Field placement of at least one (1) year in a medical, psychiatric, or community mental health setting

The Position 

The San Bruno Police Department is recruiting for Public Safety Dispatchers. The San Bruno Police Department has a long-standing tradition of small-town service with big-city dedication to public safety.  Public Safety Dispatchers are responsible for public safety dispatch and related records management activities. This position operates on a 24-hour, 365 days per year basis, and may be assigned to either a day, swing, or graveyard shift on a regular, rotational basis that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.  Public Safety Dispatchers perform a wide range of duties involving radio, telephone, and computers, applying various procedures and codes. Dispatchers receive and transmit emergency and non-emergency telephone and radio traffic as well as process communication reports, records, and radio logs, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.  Dispatchers may also support the Police Department by performing clerical tasks, training, assisting with fingerprinting, and being accountable for financial transactions.  This position is integral in supporting the goals and objectives of the City and Police Department.   

Essential Duties 

• Receives and transmits emergency telephone and radio traffic.   

• Maintains and processes a variety of communications reports, records and radio logs. 

• Operates a dispatch console, uses Computer Aided Dispatch (C.A.D.) System and other computer programs to process information and records. 

• Maintains a high level of confidentiality. 

• Performs collateral duties including a variety of related clerical tasks: assisting in preparation of work schedules; training and evaluating performance of new employees; conducting training sessions; assisting in fingerprinting and jail operations, which may include searching prisoners; and is accountable for handling cash, bond, and check transactions.  

• Plans, organizes, and directs dispatching and related activities on an assigned shift. • Prepares and maintains training and procedure manuals.  As required, prepares special reports, and undertakes projects for Management Staff.  

• May act as Records/Dispatcher Supervisor in their absence. 

• Maintains liaison with other Department Divisions, City Departments, and other law enforcement and emergency response agencies. 

• Maintains various C.A.D and Record Management Files.

Encampment management services include weekly trash services and abatement activities to ensure that locations and conditions of encampments are cooperative and complying.  

Community Activity Worker job duties for BeautifySJ are focused on providing direct support to address litter/trash related blight in neighborhoods, waterways, and/or encampments.  Duties include setting up, planning and attending resource fairs and neighborhood-based outreach events (e.g. “dumpster days”), developing working relationships with schools, volunteers, internal and external stakeholders and non-profit partners. Project Hope supports residents to create new neighborhood associations or reinvigorate existing ones, develop the organizational and capacity building skills to better utilize and reach key City, and other public/private resources to address ongoing quality-of-life issues.

Community Activity Workers in Project Hope build strong relationships with residents, partners and community. Assist  neighborhood associations/board members with planning for meetings and events. The City of San Bruno Community Services Department is seeking a Food Services Coordinator to coordinate the lunch program and assist in the planning, organizing, coordination, and administration of community recreation programs for age 50-plus adults. The position works under the supervision of a Recreation Services Supervisor.

This position will perform food service management, food preparation, cooking, menu planning following Aging and Adult Services (AAS) guidelines; kitchen sanitation procedures, and routine cleaning of the kitchen appliances; purchase necessary supplies from vendors, keep detailed records of expenses and meals served, maintain food and supply inventory list. The position will also assist senior center staff in the development, scheduling, and implementation of a variety of fun lunch time activities and programs, such as the “Variety Show” and “Spring-Time Fun.”

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual who can follow recipes, plan and organize menus; prepare food in large quantities and manage kitchen operations to meet a fixed preparation and serving schedule; calculate ingredients and prepare required food quantities with minimum waste; follow safety practices, sanitation requirements and health code rules; maintain a variable work schedule based on needs of program and community center; follow oral and written instructions, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. The Food Services Coordinator will possess the following:

• Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) Degree from a two-year college or university with a degree in hospitality management, culinary arts, institutional food preparation management, or a closely related field or Certificate in Culinary Arts from an accredited culinary school.
• One year experience in institutional food preparation management or related experience.
• Additional experience and training in institutional food preparation, community center use, nutrition, menu planning, and food preparation is desirable.
• Ability to obtain and maintain valid California State Driver’s License.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the following by the end of the probationary period:
  • First Aid and CPR Certification
  • California State certification in food safety (equivalent to the ServSafe Certificate).

The current vacancies are Regular vacancies and Extra Help vacancies. Future vacancies may include extra-help, limited term, unclassified, and regular classified positions.

Extra Help - Extra-help positions are short-term employment for up to 1040 hours which is equivalent to about six months; however, employment might end sooner depending on the needs of the hiring departments. Extra-help assignments are at-will and the employee is paid on an hourly basis. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Medical Services Assistants II who are assigned to the clinics and perform advanced patient care duties as defined in the classification specification shall receive a differential of 6.2% in addition to all other compensation.

Possession of a Medical Assistant Certificate or a certificate of completion or degree from an accredited medical assisting program is required. A certificate of completion of an approved medical assisting program must be submitted at the time of application.

Education and Experience:

One year of experience in an outpatient clinic or doctor's office as a nurse's assistant or medical assistant.

Knowledge of:

Other Requirements:

THE POSITION:

The Library and Recreation Department (Child Care Division) is recruiting for a full-time Child Care Instructor II position in their Preschool Programming at Parkside Preschool.  Under the supervision of the Child Care Center Director, this position will provide developmental care and supervision to children enrolled in the childcare program; implement age appropriate curriculum for children; establish and maintain supportive relationships with children and parents; and other related duties as assigned.

This position performs the following essential job duties:      

• Plan, implement and supervise developmental preschool programs.
• Develop age-appropriate curriculum and activities to stimulate children’s cognitive skills, abilities and development.
• Evaluate needs of children, staff and site in order to maintain a safe and healthy environment for children and staff.
• Supervise the activities of children and records observations of children’s behavior and activities; monitor behavioral patterns and develops assessment and profiles.
• Schedule parent conferences to discuss children’s development and concerns; work with family to devise learning and development strategies as necessary.
• Maintain accurate attendance and enrollment records; maintain appropriate confidential records.
• Supervise and coordinate the work of subordinate childcare staff.
• Monitor and order classroom supplies and materials as needed.

To be eligible for this position you must have knowledge of: 

• Early Childhood Development
• Curriculum models such as CLASS and Pyramid training
• Classroom management techniques
• Appropriate disciplinary techniques
• Oral and written communication skills
• Group leadership and teaching skills

• Completion of twelve (12) units of Early Childhood Education (ECE) courses.     
• One year working with children in a Preschool setting.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Department of Justice and FBI fingerprint clearance
• Prefer possession of a valid California Driver’s License
