The County of Yuba is currently accepting full time and extra help employment applications for the position of Office Specialist within the Community Development and Services Agency.  Under general supervision, incumbents perform a variety of administrative, secretarial, and office support duties of considerable complexity, requiring thorough know ledge of the assigned department, division, or program, its procedures and operational details; provides administrative support to various department staff; composes and prepares correspondence using judgment in content and style; performs skilled word processing, data entry and organization, telephone and counter reception, processing of invoices, recordkeeping, statistical and technical report preparation, and filing; provides information to the public and County staff; and performs related duties as assigned.  

Note: Office Specialist is a County-wide classification. The employment list established from this recruitment may be utilized to fill additional vacancies within the same classification in other departments including law enforcement departments such as Sheriff and Probation if they arise during the life of the Employment List.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Perform specialized office support work which may require the knowledge of detailed or specialized activities related to the department to which assigned.
• Compiles and assemble information from a variety of sources for the completion of forms or the preparation of reports; make arithmetic or statistical calculations.
• Enter, edit and retrieve data and prepare periodic or special reports from an online or personal computer system following established formats and menus; may create report formats using programmed software to meet individual needs.
• Provide information to the public or to County staff that requires some interpretation of policies, rules and/or procedures.
• Maintain records and processes various forms, applications, permits, or other department or division specific documents; type correspondence, reports, forms, and specialized documents related to the functions of the department, division, or program, which assigned from drafts, notes or brief instructions, using a word processor; may compose standard correspondence from brief instructions.

The Emergency Dispatcher I/II position in the Sheriff’s Department performs a variety of difficult work in the provision of 24-hour-per-day, seven-days-per-week public safety emergency dispatch service, including all 911 communications. Emergency Dispatcher I is the entry level class in the Emergency Dispatcher series.  It differs from Emergency Dispatcher II in that the II level is fully trained as a dispatcher and may provide training for the Dispatcher I. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Receives incoming calls from the public; determines type of assistance required, including law enforcement, fire or ambulance personnel, etc., and dispatches emergency and non-emergency radio and telephone communications to appropriate jurisdictions and agencies.
• Operates a law enforcement 911 communications network.
• Maintains radio communications with field personnel as necessary to relay messages and information, and to determine the location and safety of field personnel.
• Performs a variety of clerical duties as required, including but not limited to answering business telephones; processing and/or maintaining department records, including case files; compiling information and statistics for reports; preparing criminal history reports; entering/cancelling/retrieving data on computer; ordering supplies, copying and filing documents, etc.
• Processes civil, misdemeanor, juvenile and felony warrants.

Under general direction, provides support for contracts and grants administration. Responsibilities include preparing and analyzing contract documents, managing procurement processes, tracking contract performance, supporting records and budget management, providing grant administration and coordination support.

SRFECC is preparing for a Dispatcher Academy, beginning September 2025! As a Dispatcher I, you will be a key player in the public safety network, managing both emergency and non-emergency calls. Your role involves receiving critical information, dispatching appropriate Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) resources, providing live-saving instructions, relaying facts, and ensuring effective communication throughout the incident. This is an entry-level position ideal for individuals with no prior public safety dispatching experience. Advancement to Dispatcher II is expected within two years, and offers greater responsibility and higher pay.

This position requires the ability to work well under pressure, demonstrate exceptional communication skills, and think quickly during emergency situations. Shift work is required, and you must be available for nights, weekends, and holidays.

The City is now accepting applications for the position of Management Analyst I/II. While the current opening is in the Public Works Department, applicants interested in this position in any department are strongly encouraged to apply. This eligibility list will be used for any Management Analyst I/II position that opens throughout the City.

Management Analyst I/II is responsible for preparing and administering the department operating budget; managing and tracking purchasing; preparing written communication for executives and City Council; coordinating intra-departmental and departmental activities including public outreach; assisting with the development of various short- and long-term plans; supervising or leading administrative staff; and various special projects and duties as assigned. Positions in the Management Analyst class series are flexibly staffed and positions at the Management Analyst II level are normally filled by advancement from the Management Analyst I level after gaining the knowledge, skill, and experience which meets the qualifications for and after demonstrating the ability to perform the work of the higher-level class.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:

Education and Experience:

• Management Analyst I- Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• Management Analyst II- In addition to the above education requirement, two (2) years of progressively responsible professional level organizational administrative and/or operational support experience. 

License and Certificate:

• Possession of a valid driver license and a satisfactory driving record throughout employment.

Physical Demands:

• Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer, and to operate a motor vehicle to visit various City and meeting sites; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. General

The Claims Specialist will report to the Insurance and Claims Administrator and will assist with liability claims and insurance program for the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans), the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (Caltrain), the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) and the San Mateo County Express Lanes Joint Powers Authority (SMCELJPA). 

• Claims Processing and Management: Responsible for the processing of third-party personal injury and property damage claims against the District, ensuring thorough documentation, and adherence to both legal requirements and the District’s claims handling procedures. 

• Technical and Administrative Support: Provide essential technical and administrative assistance to the District’s third-party adjusting firm and internal and external legal partners facilitating efficient claim adjustments and resolutions. 

• Insurance Program Support: Assist in the administration and documentation of the District's annual insurance program, contributing to the enhancement and modernization of insurance processes. 

• Process Improvement and Modernization: Support the Insurance and Claims Administrator in identifying and implementing process improvements and modernization initiatives, aiming to increase efficiency and effectiveness in claims handling and insurance management.

• Maintains parks and landscaped areas in a clean and safe condition, including picking up trash and maintaining trash receptacles; cleaning and maintaining restrooms.

• Operates and maintains a variety of light, medium, and heavy equipment and hand and power tools related to the maintenance and repair of City parks and related facilities.

• Observes safe work methods and makes appropriate use of related safety equipment as required

• Maintains public facilities, shop and garage areas, storage sites, and other work areas in a clean and orderly condition, including securing equipment at the close of the workday.

• Maintains accurate logs, reports, and records of work performed and materials and equipment used.

• Receives and acts upon complaints, referrals, and concerns from the public; responds to and performs work in emergency situations as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:  

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Retirement:  The City is a part of the CalPERS retirement plan and does not contribute to Social Security. Sick Leave: 96 hours of sick leave per year.
