THE POSITION

This position performs various para-professional services for the Glenn County Community Action Department. They will provide direct services, linkage, prevention services, care coordination, case management, coaching, social support, navigation of systems, education, direct services assessments, and outreach for at-risk populations. The Community Health Worker will be culturally competent and practice trauma informed principles. This position is at-will, temporary, part-time and scheduled for twenty-five (25) hours per week. 
 

JOB DUTIES

• Plans and conducts community outreach programs, workshops and discussion groups to promote health education, risk reduction and healthy behavior.
• Build community capacity to address health issues.
• Plans, organizes and coordinates community events; assures compliance with department policies and procedures.
• Develops and gives presentations on programs and studies to providers, local schools, community groups, and state wide audiences.
• Collect data and relay information to stakeholders to inform programs and policies.
• Provide informal counseling, health screenings, and referrals.

The Capital Project Manager I-II (CPM I-II) is part of the Engineering & Construction department at Midpen and we have two vacancies. The Capital Project Managers work on the development and implementation of a wide variety of capital improvement projects to increase public access and enjoyment of Midpen lands. While both positions will emphasize capital project management, one will focus on construction management and the other will focus on design. Ideal applicants are highly organized, creative, energetic, self-starters with excellent oral and written communication skills, who enjoy working in an outdoor open space setting within a collaborative group dynamic. Midpen’s Capital Project Managers foster communication and collaboration with other Midpen departments to coordinate project requirements, work with local jurisdictional agencies to fulfill project permitting requirements, interact with project design consultants and contractors, and maintain project documentation.  Midpen is looking for well-qualified applicants who have demonstrated expertise supporting projects from conceptual design through construction. The first of the two positions will focus on construction project management – evaluating the constructability of a project during design, assisting with bidding, award of contract and managing construction oversight to completion. The second position will focus on supporting senior staff with in-house conceptual design of public access improvements for Midpen.

Capital Project Manager I is an entry-level position.  The incumbent will have acquired capital improvement, open space planning and design, land use, natural resource protection, and/or public administration experience, or equivalent education and training.  Assignments are generally limited in scope and set within procedural frameworks. The CPM I is assigned to manage small-scale projects or in support of larger scale projects managed by experienced Capital Project Managers.

Capital Project Manager II is the first experienced-level class in the Capital Project Manager series.  The incumbent performs the basic range of engineering review and construction management duties and/or conceptual design in the following areas: capital improvement, open space / public access, land use, and natural resource protection. The CPM II typically performs most of the duties required of the CPM III but are not expected to function at the same skill level.  Applicants with construction inspection, civil engineering, landscape architecture, project management, and/or construction management backgrounds are highly desired.

Work Environment/Conditions:  This position is part of the Engineering and Construction Department at the Midpen’s offices in Los Altos, California. Midpen offers a hybrid office/telecommute work schedule for this position.

Capital Project Managers will often work in the field and hike through steep terrain and wildland areas with poison oak and wildlife.  Field work will require driving in remote areas on dirt roads, working in temperatures ranging from cold and blustery to hot and dry. Ideal candidates will be comfortable working in these types of field conditions, as well as in an office environment.

• Capital Project Manager II:  Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in project management preferably in parks, open space, or related field.

    • Master’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Geology discipline
    • Professional license (PE, PG, PLA)
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

THE POSITION:

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in natural resources management, urban or regional planning, public administration, public policy, or a closely related field. A Master's degree in a similar field is desirable. 

License: 
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License.  

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

The Department

The Position
Utility Workers perform a variety of manual tasks such as building and grounds maintenance, minor equipment repair, and transportation of materials, and supplies in a locked facility.
 
As part of their duties, Utilities Workers assist the skilled trade workers including painters, carpenters, and engineers. Other duties include, but are not limited to: operating and maintaining equipment or hand tools used in the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and facilities; assembling, maintaining, and repairing equipment and furniture; providing complete custodial services to areas such as medical examination rooms, public restrooms, and lobbies; utilizing the assistance of and instructing incarcerated individuals, clients, or other staff to perform work; ordering and receiving supplies, tools, and equipment; delivering supplies to appropriate areas; digging holes, cleaning-out gutters or storm drains, and disposing of debris; operating a car, van, or light delivery vehicle to transport materials; operating and maintaining power tools, hand tools, and specialized equipment; and performing related duties as assigned.

As a Utility Worker, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, which may include but are not limited to the following:

• Fuel vehicles as required and report the need for service repair.
• Operate and maintain power tools, hand tools, and specialized equipment.
• Provide building security and issue parking citations.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

Utility Worker I ($27.00 - $33.76/Hourly) is the entry or trainee level class in this series. Initially, under close supervision, incumbents perform the more routine duties while receiving on-the-job instruction and gaining practical experience. As experience is gained, there is greater independence of action within established guidelines. Incumbents may advance to the higher level after gaining experience and demonstrating proficiency which meet the qualifications of the higher-level class.

Utility Worker II ($28.48 - $35.60/Hourly) is the experienced journey level class in this series. Under general supervision, incumbents independently perform the full range of duties. All the positions are characterized by the presence of fairly clear guidelines from which to make decisions and the availability of supervision in non-routine circumstances. Incumbents should demonstrate a thorough knowledge of operations and procedures and the ability to independently accomplish day-to-day tasks under normal conditions and to instruct others.

 

Education and Experience:

• Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is: One year of experience providing building and facility maintenance and minor equipment repair.

Knowledge of:

• Methods, materials, operations, tools, and practices used in moving, loading, arranging, and transporting materials, records, and supplies.
• Principles and techniques used in basic custodial services and minor equipment repair.
• Fixtures, building hardware, and equipment.
• Safety regulations, precautions, and practices.
• Methods, practices and equipment used in the receipt, storage, handling and ordering of materials and equipment.
• Basic arithmetic.

Candidates who pass the application screening will be invited to a panel interview (weight: 100%) which may include a performance exam. Depending on the number of applicants, an application appraisal of education and experience may be used in place of other examinations or further evaluation of work experience may be conducted to group applicants by level of qualification. All applicants who meet the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination. All examinations will be given in County of San Mateo, California and applicants must participate at their own expense.

This supervisory position will lead a team of engineers and technicians in the implementation of the City’s CIP, including the planning, design, construction, and inspection of a variety of projects.  Responsibilities include supervising employees, directing complex professional-level field and office engineering assignments, developing strategies and schedules for implementing the CIP, assisting with CIP budgeting, and playing a significant role in making a difference in the community! 
 
The Senior Civil Engineer classification is an exempt, mid-management level position.

Public Works CIP projects involve planning, design, coordination with end users, bid package preparation, and construction management. Therefore, exceptional organizational and project management skills are imperative to achieve department and City goals. Additionally, successful performance requires the ability to independently implement programs, projects, and policies in conformance with generally accepted standards, including possessing thorough knowledge of contract administration, project management principles and supervisory practices.

The Senior Civil Engineer will manage assigned staff and consultants and assist with budgeting tasks within the Engineering Division. Furthermore, the Senior Civil Engineer will provide and participate in critical team leadership to ensure that all engineering services, goals, projects, and initiatives meet the high-performance standards of the Department and City.

The County of San Mateo's Information Services Department seeks a qualified IS Manager II to serve on its Applications Team. The candidate will be an integral part in assisting the Division Manager of Applications to maintain, integrate, and support all Countywide applications supported by ISD and applications that departments request ISD to create and/or maintain on their behalf.
