provide direct supervision and training to assigned personnel. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contracted in the course of work. Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Education/Training: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field. Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible professional public works engineering experience or two years as an Associate Engineer in the City of Ceres, including lead work or supervisory experience. License or Certificate: Possession of an appropriate, valid driver’s license, to be maintained as a condition of continued employment. Possession of a certificate of registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California is required. If licensed in another state, must obtain California Professional Civil Engineer within six months of appointment.

The Position

Under the general supervision of a Fire Battalion Chief / Fire Marshal, the Fire Inspector performs the full range of fire inspection duties including fire and life safety inspection, plan review, code enforcement activities, and assistance with fire investigations.
 
The Fire Inspector is a hard-working and dedicated individual with experience and ability to perform a full range of fire prevention duties, including: inspecting residential, commercial and industrial units for compliance with safety laws and ordinances, as well as maintaining complete and accurate records of fire safety codes, regulations, ordinances, inspections, violations, and penalties.

Examples of Duties

In addition to the technical duties involved with fire inspection, the Fire Inspector will have opportunities to educate and enrich the San Bruno community by planning and conducting public education programs and outreach regarding fire prevention, make presentations to civic organizations and school groups, as well as observing fire drills in schools, convalescent homes, businesses, and other places within the City. 
 
The Fire Inspector will also work cooperatively with internal City departments on inspections and projects, provide expert guidance and direct support for plan check reviews, including providing professional-level reviews, comments, and recommendations to ensure that work conforms to current fire code standards and established City policy and procedure.

Typical Qualifications

Requirements
 
In addition to one year of experience in fire and life safety prevention inspection or a related field (two years of firefighting experience may be substituted for the one year of fire and life safety experience experience), a special requirement to be 21 years of age or older (per Health and Safety Penal Code 830.37), and the successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation.

The ideal candidate will possess Ca. State Fire Marshal Fire Inspector I and/or II series as well as certification by International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO) or International Code Council (ICC), as well as a successful track record of the following:

The Dixon Fire Department is looking to fill a full-time vacancy for a Fire Engineer and to establish an eligibility list for any future vacancies.
