This position serves on a tree crew; prunes, sprays, feeds and fertilizes; stakes and otherwise cares for trees. This position climbs and prunes trees using rope and saddle and/or aerial lift equipment.
 
The City of Sunnyvale currently maintains a street tree inventory of over 38,000 street trees. The Maintenance Worker 2 – Tree Maintenance position is a fully trained/skilled tree climber position. The qualified candidate shall have at least six months experience similar to an ISA Certified Tree Worker Climber Specialist. This position serves on a tree crew, prunes, sprays, feeds, fertilizes, plants, stakes and otherwise cares for trees. This position climbs and trims trees using rope and saddle and/or aerial lift equipment. Successful candidates shall be required to demonstrate proficiency in tree climbing using standard arboricultural climbing equipment, i.e. rope and saddle, to pass probation of the Maintenance Worker 2 position.

The City of San Jose's Department of Parks, Recreation & Neighborhood Services (PRNS) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Senior Analyst for BeautifySJ in the Community Services Division of PRNS.

The BeautifySJ is a blight reduction, neighborhood beautification, and encampment management program within the Community Services Division of the Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services Department. BeautifySJ Programs include, the Graffiti Removal Program, Illegal Dumping Program, Neighborhood Dumpster Day Program, Neighborhood Litter Program, Recreational Vehicle Pollution Prevention Program, Encampment Trash Removal Program, Encampment Abatement Program, Clean Gateways, and Cash for Trash Program. These programs work to improve quality of life and neighborhood livability.

This analyst will lead administrative services and functions for the BeautifySJ Program to support our neighborhood blight reduction and encampment management programs. The Senior Analyst will be responsible for leading a team of analyst and administrative support staff, budget and expenditure management, grant writing and fiscal management, hiring and staff personnel functions, contract management, Council memo preparation, report writing, and managing the collection and analysis of program data. The person will report to and support the Division Manager. This person can also expect to work on intra-departmental teams and with interjurisdictional partners. The person selected for the position can expect to work in-person a minimum of four days per week after onboarding and training is completed.

The duties of this position will consist of:

• Supporting the Division Manager and Deputy Director to develop and implement the Annual Division Workplan

The Assistant Civil Engineer is an entry-level class in the Civil Engineer series. This class is distinguished from the Associate Civil Engineer by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within the Civil Engineer series. Incumbents perform less complex office and field engineering work and assignments are generally routine or closely related within a framework of established procedures. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have applicable education but only limited related work experience. The County of San Mateo Parks Department is seeking an experienced Park Ranger II to provide a variety of public services to preserve, protect, and enhance the natural, historical, recreational and educational resources of the County. Under supervision, Park Ranger II are responsible for maintaining trails and picnic areas, camping and boating facilities; performing facility maintenance; assisting the public in taking full advantage of the facilities and grounds; and assisting with interpretive and recreational programs. Incumbents also supervise temporary employees and provide guidance and training to staff.

The ideal candidate will have:

• At least two years of experience in park management, forestry, natural resource conservation, law enforcement, construction, emergency response or a closely related field.
• Practical experience in trail building and maintenance; facility cleaning and maintenance; customer service; working with volunteers; handling complaints; performing First Aid, CPR, and other safety procedures; interpreting and enforcing laws, rules and regulations; and performing basic construction and carpentry work.

Hazardous Materials Inspectors perform annual inspections to verify compliance with the California Fire Code, San José Municipal Code, and applicable standards at facilities that use, store, and handle hazardous materials within San Jose. Inspectors evaluate Hazardous Materials Management Plans, closure plans, and hazardous materials system installation plans during the facility inspection process. Facility chemical inventory submittals are evaluated for chemical classification and quantity range calculations. Experienced inspectors may be assigned to participate in installation plan reviews and inspections for the Hazardous Materials Development Services group. Hazardous Materials inspectors routinely provide crossover services as required for backup and customer service needs. Inspectors are cross-trained for customer service enhancement, as needed.

Duties for this position include, but may not be limited to:

• Knowledge of principles and practices of chemistry, biology, physics, industrial hygiene, or geology as applied to the management of hazardous materials, hazardous wastes, and industrial wastes.
• Knowledge of quality assurance programs and procedures, sampling techniques, statistical analysis, laboratory equipment, and its uses.
• Knowledge of methods of inspection.
• Ability to prepare routine reports.

About the Position

The City of San Carlos is hiring for a Building Inspector I. This is the entry level position in the Building Inspector series. Under direction from the Building Official or designated appointee, the Building Inspector I inspects buildings being constructed, altered, or repaired; Determines conformance with approved plans, adopted codes, zoning laws, statutes and ordinances; Plan checks residential and less complicated commercial projects; Responds to questions from the public at the counter and through other forms of communication; Investigates complaints and prepares notices and reports; Receives applications and issues permits as directed; Maintains and improves computer permitting and record maintenance, and performs other work as required.

The Building Inspector I level is distinguished from the Building Inspector II level due to the level of experience in the field of building inspection and the level of job knowledge.  This is a generalist class wherein incumbents are charged with conducting inspections in the less complicated phases of building construction and plan review.

Reports to the Building Official or designated appointee.

Essential Duties

• Inspects buildings and structures in various stages of progress using approved plans and codes to determine conformance.
• Discusses conformance problems with contractors and permit holders and assists them by indicating needed changes and possible modifications to bring the construction into conformity.
• Issues Stop Work Notices in situations where work is performed without benefit of a permit. 
• Follows a predetermined schedule of inspections in an assigned area and prepares reports of inspections made.  Schedules and coordinates field operations at request of Building Official.
• Maintains records of inspections made and actions taken. 
• Prepares reports of deficiencies with respect to structural stability, sanitation, electrical, adequacy of heating and ventilating facilities, their use, and occupancy.  Submits reports to the Building Official for review.
• Accepts completed permit applications for review.
• Logs applications and updates information in the Building Department computer system.
• Reviews residential and less complicated commercial plans for conformance to adopted codes.
• Prepares plan check comments and correspondence with applicants.  Prepares permit fees and issues permits as directed.
• Responds to questions and information requests from the public regarding building codes, and status of applications or permits.
• Receives and investigates building complaints from the public.
• Investigates NPDES complaints from the public or staff as directed and prepares reports and posts necessary notices as directed by the Building Official.
• Maintains the designated permitting software selected by the City.  Suggests improvements to the overall efficiency of the system.  Relays the use of the system to other members of the Building Division staff and assists them in its use. 

This position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in construction, repairs, and installations related to energy conservation, weatherization, and housing rehabilitation services at the Glenn County Community Action Department.  The Housing Rehabilitation Worker III may exercise lead supervision over lower level positions and contract employees. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week. This recruitment may be used to establish a list to fill future vacancies for the next twelve (12) months.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Performs a variety of housing rehabilitation and weatherization duties in the maintenance and repair; performs a variety of janitorial, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, blower door testing, and dwelling assessment.
• Weatherizes dwellings and performs energy conservation measures to include weather striping of doors, window repair, installation of, furnace filters, carbon dioxide detectors, caulking, cooler covers, sheetrock, thresholds, doors, windows, etc.
• Installs siding, wood stoves, solar and evaporative coolers; repair rooms and plumbing, installs energy saving devices such as gaskets on faucets, showerheads, and aerators.
• Assists in coordinating housing rehabilitation activities with other County departments, divisions, sections, and outside agencies.
• Meets with owners to select contractor to perform proposed housing rehabilitation repairs and to discuss proposed work.
• Receives bids and checks for changes on bid forms to comply with bidding requirements; prepares cost estimates for materials; requisitions necessary supplies and materials.
