Under general supervision, the Maintenance Worker II - Streets is assigned to the Streets Division of the Public Works Department and is responsible for performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks and operating power-driven road maintenance or construction equipment and trucks.

Examples of duties include:

• Operates and conducts essential maintenance using power-driven street and construction machinery, encompassing auxiliary equipment like gravel spreaders. Tasks include surface preparation for paving, cement mixing, pavement demolition, and operation of concrete cutting equipment.

• Loads, transports and unloads stone, gravel, dirt, asphalt, timber and other materials.

• Clean storm drains.

• Performs concrete work.

• Directs traffic, erects barricades and traffic signs.

• Participates in constructing or resurfacing streets with permanent paving materials.

• Leads small crews in performing of specific tasks.

• Cleans and cares for tools and equipment and responds to emergency calls.

This position serves on a tree crew; prunes, sprays, feeds and fertilizes; stakes and otherwise cares for trees. This position climbs and prunes trees using rope and saddle and/or aerial lift equipment.
 
The City of Sunnyvale currently maintains a street tree inventory of over 38,000 street trees. The Maintenance Worker 2 – Tree Maintenance position is a fully trained/skilled tree climber position. The qualified candidate shall have at least six months experience similar to an ISA Certified Tree Worker Climber Specialist. This position serves on a tree crew, prunes, sprays, feeds, fertilizes, plants, stakes and otherwise cares for trees. This position climbs and trims trees using rope and saddle and/or aerial lift equipment. Successful candidates shall be required to demonstrate proficiency in tree climbing using standard arboricultural climbing equipment, i.e. rope and saddle, to pass probation of the Maintenance Worker 2 position.

Under the direction of the Controller, provides accounting and fiscal support, including budget tracking, income and expenditure reports, revenue billing and collection, payroll, reviews and reconciles a variety of complex financial transactions for the Peninsula Library System and its multiple contracted agencies.

Distinguished from the Accounting Assistant I by the amount of accounting experience required. An Accounting Assistant II works under general supervision and, within a framework of established procedures, is expected to perform a variety of more complex accounting duties with only occasional assistance.

THE POSITION

The Fiscal Analyst I/II/III position at the Glenn County Health and Human Services Agency performs varied and complex professional accounting and financial analysis work relating to various grants and programs; fiscal and contract management; fiscal program analysis and compliance; prepares analytical, narrative, statistical, accounting and financial reports; develops and monitors budgets; prepares financial statements and reports, and related duties as assigned. Fiscal Analyst II is the journey-level classification in the series and is distinguished from the Fiscal Analyst I by the responsibility and working independently with minimal supervision. Fiscal Analyst III is the advanced level in the series, and is distinguished from Fiscal Analyst I/II by the performance of the most complex accounting and analytical work within the assigned department. This position is full-time and scheduled for forty (40) hours.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Provides information for and prepares periodic accounting, fiscal reports, and analysis to internal units, federal, state, and local agencies and/or to private auditing firms as required by governing agencies. 
• Prepares reports and analysis on accounting activities relating to funds, grants and programs. 
• Prepares various financial statements including worksheets, balance sheets, income statements, statements of cash flow, adjusting and closing balance sheets, depreciation schedules, allocation schedules, and cost reports.
• Monitors the status of various grants including analyzing the availability of funds, reviewing expenditures, and ensuring that activities comply with grant regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE:

I - Some professional level accounting or fiscal analytical experience is desirable.

II - At least one (1) year of professional level accounting experience as Fiscal Analyst I in Glenn County, or Two (2) years of professional accounting or fiscal analytical experience in a private or public entity. Incumbents do not automatically promote to Fiscal Analyst II.

III - At least one (1) year of professional level accounting experience as Fiscal Analyst II in Glenn County, or Three (3) years of professional accounting or fiscal analytical experience in a private or public entity. Incumbents do not automatically promote to Fiscal Analyst III. 

EDUCATION:

I/II/III - Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field. Substitution: Additional progressively responsible experience in accounting or financial analysis may be substituted for the required education.

Belvedere and the Town of Tiburon. The new Belvedere Tiburon Library opened in 1997. The library is located just north of San Francisco in Marin County, California. It is accessible by ferry from downtown San Francisco, as well as by car from Highway 101. The City of Lincoln is hiring for a seasonal Maintenance Worker II within the Parks and Facilities Division of the Public Works Department.

The Department is looking for an individual with at least three years of responsible experience performing municipal parks maintenance. Course work and training in maintenance, agronomy, horticulture, forestry, natural resource management, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, janitorial or related field is highly desirable.  A successful candidate will have the ability to obtain a Class B Driver’s License within one year of employment.

Under general supervision, this position performs the full array of duties assigned to classes in the Maintenance Worker series including maintenance, construction and equipment operation work in one or more Public Works divisions; occasionally assists in the training of lower-level Maintenance Workers; and performs other related duties as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Maintenance Worker II is the journey level class responsible for a wide variety of maintenance and construction tasks. This classification is distinguished from the next higher classification of Senior Maintenance Worker in that the latter performs more complex assignments and lead responsibilities.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

The Maintenance Worker II receives general supervision from a Public Works Supervisor. May exercise technical and functional supervision over assigned staff. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Include but are not limited to the following:

• Performs maintenance, repair, construction, equipment operation and installation work in parks and buildings.
• Parks and Buildings: Maintains lawns, shrubs, and trees; assists in spraying of herbicides and pesticides; cuts, sprays and removes weeds; clears brush and debris; assists with planting and maintenance of landscaped areas; installs, maintains, repairs and programs irrigation systems; cleans and maintains parks and city buildings; assists in the performance of minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting and remodeling tasks.
• Fills out reports and work orders; climbs or uses hydraulic aerial devices to top, trim, reshape, strip, treat and remove trees; operates airport fueling vehicles; responds to after-hours call-outs if assigned.
• Demonstrates a full understanding of applicable policies, procedures and work methods associated with assigned duties; may provide training to lower level staff; responds to questions and concerns from the general public; provides information as is appropriate and resolves public service complaints.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment. The need to lift, carry and push tools, equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. Additionally, the incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions including wet, hot and cold. The incumbent may use cleaning and lubricating chemicals, pesticides or herbicides which may expose the employee to fumes, dust and air contaminants. The nature of the work also requires the incumbent to climb ladders, use power and noise producing tools and equipment, operate hydraulic aerial devices, drive motorized vehicles and heavy equipment, work in heavy vehicle traffic conditions and often work with constant interruptions.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS

The following are a representative sample of the KSA’s necessary to perform essential duties of the position:

The City of Foster City is looking for a Public Works Maintenance Worker I who is able to demonstrate competency and increasing independence, knowledge and ability in performing routine and special assignments in a variety of maintenance program areas in the Public Works department. This position is expected to rotate through all the maintenance divisions of streets, lagoons, water, and wastewater. This is a full-time entry-level position. 

The ideal candidate will be an active listener with the ability to understand and follow verbal or written instruction. They will be able to safely operate equipment and tools and recognize the use of safe work practices. This individual will establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others and learn and retain information concerning equipment, functions, and projects. This position requires standby and emergency response coverage before or after regular work hours, weekends, and holidays.

Education and Training Guidelines
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A typical way would be:

Education: Completion of a job or technical training program in maintenance, or construction, completion of high school or the equivalent.

Experience: One year of full-time experience in general maintenance or construction.

Licenses, Certificates, Registration
Licenses:  Possession of a valid California Class "C" and Class "B" Driver's License. Must obtain valid California Class “B” Driver’s License within six months of appointment.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process.

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview (weighted 50%), Written Exercise (weighted 25%), and Practical Exercise (weighted 25%). An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner.

The department will invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a final department interview. The Public Works department will make the hiring decision.
